After sitting down in a lake her pants were still dry
I wanted to wait until I'd given these a good test to write a review - I don't find it terribly helpful to read a review of rain pants that have never been out in the rain. And they'd survived a decent number of drizzly days without incident, but never a real downpour so I couldn't be sure. Today my kid literally sat down in three inches of water, for several minutes, and her pants inside these pants were dry. So yeah, I'm gonna state pretty confidently that they work. The elastic around the ankles is TIGHT, like don't even try to put them on without taking your kid's shoes off, you'll just exhaust yourself. I also don't think the ankle elastic is too comfortable directly against the skin, but when are you wearing rain pants without rain boots anyway? I stretch the elastic around the boot shaft and it keeps them from cutting off circulation to the foot while keeping water out. I skipped this step once and there were some imprint marks on my little girl's ankle after about half an hour of wear. Felt pretty bad about that one.Hilariously unintended side effect: if your kid goes down a wet slide while wearing these pants they will shoot off like a rocket. My two year old landed five feet from the slide, no exaggeration.

Runs large, great quality though, works for us!
I have a 1y7m old boy, who's rather tall and normally wears 2T. Material is great quality, sealed seams, love the reflective trim on the side. These pants are definitely on the large side, but you'd expect that considering they are supposed to go over the clothing, especially in winter. I read the reviews, yet decided not to go a size smaller and i'm happy with the decision. Kids grow up so fast, that i see no reason buying certain garments that my son would outgrow in months. Thanks to the strong elastic bands, i can just roll up the pants couple of times and they fit just fine without my son being uncomfortable. I tried that already and he just went on doing his thing. Didn't bother him. So that works for us. First photo is with Carters 2T pants on top. Carters usually runs small for us, so the second photo is with another pair of pants in size 2T. Inseam length of Splashy pants in 2T size is 16 1/2". Hope this helps some of you when deciding on the size.

Great way to keep dry!!
I just ordered these for my youngest, but my six year old has been wearing them for over a year. The pants fit pretty big, but it doesn’t bother her and they will last longer. My daughter wears them several times a month for field study at school and particularly raining/muddy recess. They go out rain or shine and the playground is a natural environment with lots of mud. She gets in and out of them easily on her own and wears them comfortably on hikes over her clothes. They haven’t failed her, even sitting right in the mud. The pants wash easily, and are not snagged or worn despite rough treatment. Great purchase!

Yes they're big but if you're looking to layer they are perfect. Great quality for the price
My two year old is middle of the road in the size department. After reading reviews that said these pants ran large I decided to take a chance and order regardless as I wanted them as a last layer to keep his warm layers dry. He is an outdoor kid and plays HARD. Puddles, creeks, mud. For hours,.... only stopping because he gets cold from being wet. These pants were the answer!!! They do run large (he is just getting into 24 month bottoms and I ordered 2t) but the elastic is tight and secure enough that they stay put in all the necessary places. He played for over an hour in shin deep cold creek water this morning and when we got inside his inner layers were just a touch wet,... from the water making its way in between his rain boots and the ridges of the elastic (I pulled pants down over the boots) I am also a frugal mom so for me the price was right and I'm positive that he will be able to wear them again come fall as needed

Runs large but will last a few years
These pants run quite large, especially for the toddler sizes. My 4 year-old could fit in a 2T but not a 4T (she is average height, slightly below average for weight), as the pants are too large at the waist and wouldn't stay up. But my 7 year-old still needs a size 7 as the 6 doesn't leave a lot of room to grow. It's OK to have these pants to be bigger as long as the waistline fits. Length isn't so much of an issue for us.The pants are quite baggy and my kids wear them over their regular clothing. They are lightweight, waterproof, and allow kids to move freely. They act like a shell and had no lining. The fabric makes a lot of rustling noise though. The material holds up really well and these pants can be machine washed without cracking the fabric. It's also quite easy to clean and mud doesn't seem to stain it. Our first pair was purchased 4 years ago and still looks new. These make nice hand-me-downs.

Sizing is an Issue
These looked like they were decent quality. I wanted my daughter to wear them over her clothes. Based on the reviews, I bought them in the size she would normally wear, assuming they would be large. They were not. They fit her well if she didn't wear them over pants, but they were pretty short. My daughter is not particularly tall. I sent them back. For reference, she normally wears a size 10 pant, I ordered the size 9/10, and she is about 55" tall.

Perfect for splashing around and staying dry!
We used these for our girls on a recent trip to Iceland and they were PERFECT. Easy to skip on over leggings. Kept the rain and wind out so they were comfortable and dry. Very easy to wipe of and clean. Well mad and sturdy. Would highly recommend!!
