A great pen nice and smooth writing. I like the broad nib.

After the failure that was the black forest max, I was not holding out much hope for this N23. I bought the N23 with the long blade nib and the first ink I tried was Diamine Earl Grey. No good. Monteverde sapphire blue and diamine blue velvet are both wonderful. For the price this pen with the long blade (architect) nib is outstanding. Just make sure the ink is a flowing wet type. Most pilot, monteverde and Lamy links will work well. Dry inks no, hence 4 not 5 stars

Writes very wet. I got through ink very quickly. Much closer to a broad than a medium. A little scratchy too.

Gorgeous pen. Using Hongdian Black ink on leuchturm1917 paper, the flow is really good with zero bleed or ghosting. Writing anything is effortless. The pen has a heft to it that gives it that heirloom quality feel. If you handed this pen to someone they would immediately know they are holding something special. That said, this is my first and only fountain pen so far. I cant comment on the quality of the nib, but it feels very nice... its smooth yet not so smooth you dont feel the paper, however, you can let it glide with only the weight of the pen itself and a generous amount of ink will come out (almost too much for a beginner like me, might have been wiser to buy a finer nib) but learning to control it is part of the deal. I'm VERY happy with the purchase... frankly I dont see how it could get much better than this, even having seen reviews on the high-end 149, pelikan, sailor etc. This just feels super premium and everytime I see it I wanna pick it up, and everytime I pick it up I wanna write with it. Would recommend.

Very nice pen. Attractive and writes well. I ordered an EF nib and it is on the wide side for EF but that does depend a lot on the brand or make of the pen. I just mention it in case you are trying to decide between M,F and EF for your purchase. Pen will reverse write well also.
