Very Satisfied
It was smaller than I expected....which is a good thing.I bought this to keep in the boot of my car, in case the batteries of my torch went. I also wanted something I could leave on the ground that wouldn't roll away when changing a tyre. This does the job.Very bright light, beam is focused into a spot focus. It does provide a wider light beam, 'Flood Focus' to a small degree too. This not on the same scale of the likes of a LED Lenser P7, but I was pleasantly surprised at the brightness.Battery winding is working as claimed. The winding mechanism is a little stiffer than other winders I've used.Only 3 cons:You have an option for regular beam, for a 'Turbo Mode' for a brighter beam, but you have to keep your finger pressed on the red button for the Brighter mode, when you let go, you revert back to the regular beam. The USB ports at the back are exposed, so I don't see this flash light doing very well in the rain. Just tape this with Duct/Insulation tape if you are concerned.Made in China!Still though, its definitely one of the better wind up torches on the market. Very handy to have in the house or car.

Good replacement for an old style rechargeable torch
Good bright light with a range of at least 50 yards. Fully charging could be a problem if you haven't got a computer with a suitable USB output or a USB charger (which I have). You might need to factor in the cost of USB output charger. You can charge it using the wind-up charger built into it of course. The winding handle seems reasonably strong and provided you open it out properly and don't strain it, should be OK, but the hinged joints are always a potential weakness in wind-up devices.Recommended? Yes, providing you are not looking for a million candle power torch.

Powerful for its size
This torch has a remarkably strong beam for its size, with the first brightness on the black button, and a slightly brighter beam if you press the red (flash) button while it is on. It isn't pocket-sized of course, but neither is it the size or weight of my other, conventional 1m candlepower torch. The winding handle looks sufficiently robust, but more often than not I expect to recharge it via the dual-purpose USB lead. A charge of 6 hrs is said to produce light for 6 hours. Additionally, there is a second USB port on the back of the torch, enabling the winding handle to be used to power another gadget requiring the use of the mini-USB plug on the other end of the leadThis torch performs very well, and is certainly recommended.Update Oct 2012 - one of the LEDs has failed and another looks as though it is about to do so. Contacting seller for replacement/return. Would I have another? Definitely, despite the failure.Update 29 Oct 2012 - replacement torch arrived today. No problem at all with EJS, who responded quickly and helpfully as soon as they were notified. The faulty torch was returned and the replacement sent within a day or so, plus refund of postage. Good product, great service. If only all businesses were as easy to deal with.

Providing light under the cover of darkness
I have had one of these Unicom Power Beam torches for over 12 months, but when I came to using it last week, the damn thing had gone flat and I nearly wrote it off After a good 24-hour charge (Not recommended, although no harm came to it this time) however, I managed to resurrect it and now swear by it. Thus, I purchased three more. I found it really useful last night when retrieving a load of cardboard from my wheelie-bin to burn on the fire pit under the cover of darkness (When thick black smoke can't be seen by the neighbours who were all tucked up in their little beds) in between fly-tips at my local council litter bin, on the week the bin-men don't empty my rubbish, because of the previous Labour Government's austerity plan of cuts to public services (Like waste management for example). I also purchased a large glass astray last month from the outdoor market and the beam end of the Unicom Power Beam fits exactly into that ashtray… How weird is that? I now keep my resurrected Unicom Power Beam torch there so I know where it is in an emergency.

Seems perfect for my requirements but has only worked for 18 moths,
First impressions are very positive. The item is a bit smaller and lighter than expected but this is not a real problem. First charge seems ok and I cannot at present comment on the performance apart to say that it meets all my requirements. I also find that you are able to use it to charge other things as a plus.Further to my previous review. The item is now about 18 moths old and will not charge. I am therefore amending my initial 4 stars. It should have lasted longer than this. Pity as it was excellent until now. I note that there are a few reviews that would confirm the lifespan of this item.

A reliable torch with the bonus of hand winding and external USB device charging in emergency.
I have two of these, they are so reliable - one in the house and one in the car. They are bright and very light to carry, the strap makes it easy to carry other things in the dark, and the winding handle just means that you are never without light after it is discharged. Certainly robust enough for general household use, with the odd drop off the table etc !I have only ever fully re-charged via a USB charger, and not measured the winding time versus the 'light on' time but reckon their estimate is probably right. You can also use the torch rear connector to charge anything which has a USB connection, which they don't mention on the sales information, so it can act as an emergency USB supply as well - I have recharged my mobile phone that way off the torch battery.

Highly recommended.
When I buy LED items and/or wind-up, I am always worried if I will be winding like a maniac to get a pitiful glow at the end of 10 minutes. This wee puppy surprised me.Even a few seconds of winding produced a beam that was, pardon the pun, brilliant. Other than my 1 and 2 million candle lanterns, which forever need charged, this is probably one of the best torches I have ever bought.I was so impressed with the product that I bought a second one to keep in the car.Would quite happily recommend this product to anyone. And I didn't even get it free or discounted for the awesome review,

Good torch can be shared from mains via USB lead
Bought this to replace previous identical model which has been mislaid/stolen. Good torch can be shared from mains via USB lead, as well as manually wound.
