PINTY 3-9x40 Rifle Scope with Red/Green Illuminated Reticle & Rangefinder, Multicoated Lens with Mounts for Picatinny Rail

First, I am not trying to be a sniper and don’t need to shoot things too far away - recreational target shooting is main use. For my needs this scope is great for the price. I had never used a scope before, so didn’t want to spend a bundle on one to learn with - especially if it turns out I didn’t like it. I now have 2 of these. I put one on a Ruger Pistol Caliber Carbine 9mm. I like the ghost ring iron sights, but my eyes are now old and I can’t see the sights or the target depending on whether or not I have my contacts in. I also shoot a rifle with my non dominant eye, so a scope is very helpful. This scope and mounting rings is perfect for the rifle - I can still use the scope and see the iron sights through the mounts - they are not blocked. My other one is on a 1968 Remington Speedmaster 552. I did have to buy Weaver mount rings to fit that gun. It does block the regular sights. The magnification is also helpful to see where you hit the target without walking to wasting range time bringing the target in to see it. So this with my vision needs makes this a perfect inexpensive match for learning scopes and general plinking. It was pretty easy to sight in the old fashioned way. Adjustment is easy and does not require tools - just fingers. So far minimal to no readjustment has been needed, noting I hand hold the gun when I sight it, so accuracy is dependent on my not so great aim. But I can now consistently hit a 2” square at 75 feet (longest area at my range - I need to go to a 100 yard range & get a rifle rest to really dial them in) Scope feels quality and has a good appearance. I don’t use the red/green lights much but they work nicely. The flip up lens covers work well. For what I do, this has proven to be a great value for the price.

Great scope for the price

I got this scope on a whim. I have several rifles, so I figured I'd throw it on one of them, and see if it was worth the money. My initial intent was to put it on my CZ 452, which I did. This required a different set of rings than the ones that are sent with the optic, but that was an easy fix. End result was awesome, if you're okay with a huge scope on a rifle...with one exception. The only way I could mount it resulted in the front bell of the scope resting on the rear sight of the rifle. I was worried that this could flex the optic, and affect its performance, so I went with plan B. The optic now sits atop one of my long range AR-15s, which meant that the original scope rings could be used after all. Score. Now, I didn't have high hopes for this optic. But three things made me take a chance on it. First, even though it has a lighted reticle, it's also got a black reticle, when the lighted option is turned off. I hate magnified optics that rely on batteries for their usefulness. So that was already a point in its favor. Second, it's cheap. Worst case scenario, I spent as much as dinner and a movie would cost (at least), if you were taking someone worth the time out for that sort of thing (If they're worth it, don't be cheap, fellas). And lastly, the turrets were hand adjustable. I don't see why the concept of a knurled knob is so difficult for so many optic makers to grasp, but they should all come that way, in my opinion. So those three things, I decided to get the scope, despite my low expectations as to the function. On to that.... This thing was great. I sat at a 100 yard range, and focused in on individual stalks of reeds in the brush above the berm. I was quite impressed with the clarity of such a low priced optic. Eye relief is awesome, so you don't have to struggle to find the sweet spot while mounting. Once I had the optic set up the way I wanted it, turret adjustments were distinct and easily noticeable, with both audible and tactile clicks. The only thing I disliked about the setup was having to re-focus when changing distances. The focus on the end made it hard to work the adjustment while staying on the scope, which was necessary to fine tune the focus. That's going to be an issue with any focus system like this, but this one seemed quite stiff, and made adjustment take longer than I'd like. This would be fine for punching holes in paper, but if you had to do it to take game, competition, or for any shot that required speed, you're going to have issues. Not insurmountable issues...but issues, none the less. So how did it shoot? This optic was one of the easiest to get on paper, and sight in, that I've had in quite some time. I basically Billy Bobbed it onto paper (Kentucky windage until I saw that it punched a hole, then adjusted accordingly to get it closer to where I wanted it), and then dialed it in at 30 yards. It held its zero from shot to shot for the duration of approximately 30 rounds of 5.56 (actual 5.56...not .223. So a bit snappier recoil than the .223 ammo. I figured it was worth mentioning, in case anyone cared) during the sighting in phase. Now, it was about 40 degrees, with the ocassional breeze dropping it down to approximately -68 degrees (I'm going by my best guess on that second assessment. It felt pretty damned cold to me, so I was freezing my ass off. YMMV. Moving on...), so admittedly I didn't put in my due diligence putting this scope through the paces. I didn't drop it or, much with it to test how resilient it was in holding zero, but I can say that, at 30 yards, I created a single hole grouping of 3 shots with this optic, after speed zeroing it (See pic). Now, this isn't that impressive with this powerful of an optic, at such a close range (but, aside from spreading the group out a bit, a 30 yard zero should be fairly close to a 100 yard zero), and I didn't have the chance to stretch it out after that (I was in no mood to dawdle in that kind of cold), but I'm pretty impressed with that kind of performance out of a cheap optic, especially considering the less-than-methodical manner in which I was assessing it, and the weather conditions. If I hadn't been cold as I was, I could have probably tightened that group up a bit. I have yet to check it, but from initial inspection, I believe it's possible to reset the zero on the optic, as well. If that's the case, I'll bump this rating from a 4 star to a 5, since I was on the fence as to whether I should just give it a 5 star to begin with. The only reason I did was because I have yet to be able to put this through some torture testing, long range shooting, and such things as resetting the turrets. If you're looking for a light duty long range optic, something for the rifle you rarely shoot, or something to use while you're saving up for your Nightforce, Leupold, Schmidt & Bender, Zeiss, or US Optics scope of choice, this is a handy little option, with the added benefit that buying it won't set you back much monetarily on your journey to purchase one of the previously mentioned optical powerhouses.

Good scope for the price they work well they reach out there so I would recommend them I put these on my break barrel pellet guns and yep go ahead and get one if you need one.

It works pretty nicely for the price range of this item. I haven't really used it much yet. But it mounts easily and feels like a quality part.

Targeting a way better than red dot scope.

I like the illuminated reticles, magnification is as expected give the price point. Mounting hardware is as expected. The lens covers are worthless bordering on dangerous. The front cover needs to be pushed closed with such force I fear it will disrupt the alignment. The real cap broke after 1 use at the range, leaving the spring sticking out in such a way I pierced my finger. In a few weeks the season opened and I’ll have a better idea how I feel about the functionality of the scope itself.

Update! the company reached out to me after reading my previous review and asked if they could try sending me a replacement that I may have received a bad item, upon receipt of the new one it holds the recoil of the gun and works just fine on a ar-10..it is absolutely great for the price don't expect it to be as good as a $500 scope but it is easily as good as a cheap Bushnell or something of the equivalent. Has a nice reticle and the illumination is great for low-light. It may be good for an airsoft rifle but it definitely is not good for any real firearm.. I've tried it on a .223 bolt and .308 starting with .223 and it was just all over the place I would get it close to zeroing and then it would jump can I even get 2 in groupings at a hundred yards with this gun in different scope I can easily get half-inch groupings... I don't know if I got a bad one from the line or what because other people say it is great even on larger caliber rifles so I do not get it

I have it on my Remington 30 06 semi-automatic super crisp and accurate. Hits bullseye at 100 yards and 1 inch below bullseye at 200 yards. Very easy to install and bore sight. For a scope thats under $100 its totally a top of the line great quality I ended up getting one for my ruger 10/22 carbine well dang it zeroed in after 3 shots i hit targets with it at 178 yards away i also hit one at 197 yards and this was with a 22 I read all the 1 star reviews no matter what product comes out there is always 1 stars but I am being totally honest I love this scope I have used vortex leupoid scopes yeah them are good scopes but dang hard on the pocket book Ask yourself how much will you be using your gun and if you shoot small game such as rabbit n grouse like i do how far on 95 percent of the time do you shoot them 25 yards very max With me I love to shoot 100 to 200 rounds at targets from 50 to 150 yards once in while but with the price of this scope you will save a lot and have yourself a good quality scope my advice is once you get the scope take it to cabelas they put the scope on n bore sight for free It will get you on paper and after 3 to 5 shots of fine tuning dialing in your scope is set These scopes for the money are a great investment Take the money you saved from buying a vortext or leupoid and get yourself some cool hunting accessories. Go shoot them 150 to 200 yard targets :) I bought one for my ruger 10/22 I had difficulty ajusting the windage and elevation to bore sight the gun in so I contacted Pinty support from their website they were very helpful and got the problem fixed Over all this price point of scopes should shake up vortex n leupoid they need to bring their prices down as their scopes arent made from gold vortex is made in china I refuse to spend over 200 for a scope I have shot many deer and moose with cheaper scopes and lots of grouse n rabbits but if you have your mind set on a more expensive scope no matter how these scopes operate you will think they are junk But over all I am very happy with Pinty There is one more scope I strongly recommend its a amazing scope too its SVBONY SV178 Rifle Scope 6-24x50,Rifle scope You should check it out as well These companies are really kicking ass in sales I wish rhem the best I am sure they will fix all the bugs n improve their services its growth Will be buying more scopes soon

I bought this scope for a cheap 22 LR plinker. It should do fine. Preliminary inspection: 1) Green and Red illumination is great, very crisp and has a good range of brightness 2) Lots of internal reflections. the inside is not coated well or at all and you can see some annoying reflections. 3) Adjustment knobs are under the caps, which you have to unscrew to manipulate. I'm used to exposed turrets but it should be fine. 4) Optics are useable, but nothing special. Compared to my Arken SHAJ GEN2, it's terrible but for 50yrd plinking, I'm not too worried.

So far I can not think of a negative, that said I bought this scope for my CO2 powered umarex airjavelin so there isn’t any recoil. The scope has a very solid feel, very clear view, reticle markings are clear and usable with or without the red or green light on, when turned on both green and red are sharp and clear without making the field of view fuzzy. I have yet to zero it in on my airjavelin but have put it on my umarex fusion2 and zeroing was easy using the no tools needed adjustment knobs. Overall I am very pleased with this and look forward to sighting in my airjavelin and figuring out the rangefinder markings, I will be buying a second one for my fusion2 pellet gun

Needed a mid range scope and this looked good. Relatively clear with no milky haze which is surprising. Landed on paper at 50y and after a few adjustments in the black inner rings consistently. Held zero great after 50rds of 7.62 so I'm very happy. The illumination is a bonus at low light as well as the flip up protector caps. Swaped out for a mid mount right away as the ones it comes with are a little high. Would buy this brand again.

Works great, but you have to remove the adjuster covers to make adjustments. And I had to buy new mounts
