Goodbye Wyze, hello Tapo!
I’ll be writing this on all the Tapo cameras I’ve recently purchased. (4x C110, 2x C210, 2x C520WS) These are flawless, amazing, and so far ahead of Wyze it’s not even funny. They are massively affordable, truly need no subscription, have fantastic features in their app, can record locally to an SD card; everything you would want. Coming from Wyze (see more below), I didn’t know that cameras were supposed to act like this. I assumed, at Wyze prices, that I was getting what I paid for. But when I finally had enough constant stress and spent the money to change to Tapo… my life has been changed. Seriously, I probably added years to my life not being so stressed out all the time because my cameras never, ever worked right. These do, and I cannot say it enough times… if you’re currently using Wyze then get one of these. Use it for a week side-by-side and tell me what you think. Super light, have a few of mine mounted with ‘hard plastic velcro’ (3M Dual Lock). Setup is fast and easy, and works right away. Don’t have to do it over and over again (Wyze). Clarity is superb - 1440p quality. Night vision is phenomenal. Don’t really care about ‘color’ night vision - but my outdoor ones do have it. And one of the best parts is Tapo is part of TP-Link. What does that mean? TP-Link has been around for a very long time, and they specialize in networking equipment, LoL. So yeah, if you want a reliable camera on your network, who better to trust than a networking company. TLDR: Don’t waste your time on any other brand. Buy these. I promise you won’t regret it. About Wyze: If you’re like me and never wanted to spend thousands on home monitoring and security, then you may have stumbled upon Wyze cameras. At first, they were amazing - very affordable with no subscription necessary. And they worked. Over time, that changed drastically as they ventured into making everything else on the planet instead of focusing on their roots (cameras). They funded that stuff by changing to a subscription policy. And in their haste had multiple security breaches and problems such as other people viewing cameras that aren’t theirs. This is of course while the software and hardware has become so incredibly bad that they’re unusable. I mean, they actually do not function 92% of the time. Whether it’s freezing, not connecting, stuttering so bad that it looks like a PowerPoint presentation, app for closing, etc.

The TP-Link Tapo 2K Indoor Camera: A Surprisingly Excellent Choice
As someone who has delved into the world of home security cameras, purchasing and testing models from Meross, Ubiquiti, Nest, Ring, and others, I've encountered my fair share of unique challenges with each brand. I've even invested over $200 on some Ubiquiti cameras, all in the pursuit of finding the perfect balance of functionality, ease of use, and affordability. However, it wasn't until I came across the TP-Link Tapo 2K Indoor Camera that I felt I had found a device that stood out in the crowded market, especially for a very specific need: ensuring the safety and monitoring of my in-laws who have recently moved into an assisted living community. The aspect of this camera that immediately caught my attention was its affordability combined with its robust feature set, something I had begun to think was impossible to find. Unlike other systems that nickel and dime you for every additional feature, the TP-Link Tapo offers a comprehensive package without the need for a subscription service. This was particularly appealing as it enabled me to keep an eye on my in-laws' well-being without incurring ongoing costs. Installation and setup were astonishingly straightforward. I opted for a 256GB SD card, which was more than adequate for our needs and was incredibly easy to install and configure. This ease of setup is not something I can say for all the cameras I've tested in the past, where sometimes the setup process seemed almost deliberately complicated. The video quality is another point where the Tapo 2K Indoor Camera shines. It delivers crisp, clear images that make it easy to see what's happening, even from a distance. But perhaps the feature that sets it apart the most is the ability to playback footage remotely. This has given me peace of mind, knowing that I can easily check in on my in-laws at any time, from anywhere. Price-wise, the Tapo 2K is unbeatable. Considering the high costs of some competitors' cameras that still require additional outlays for full functionality, the value proposition of the Tapo 2K is clear. It's an affordable, effective solution for anyone looking to secure their home or, in my case, keep a watchful eye on loved ones in a care setting. In conclusion, the TP-Link Tapo 2K Indoor Camera has proven to be a little gem in a market saturated with overpriced and overcomplicated alternatives. Its combination of ease of use, excellent video quality, remote playback capability, and affordability make it a standout option. It's a purchase I've been thoroughly pleased with and would recommend to anyone in a similar situation or anyone looking for a reliable home security camera without unnecessary frills or expenses.

Great camera for the price. No subscription.
I ditched my Yi cameras due to the issues with the app and the new requirement for subscription services. I purchased these and I couldn’t be happier with this purchase! The Tapo TP-Link 2K security camera delivers exactly what I was looking for: simplicity, clarity, and peace of mind—without locking me into a subscription. • Ease of Use: Setup was a breeze. The app walks you through everything step by step, and I had the camera up and running in minutes. Even if you’re not tech-savvy, you’ll find it straightforward. • Camera Clarity: The 2K resolution is outstanding. Day or night, the image quality is crisp and detailed, making it easy to see faces, license plates, or small movements. The night vision is surprisingly clear too. • No Subscription Required: One of the biggest selling points for me is that you can use all the essential features without paying monthly fees. Local storage options and free app controls mean you’re not tied to ongoing costs, which is rare in the security camera market. Overall, this camera combines high-quality performance with user-friendly design. If you want reliable home security without hidden fees, the Tapo TP-Link 2K is a fantastic choice.

Good but NOT USB compatible
Highly satisfied with the 2K resolution and remarkable night vision. Not satisfied at all with the color quality in comparison to any other camera. This camera is very easy to use and set up, good for home security or pet monitoring. Integrates with Alexa very well. Consider before you buy that this camera is not USB compatible, it uses its own power adapter.

Nice, small cameras with good viewing area but colors aren't as bright as I see them
I bought two white 2k C110 cameras in the same order, both are hardware v2.0. After I received them I got them added to the TAPO app and did two firmware upgrades on each camera and both are firmware v1.4.6. Comparing settings one is 2K/30fps and one is 2K/25fps, 30 fps is not listed (-1 star for inconsistencies among exact same devices). <EDIT> New firmware update this morning fixed the different FPS issue above and both now have 2K/30fps. 5 stars. I got these to replace an old Amcrest 1080p and Foscam 720p dome cameras. Comparing the C110 to the Amcrest I can tell the C110 doesn't display colors as well when looking outside. The Amcrest shows bright green grass (real color) where the C110 shows a dull and darker green (not what it really looks like). The C110 is better than the Foscam. Both the Foscam and Amcrest cameras allowed me to set the port the device used making it easy to view in a browser, IP Camera Viewer (PC) and Tiny Cam Pro (Android). These C110 cameras use RTSP & ONVIF (ports 554 & 2020) and you cannot change the ports the camera uses. IP Camera Viewer (by Deskshare) can connect to both cameras and display video on Windows 10/11 using ONVIF port 2020 in the config page if the PC\laptop is on the same network. It was auto discovered and easy to configure. Tiny Cam Pro is great because it allows you to specify a custom RTSP and ONVIF port, therefore, you can port forward those four ports via your router (one RTSP and ONVIF per camera) and you can use the Android app to view the cameras while away from home, as well as at home. Tina Cam Pro starts up and shows the cameras faster than the TAPO app so I choose to use that app unless I need something specific from the TAPO app. I do like the TAPO app and the playback via SD card, it's fast and east to scroll to specific times. Overall these cameras are smaller and higher resolution but fail to display proper coloration in my situation but they meet my needs and will continue to use them. I doubt I will need to worry about the 30fps/25fps difference but that points to some problem and I think another review talked about a similar fps issue.

Not a bad camera, with a couple glaring omissions
So my intention was to purchase one of these, and become familiar with it and its capabilities, and then purchase at least four or five more if it did what I wanted it to do. Unfortunately, it does not. On the plus side, the image quality in varying light conditions is very good. Setup was easy, and it includes a few features like person detection that competitors like Wyze charge for. And although I haven't set it up yet, offering ONVIF/RSTP compatibility is a huge plus, for me at least. Finally, the current per camera price is very good. The deal killer is the fact that tp-link requires a subscription for rich notifications--as in having a snapshot of detected motion or whatever included in the notification. All of their competitors (that I'm familiar with) include this as a standard feature and I was shocked to find out that it is not included with this camera. They supposedly offer a Basic and Premium subscription tier, with both providing rich notifications, but the Basic level is not available in 90% of the countries they serve. The per camera price for both tiers is ludicrous, in my opinion, for what is offered. I do not need 30 days of storage, and I do not need or want cloud capability, etc. I only need rich notifications. Another huge negative for me is the fact that you cannot delete event recordings off of the microSD card via the app. The card has to be physically removed from the camera and plugged into a laptop or something in order to delete recordings, and there appear to be multiple files associated with each recording so it is not an easy task. Especially if the camera is mounted 10 ft off the floor. Again, this feature is available via every other camera app I've ever used. And finally I can't say that I'm at all impressed with the overall build quality. Compared to the 'bulletproof brick' sold by Wyze at a similar price point, the Tapo cam, especially the base, leaves a lot to be desired. I rely on Home Assistant as my smart home controller, and have multiple cameras set up through that using the ONVIF integration. I will try to do the same with this camera, and see if I can get Home Assistant to handle the notification function. If that works consistently and includes motion snapshots I may go that route. Otherwise, I'll stick with other brands that I've used for years. Update: getting this camera to work with Home Assistant is possible but there are so many hoops to jump through that I'm not interested in going that route. I wound up doing a factory reset, deleting the app, and throwing it in a drawer. I have roughly 50 Kasa smart switches and plugs and they are awesome. And the tp-link router I'm using now is the best I've ever seen. This camera, not so much.

Excellent quality for the price
I purchased this 4-pack to monitor the house before we went on vacation, and they worked flawlessly. Each camera came with an individual 30-day trial of their cloud storage, which automatically saves any motion detected footage. Their cloud plan doesn’t save continuous recording, so I bought 512GB micro SD cards instead. I played around with the different resolutions and frame rates offered; I ultimately just went for the full capacity of 2K at 30FPS. For two weeks of continuous recording, it racked up about 200GB on each camera respectively. The 512GB was more than enough, but glad I had it just in case. The app is also ridiculously easy to navigate. Every setting is clearly labeled and making changes was easy. Overall, I am extremely pleased with these cameras and I will likely buy another set to be able to monitor more of my house for a security set-up.

Quality indoor camera
I've been very happy with this camera. Setup in the Tapo app was quick and easy, and the 2K video quality is noticeably sharper than basic 1080p cameras. The night vision works well indoors, and motion notifications are reliable. The two-way audio is clear enough for checking in on family members or pets, and I like having the option to record locally to a microSD card instead of paying for a subscription. The camera also includes privacy mode, motion alerts, and a sound/light alarm. I previously purchased the outdoor Tapo C410 and had a good experience with it, so adding this indoor model was an easy choice. Both cameras work seamlessly within the same app, making it simple to monitor everything in one place. Great value for the price and a solid addition to a home security setup.
