Good, but not sure about level of sound reduction
[Update Nov 2023 - I’ve always wondered whether professionally made custom ear plugs would be different to these. I can now answer that. Yes, they are. I’ve made lots of these diy plugs and reckon my technique is pretty good. However, I bit the bullet and got some professional ones this year. They are distinctly better. You can tell they fit much tighter as soon as they go in and the material has a different feel which stays in place better. These diy ones have a habit of moving just enough that they don’t seal. They’re not useless, but if you afford to try some custom made ones, I’d say they are worth a try.] I've used this type of ear plug for several years from different suppliers. This particular one is reasonable value compared to others at the moment but still expensive compared to buying silicone in larger quantities. (My wife buys bigger tubs for her chiropody business). The instructions in Phil P.'s review are very helpful. The supplier has also added a suggestion to put the pots in the fridge before use. Although I've moulded these a few times before I followed Phil p.'s tips and did refrigerate also. Moulding was fine although these did seem to harden faster than others I've tried. The quantities suggested by Phil P. are fine, but I have usually made much bigger plugs which fill more of the outer ear. I'll go back to doing that because I find that dinky ones fall out as soon as I remove my helmet. My old ones did not and can still be moulded to be flush in the ear. The picture shows my old pair on the right and new Lug Guards ones on the left. Tips on keeping mouth open etc all helpful and I ended up with plugs which were a tight fit and sealed well. Actually quite difficult to insert as they need to be orientated just right. Probably a good sign. BUT, I've never been sure what level of noise reduction I get with this type of plug. When made they can be inserted to seal tight, but in real use they unseal a little immediately and noise increases quite a lot. I tried the soft clear silicone Christmas tree with filter types before these. Honestly not sure which is better. In truth, disposable foamies are more effective than anything else I've tried, but for me less comfortable long term. This pack had enough to make at least three sets using Phil P. quantities and probably two pairs in the larger size I favour. Only other negative I have is that mine arrived with silicone leaking out and on the outside of the pot. Just lazy by whoever filled these and leaves a poor impression of how seriously the supplier takes what they're doing.

With come care and patience you can get some great ear plugs
It is not as easy as it seems to make these but after a bit of experimenting I managed to get some really great ear plugs for sleeping with. In case it helps anyone who is struggling, what worked for me to get the best results: Lower the temperature - it seems to set quicker at higher temperatures, at >23C it started to set in less than a minute for me, at 19C it was very malleable for 2-3 mins and started to set >6mins. Turn the thermostat down and put it in the fridge for a while before starting to give plenty of time to shape it. It helps to mix a small test sample to see how much time you will have. Wash you hands and ears well - Its in the instructions for a reason. Weigh out equal amounts of both parts - mixing the parts unequally can cause it to set very quick. (I think) I have relatively small ears, I used 2g of each component per ear (i.e 4g total per ear) which was enough to produce some good plugs. So get some scales and make it accurate. Ignore the mixing time - it was way to long for me. Just do it quick and look at it and mix it until it is streak free. Keep your mouth wide open - this may depend on individual anatomy but if i put my finger in my ear and open my mouth i can clearly feel it creates more space. So get something wide to bite on, it gets pretty uncomfortable though so be prepared and get a cloth to wipe up the drool! Keep your head straight - same as above if I put my finger in my ear and look down it constricts slightly so don't look down when they are setting! They shrink as the silicone cures - I found I got better plugs if i kept prodding bits that came loose and applying gentle pressure as it set. Put an ear plug in the other ear and have some background noise going so that you can hear when a gap has opened up in the one you are making and then press it until you get the seal again. You can press it harder than you think - They (rightfully) put a warning about not rolling it into a sausage and inserting it into the canal. That is clearly a bad idea, but you can press it in quite hard from the outside (at your own risk) and I personally got better plugs by doing so. I found the critical area to focus on getting a good seal was at the small gap at the bottom of the ear between the Tragus and Antitragus. again putting a plug in the other ear helps to figure out if the seal is broken. With the above tweaks to the directions I found it took slightly longer than 10mins to fully set and got some really good ear plugs that work great. If you get some that are not quite right you can just mix up a bit more to layer it on, (at-least it worked for me to fix the other not so great pairs I made first time round) Overall very happy, I now have ear plugs that work just as well as the foam ones and are much more comfortable and don't fall out so that the cats no longer wake me up in the middle of the night. Hope that helps some people.

Easy to mould but not sure about noise reduction.
These were pretty easy to mould. I measured out a few grams of each colour and got a decent amount of time after the mix to get them into my ear. They set within just a few minutes and I was able to take them out fairly quickly. They are relatively comfortable when reinserted. There is plenty of product to make at least 3 pairs of plugs. I made two smaller pairs and one large pair that filled the outer ear. As it happens the smaller ones seem to be more effective at reducing ambient noise as they can be pushed into the ear a little better. The larger pair turned out to be pretty useless as after the product had set, it no longer made a seal in my ear so they went in the bin. I’m still not convinced about the level of noise reduction though, they’re definitely a lot less effective than the disposable foam plugs I have, but their advantage is that they are a lot less of a faff to put in. I need to try them out on the bike but I’m already fairly certain they won’t really cut it. I suspect I’ll be having to shell out for some proper custom made plugs from an audiologist. Use this information as you will, but I figured for £11 this was worth a shot, after all any earplugs should technically be better than no ear plugs. Update: I’ve now worn these a few times out on the motorcycle. While they do reduce some of the exhaust resonance, they definitely don’t reduce anywhere near enough wind noise that I would be confident that my hearing is being protected. In fact, it almost feels like my ears are screaming when I wear these on the bike, as if they are transmitting a fair amount of vibrations down the ear canal. As I anticipated I’ll be paying for some proper custom moulded plugs - can’t put a price on your hearing after all. As an aside, my ear canals do make a fairly sharp turn shortly after the entrance, so I didn’t get the putty to fill the canal particularly far in. Those of you with more accessible ear canals man have more luck than I did.

Silicone ear molds made easy
The product is user-friendly, featuring effective noise reduction and splash resistance. It is convenient to insert and remove, demonstrating responsible design. While the quality is commendable, it falls short of professional standards. However, considering its affordability, it offers excellent value for the price. Overall, I rate it 4.5 out of 5.

What!!!!!!!!!!! I can't hear you.
Excellent service and product.I ordered these just yesterday and they're here today.I have already made my first pair of custom moulded ear plugs and it looks like I have enough ''stuff'' left to make 2 or even 3 more pairs. The pack comes with all you need to make the plugs plus a nice black velvet pouch to keep them in once made.I found the plugs really easy to make and not at all messy.I looked at a clip on you tube to see just how easy it is to make these plugs. They set pretty quickly although I did leave them in for the recommended 10 mins. They're also easy to take out again once set.The earplugs in general do an excellent job, much much better and not at all messy like the waxy ones I've bought in the past.I find them easy to put in and take out and I feel they will last a long time.I like being able to actually wash them between uses. I've put the remaining little pots containing the rest of the ''stuff'' to one side. Thanks for an excellent product and service.

Easy to make, unconvinced about performance yet (time will tell)
Unsure why there are reviews of this stuff setting too quickly, worked perfectly for me. Make sure you check out the Amazon reviewer here (I even bought a set pocket digital scales, glad I did 4g per ear is perfect, I can make four pairs per pack!!): I tried them with 5mins in the freezer and they took much longer to set. At room temp they were still fine, a bit more convenient because they set quicker (2-3 mins) All details in this review, follow to the letter... https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/customer-reviews/R2QJY5JI4ADI36/ref=cm_cr_arp_d_rvw_ttl?ie=UTF8&ASIN=B00OBI0570) I am just unsure yet about the performance. When you first make them, they fit like a glove, but I could never get them back in my ear snugly as that first fitting. I will keep experiment, sat here making my third pair now. Will update this review. UPDATE: You have to go on the lean side, 4g per ear is the perfect amount and I'd even say slightly less, maybe as low as 3.5g (untested). I have just made my third pair using a very strict 4g, much better. The trick is to keep the mould low in your ear so that when refitting them it's easy to get the bit that goes down your ear canal inside. If you have too much mould around your ear it then becomes impossible to fit the part that goes in your canal down inside because the surround is obstructed from getting at the correct angle of entry. Heh ye, it's a science :) I use these for my motorbike helmet and as well as the above, the 4g size means they don't get budged by putting my helmet on and off. I haven't yet ridden my bike with them on, but this smaller set are close to the noise blocking of the foam earbuds. And the theory is they won't get dislodged like the foam. Expect a second update!

Absolutely Amazing
I have been a biker for some years now and touring quite a bit, the one thing I have never really invested in is a decent pair of ear plugs. I was going to buy a named brand off line which was just under £100 for moulded ear plugs so I thought I would try these first, I am so glad I did as it took me 25 minutes to make two sets of custom moulded ear plugs which fit amazing and are so comfortable. I can't believe some of my mates have spent hundreds on this type of plug and I made two sets with no hastle at all. All I can say is great product, amazing value I will buy again.
