Sketching from the Imagination: An Insight into Creative Drawing

An interesting collection of artists who share their approaches to their respective pieces and their work in general. It’s a good springboard for discovering a variety of illustrators. Will buy more in the series. Excellent.

Excellent presentation featuring a gorgeous selection of varied artists. Being an animator I tend to collect a lot of art books for inspiration on my illustrator side, but the order of this book makes for great get-in-get-out reference on different styles and approaches to concept sketching when doing research. All the artists being organised alphabetically by surname makes for good ease of access. Just ordered the recently released second volume and looking forward to them expanding this wonderful archive of work with a third book (possibly next year).

I bought this for my husband who loves it. He says it is well set out with a very good range of subject matter. He says the early stage sketches mean that it is easy to follow the thought processes so it helps his own drawing. Interesting and engaging apparently.

Just got this the other day, fantastic collection of so many artists sketches. Yes it isnt pages and pages of each artist but they are all stunning. Ideal if you want to see how other people get their ideas down on paper, or just want a resource to browse and then go looking else where for further work by the artists that you like the most.

This is a fantastic book to dip in and out of and to get inspiration from with summary from the artists about their work and thought processes. I have it amongst other compilation books that I visit regularly and would recommend this to those studying drawing and illustration of some kind as it a handy motivational tool when you're feeling mentally disengaged from drawing. The only criticism would be that some of the images have been blown up too large and aren't as crisp as most of the sketches in the book.

Besides all the amazing art work, the most interesting part for me was to be able to see a type of drawing that usually isn't suppose to be shared, as well having the chance to read so many different the stories and opinions of each individual artist.It really is a unique book, since its not a compilation of final images, nor a technical book.

This is my go to book for ideas and inspiration, don't know how I managed without it, the artists are varied; the illustrations are generous-it's a demonstration of how many ways there are to get the imagination on paper :)

This book is so inspiring I have left it out because each time I look through it I see a new idea forming, lots of different artists and their artistic backgrounds how they came up with their ideas etc

Es un libro que contiene excelentes imágenes de diferentes artistas, explica algo sobre la ilustración cada artista, pero no es un libro que enseñe a dibujar con algún estilo, si eso es lo que buscas, esto no es para ti. Sin embargo es un buen libro para que tú mismo puedas observar y analizar la obra de diferentes artistas sin que este libro te lo sugiera.

El libro es maravilloso.gran cantidad de ilustraciones de distintos estilos y temáticas.320 páginas.algo negativo es lo de siempre,😔.viene golpeado y deteriorado como tantas veces....deberían ser más cuidadosos con los envíos,quizá lo cambie pero bueno.aun así,libro espectacular.

Ottimo prodotto, arrivato in anticipo sui tempi di consegna. È un bellissimo manuale ricco di illustrazioni di diversti artisti. Dal mio punto di vista è ottimo per chi è in cerca di ispirazione. Poco consigliato per un beginner in cerca un vero e proprio manuale tecnico che insegni come creare le figure da zero ma, per chi è già in possesso dei rudimenti del disegno anche basic, lo consiglio vivamente. All'interno del volume ci sono illustrazioni diversissime grazie alle quali cercare e creare il proprio stile o semplicemente per allenarsi sulle impronte di artisti professionisti. Manuale composto da 310 pagine. Qualità prezzo ottima. Non reperibile nelle librerie. Qualità della carta ottima.

I ordered this book as a source for inspiration on my own drawings and sketches. For this price this is a fantastic deal. The book covers a lot of very different artists and the selection of sketches is also very good. Book binding quality is fine, the paper seams a little cheap, but it’s fine especially for this price. I’ll be getting a few more books from this series.

This is a must have! I have been looking around for some inspiration and this gave a total boost which is exactly what i wanted.. each and every page is a surprise.. its like you are looking into the artist's mind. So many sketches and so less time..PS: just looking at the first 20 pages made me write this... i can wait for the rest!
