Goes through a set programme of pulse patterns & turns off automatically. Each press of the + button takes it up a level, each press of the minus button takes it down a level & to off. Goes up to level 10 although the first 6 or 7 don't register on me so I have it up to max & believe me, like magic it takes the edge right off a very tiring burning neck pain that stems from a cranky top vertebrae - so much better than 4 hourly pills! AND better than a reasonably expensive one I had which had 3 miniture buttons and an equally miniture screen that needed more than my reading glasses to determine what was going on with settings .....this 'Kalm' couldn't be simpler, you really can do it blindfolded/behind your back. You must try several positions around the pain so as to find the spot that works best. The pads are very sticky, they need to be so they stay in place comfortably but no residue has been left on my skin. Make sure you place it on the clear plastic sheet when putting it away. On-line a card of 10 batteries will cost you a little over £1. This little thing works and I wouldn't be without it now, in fact I will be buying another to keep in my handbag. Arrived very speedily. Seller A+ for customer service too.....a small problem was dealt with instantly, offered full refund or exchange.....but the problem turned out not to be a problem atall simply a little battery hiccup.

Delivery was first class, however as I am not the user of the machine I cannot comment on how effective it is, although my husbandtells me "it's o.k."
