As soon as you hold this in your hand, you feel the strength of it. Handle is beautifully cushioned for both comfort and also thick enough that you know you can get a seriously strong grip if needed. After stupidly buying a cheap lead a while ago for my puppy, i said i would always go for the best after the clip which attaches to the dogs collar snapped right off, luckily i was in the park so he didn't run straight into a road or something but it was still worrying just to think what could have happened. The clip on this lead however looks bigger and stronger than any other lead I've seen, gives me great comfort knowing that it will stay secure. I definitely recommend this if you have a pulling dog because its very strong for a start, very comfortable on your hands and you have the added security of a really strong clip. The only problem i have is that it is considerably long, i like to hold the handle with one hand and then hold the lead in the middle with the other hand so my dog walks almost to heel but theres a lot of trailing lead with this which gets caught up in my dogs legs. I have a Springer spaniel so a medium sized dog but for anyone with a larger breed dog, this would suit excellently. UPDATE* Over a year on and i have had many leads during that time yet this one is still my most used for daily walking, strapping in the car, used when cycling with my dog and despite getting soaked constantly, dropped in mud etc etc. It still looks fairly new, the clip is smooth and as strong as the first day i got it and the handle is perfect and comfortable to hold. I rarely to updates on products but this is definitely worth it. Excellent buy.

I LOVE Ancol products for my Labrador. And this lead does Ancol proud! My large Lab boy can pull and as a fairly petite female I can find it pretty hard to control him sometimes. So I teamed this super strong quality Lead with a Halti's Stop Pulling head collar (Matching red of course) and what a combo! I'm not dreading the painful wrist and stressful walks anymore, I really love our walks now. Whilst the head collar calms his pulling (training's easy, he now walks to my heel!) This super awesome lead is sturdy enough to guide my big boy, whilst the soft gel/spongy stuff on the inside of the loop its really comfortable for your wrist. No more sore pull marks! As a bonus you should know its super long! (About two average size leads long) I was surprised and a little put off but you soon get used to it. To be frank you start to love the length and I couldn't go back to normal length lead now. This would probably look a bit silly on small/toy dogs as it's a bit of a "man-sized" lead. Rating on looks is 5 stars. (For a med-large dog) It looks as quality as it feels. So in summery I love it. Buy it, Buy it, Buy it!

Ancol dog leads and collars are my go to for my Border Collies. They are great and can coordinate collars and leads.

This dog lead is just what you'd expect a basic inexpensive dog lead to be really. Cheap and cheerful, good strong comfy hand hold, good strong metal clip. Would I walk an Alsatian on it? Probably not, but it's certainly good enough for my little border terrier. Pleased I bought it in red - way easier to find it than a black one! UPDATE June 2020: Thought I'd revisit some of my old reviews. Well, this lead is still exactly as I described it 2 years ago. I can still find it as its bright red unlike the blasted black extendable lead that is forever disappearing! This is still going strong, not frayed or worn at all, clip remains in good nick. Can't really argue with that. 2 years dog walking for under £4, I'm pretty impressed. I'd buy another, only I don't need to.
