I love to buy sushi from a particular place, because it is always fresh and it has a particular taste which to me strikes a perfect balance of sweetness, sour, sault and starch -eness. One day, I asked the sushi master maker what kind of vinegar he is using for his rice and he recommended this one. LOVE AT FIRST TRY!!! Absolutely excellent!! Mild, flavored, easily accommodating extra sugar and salt, perfect. Made my rice a wonderful pleasure!! So, will I still buy the sushi I love. Absolutely! But now I also have an option to try my beginner cooking skills at home! :-)

Best vinegar I've used for sushi rice
I use this when making my sushi rice and I've found this has the best taste, I've tried several others but I keep coming back to this specific brand.

I've enjoyed using it with rice and in fish marinades
This was my first purchase of the Marukan brand rice vinegar, as virtually all of my kitchen staples must be ordered online for shipment to my location. Previously I have used Kikkoman rice vinegar, which was all right for my needs, but I prefer the slightly tangy flavor and the aroma of the Marukan. I've enjoyed using it with rice and in fish marinades. Last night we used it as a SUBSTITUTE FOR MALT VINEGAR ON FRENCH FRIES and it was a great light flavorful change! I'm glad that I found this item. I will buy it again.

Bad packaging!
I love this vinegar but the packaging was awful! The bubble wrap was taped to the product so throughly that as I struggled to free the bottles portions of the label came off and left my hands sticky! I often have a bottle on the table for people to flavor their salads but now they are ugly and sticky!
