This is probably NOT the latest and greatest in technology for a USB NIC. It probably isn't the fastest thing available. However, that is exactly why I bought this. This USB NIC works awesome for doing an OS install on a computer because the necessary drivers are part of Windows Base Media. Once you install the OS from a USB key or Optical Media, you need to get all of the unique drivers for your hardware to get the system working properly. Typically, after the OS install, the monitor/screen is in a low resolution mode because you need a graphics driver and your NIC will not work because you don't have the NIC driver. You can use physical media to get the drivers on the system or at least to get the NIC working (and then download the rest of the drivers and software). With this NIC, you just plug it in and it gives you wireless network access to go download all the drivers you need. Again, I don't know if this has awesome performance, but it works more than good enough to download all of the drivers to get your system setup. At least with Windows Installs, you just plug this into your computer and you have network access. It just works. It makes getting your system up-and-running optimally easier and faster. For that, I give it 5 stars.

I pulled out my old laptop for my grandson to use for a reading class because it had a touch screen that he was used to in school. I found that it would not discover my own wi-fi network, but could see a bunch of others in my vicinity. I searched online and it seems that some older computer network adapters cannot recognize new 5G wi-fi networks. A recommended solution was a wireless network adapter. I choose this one from Linksys because of company's reputation for reliable business-level network solutions. The adapter immediately solved the issue. I highly recommend this adapter. 5 Stars.

These worked, but not as well as I had hoped. They are not as plug and play friendly as my older, more beloved Linksys wireless adapters. They require a little more setup than their previous counterparts and support is non-existent. If you receive one without the install cd, just return it as the cd is needed to get the basic install going. Drivers online are also pretty much nonexistent. That being said, they were a notable increase in speed and more reliable than their old brethren once they DID get properly installed. They are a bit bigger and DO require a USB 3.0 or above for decent speed. They WILL work on USB 2.0, but I do not recommend it as the speed is cut drastically. Check for the CD. Install to a USB 3.0 of higher.

I've used one of these for years on an old desktop computer. Bought this one to replace an existing one I had damaged moving the computer. Was easy to set up with a disk provided.

Easy install. My wifi card went out and this was a great alternative

No installation software included. Linksys web site very difficult to navigate. Found out later they had removed the software needed for use on my computer. Gave up and will return to Amazon.

Wifi signal jumped by 100mbps. The printed instructions attempt to take you to a URL that no longer functions on the linksys website. You have to manually search for the driver on the linksys website itself under support by entering the model number. Once you download the driver, install it without the Wifi adapter plugged in. Reboot your computer, then plug in the adapter and voila, it works great!

Meh, it’s very buggy and lags time to time. I have to unplug it after 30 minutes
