When we renovated our summer home, we thought about putting in a built-in ice maker. Given the seasonal use of the home however, it really didn't make sense to do that. This ice maker is the perfect solution. CAPACITY: We purchased this ice maker to use for a recent weekend gathering of about 25 people over 3 days. Having to keep refilling an ice bucket or a cooler or, even worse, having people in and out of the kitchen freezer ice maker, were not appealing options! I admit that I was worried that this wouldn't keep up with the demand - I was very wrong. This machine makes more ice than you think! I just had to periodically check the water level and keep it filled which wasn't a big deal at all. And the machine keeps it chilled/frozen but doesn't clump it together. SIZE OF CUBES: The size of the ice is great! The pellets are about 1/2" cube (but round-ish) - perfect for cocktails and filling a glass of ice water on a hot day! NOISE: I don't find this appliance noisy at all. You can periodically hear the ice dropping in and it churning but I don't think it sounds any different than any other ice maker - built in or otherwise. EASE OF USE: EASY! EASY! EASY! We use it every weekend. Even if it is just a few of us, I plug it in when we get down on Friday and have been religious about draining the appliance at the end of every weekend so water doesn't sit in it (yuck). You just discard any remaining ice out of the collector, pop the drainage tubes from the back and hang them down to drain. It's really simple. Make sure that you leave a container for drainage under the unplugged tubes. I found out the hard way that even though the water has completely drained, some of the residual freezing water may still need to thaw and drain out. (OK - it's my new toy - I will admit it!) Filling the reservoir - I agree with other reviews --> if you fill it using a big water jug or pitcher, it can get a little "splashy". So I use a 24 oz plastic Nutribullet cup and that works like a charm - more pour control, less chance of it pouring out/over the sides of the pull-down door. Problem solved there! VALUE FOR MONEY: Worth it!!! I had been looking at the expensive GE ice makers that run into $600-$700 range and couldn't justify spending that kind of money. We purchased this appliance during a lightning deal sale for $340!!! We are very happy with the price we paid especially for the product it provides. SPEED: This makes ice pretty fast! And whatever sensor this thing has, it will start making ice as the collector bucket gets emptied by people (as long as there is water in the bottom). APPLIANCE SIZE: I consider this pretty compact compared to others I've seen and used in the past. It's too tall to slide under some standard wall cabinets. So double check your spacing between counter and wall cabinets. FLAVOR: I gave a 5-star rating for the "Flavor" rate feature but I don't know if that has to do with the machine, the water used and/or with maintenance. What I can say is that we use filtered water - not sure if that makes a difference in performance and taste but we absolutely don't have an issue with taste. I use the filtered water versus tap because we have "hard" water where we are and heaven only knows what is in that water!! And, as previously noted, I drain it at the end of every weekend which is super easy! I never just unplug and let water sit in the lines. ICE USAGE: You can definitely put this ice in a cooler for icing down beverages but you can't unload the ice into a standard kitchen ice tray for use later - it will turn into one big clump of ice cubes. The ice is meant to stay in the ice bucket in the machine where it chills to keep the ice at the perfect consistency. So don't think you can mass produce ice for use later in an ice bucket. This IS the perfect electric ice bucket!! Just periodically check the water levels and it will keep cranking!! Buy this even if it is just for your immediate family but especially if you like to entertain! You won't regret it.

Really enjoy the ice and works great. However, when the machine turns on to begin the cycle of making ice, it emits a loud squealing or high pitched long squeal I guess you can say. It sound like something is moving, causing it to happen. I believe it happens while it beginning to get cold to form ice. This happens before ice begins to drop and so concluded it is from it cooling and some moving part being affected by the cold. Stops once ice falls or begins to fall. I ignore the sound as it happens not too often, only when ice maker begins ice making. Can deal with it for the ice it produces. Also, I believe there is somewhere it mentions the ice doesn't melt as fast or stays longer. That isn't true. It melts right away, even in a vacuumed sealed flask. Maybe I read it somewhere, so could be not related to the maker but the type of ice it produces. Just an insight on the ice this makes. Great ice maker, some issues, but definitely makes a lot of ice. I have it connected with my fridge with both sharing a 0.5 micron water filter. Expensive water filter, but worth having extremely purified water with nothing affecting taste or quality. Update: Been a few months. Have MAJOR issues with the machine. Ice machine apparently was used or something. Under Oregon's Right to Repair Law, i decided to open up the ice maker to see what is going on as the sound was extremely loud squealing and water started to go everywhere.... opened it.... AND THE MACHINE IS 100% USED!!! There is some sort of thick white salty looking substance and water all over in the top portion of the machine, some sort of Gray silicone sealer all over, pieces of Styrofoam broken and screws missing. This looks as if the machine has leaked for quite some time and am not sure about the white stuff everywhere. When i opened the top reservoir, it was filled with the white salty stuff and all the tube are all filled with it. Was wondering why ever since I got it, the drain tubes were slow at draining. When the major issues arise, i attempted to turn the clean cycle on, it went on, then stopped and finished. Did this about 4 times because every time i started the machine up again, it began loud squealing when the ice i assumed began to be formed. I messaged the manufacturer as i think someone may have previously owned this unit and did the old switcheroo or some steps were missed on quality control and separating defective units from new ones. I decided to remove some more parts, since I am allowed to, and everything was in disarray. Missing screws, stripped screws, Grey silicone in place of where it looks like O-Rings should have been at, and the center shaft that moves the ice, was just caked with some sort of hardened white salty looking stuff in which I cannot remove without a flat head. It looks as though this was used where someone may have had very bad hard water or a lot of calcium in their water or something else. I cant explain how this got so bad. This looks like it may have taken a few years to happen or something. It stumps me. Unless someone attempted to clean the unit and used some sort of cleaner that did this. Anyways, hoping to get a response from manufacturer soon. Great ice maker, just wished it was new and not defective. Update 1/3/2025: Contacted manufacturer of the situation. They emailed me right away and let me tell you, never had this good of customer service before. I was planning on just replacing the ruined parts and getting it running again, but the representative said that they will send me a new ice maker. I have the representative all my details and the ice maker details, Amazon transaction #, etc and they requested a picture of the label on the ice maker. Sent it and waiting to hear back. So far so good. I will keep this updated as I go along the process. Lengthy review, but this is me reviewing the product and service and should be detailed to provide my experience. I mean the ice maker is of great quality and seeing the customer service they provide, definitely a rare moment and company whom help their consumers. Until I update again... Update Final: 11/30/2025: The replacement ice maker began squealing. I have been descaling the maker every sunday. Has been totally fine and no issues up until a few weeks ago. The ice maker started making a really loud squealing noise. I had ran the clean cycle and descaled it about 8 times within the past few weeks as i was told to follow some steps, including keeping it unplugged for 24 hours then descaling. Nothing has worked. I contacted them and just put me through the same stuff ive been doing. This product and the one before has a defect that makes the machine last only so long. Its as if they are doomed to last only less than a year. I have been refused to be given another machine as they go by the original purchase date of the machine, not the replacement. It was good while it lasted, but if this brand has two machines of two given with the same loud squealing noise within a year if you go by individual ownership of the machine than purchase and replacement dates, then it may be best to switch to a different and yet cheaper brand since higher priced item always isnt the best quality. Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me. A note to add though. The squeeling is one of two things. Either a seal has failed or something is wrong with the part that cuts the ice as it reaches the top of the spiral cooling cyclinder. I had reached my hand to see because it makes ice then it stops and no ice drops and the squeeling starts. What i felt was ice possibly uncut and frozen in place, preventing the spiral thing to turn, allowing the ice to continue to freeze and be cut at the end. It could be the mechanism that turns the spiral shaft that moves the ice as well as cut could be defective, not strong enough to cut the ice or something else. I dont know. All i know is that the ice is frozen in place as if it wasnt cut and just froze the whole thing from moving. Dont buy this product unless you can fix the machine once awhile or figure a solution seperate from the manufacturer. Wished it worked out, but this brand is a no go.

Excellent machine. I have to admit, I was worried when, after about 6 months, the machine started making horrible squealing noises, white flakes started to appear in the water reservoir, and the machine stopped producing ice. I reached out to GEVI for warranty assistance and they told me that the noises were coming from the pump being “frozen”, and that I should attempt to descale the machine if I hadn’t already. I realized soon thereafter that they meant that it was frozen from the scale buildup. Which didn’t make sense to me, because we always had it filled with either filtered water from a Brita, or water from the line in that had an inline filter on it. And it was today that I learned there is a difference between what the filters can do, and what a water softener does. I ran the descale process and now the machine is working like a champ once again. Every once in a while it still makes a quick chirp of a squeal - I’m imagining there was so much scale buildup, that there’s still some residue inside the machine that I’ll need to keep working on to get rid of. But all in all, there was never anything wrong with the machine as far as the build quality goes - and the only problem was with the water that we feed it. This machine makes THE BEST ice, and we are very happy to have it working again. (The picture with the scale is after the 3rd or 4th rinse after performing the descale. There was just so much buildup, no wonder the machine was struggling. Not its fault. Now I now that I have to descale this machine probably about every other month with my water supply, at least until we install a softener)

I absolutely loved this ice machine and it ran flawlessly on our counter for nearly 18 months until it just suddenly stopped sucking up water from the basin. you can hear the pump run, but no water is pulled in. Tried numerous cleaning cycles, pure white vinegar, etc...the pump always sounds the same (dry) and the "needs water" light comes on after about 30 seconds of turning it on despite the basin being completely full. As this was well out of warranty I cracked it open and was pretty stunned to see the growth of scale/sediment/crystals/whatever all over just about everything inside the unit itself. while I have no idea if this contributed to the failure or blockage of the pump, it sure doesnt bode well for longevity either way! I also attempted to backfeed the two lines to no avail (the basin still drains fine, so its clearly not the little screen or inlet in the back of the basin itself. I am at a loss, while I did absolutely love the product paying 400 dollars for it to break in less than 2 years makes it pretty darn expensive for pellet ice! anyway, I figured id at least share the review in case anyone else was considering the purchase or any existing owners experience the same thing

Update: A couple days after this review went live on Amazon Gevi reached out and wanted to make it right. All i had to do was pack it up and take it to our drop off place. After I dropped it off I emailed Gevi to let them know and they IMMEDIATELY sent out another. It arrived within a couple days and was able to get it up and running immediately. So far it runs perfectly. It isn't loud but has a hum. However it is a little louder when the ice is being made but nothing crazy. I'm just really grateful to Gevi for reaching out to make it right. It was unexpected and really shows how much a company cares to do the right thing. Thank you! Amazon-do better! First review: First off, the tiny bit my ice maker did work, i loved it. It's not loud, makes fantastic ice and the ice that sits in the maker lasts longer than most other ice machines. However, the moment we first put water in it leaked from the bottom. And i don't mean tiny tinkles, I'm talking Jesus opened the flood gates over here. About 3/4 of the water was on the counter and the floor faster than you can squish a tick. We looked inside and you can't see anything broken so it must be internal or bc the inside is black plastic it is hard to see anything like a reservoir that's cracked. Well, when the box was delivered it was delivered to my back porch. I was sitting on my couch which faces the patio door to said porch. I just so happened to see the delivery resting the box percariously on top of the gate for the porch. In one swoop it was shoved by the driver, dropped a good 3.5 feet and landed on top of another package. I get that it's heavy but he could have opened the gate. Did this have anything to do with my $500 ice machine being broken? Who knows but it's not good either way. So i reached out to Gevi to explain how I need an ark if i try to make ice. She kindly explains that the warranty is still good under Amazon and that I can reach out to them to fix the situation. You know what I got from Amazon? A great big aww that sucks, how about we trouble shoot or you can return it for a refund and buy another one. Great! Did the troubleshooting but nothing worked. So what's next? Refund. Except I bought it just 4 days ago from Amazon on sale for $400 and now the price is up well over $500. So Amazon won't send me another ice maker, Gevi won't send me another ice maker. I return this and I'm only getting $400 back so I'm not buying another Gevi. Which upsets me bc i really like it what little it did work. The warranty should be honored and bc Amazon uses computers for everything I'm screwed. If it wasn't broken it would be a great ice maker. Guess I'll be trying a diff brand next. Ugh what a mess. Litetally.

We purchased this machine December 17, 2023. This is our 5th Ice maker (the first from this manufacturer), so we had incredibly high hopes. We have been DELIGHTED with every aspect of owning this machine for the last 7 months!! Makes Ice quickly, bucket is always full, ice quality is outstanding, cleaning cycle is easy to operate. For the last week, the machine has been showing the low water level indicator, we check the reservoir, water is still full. We close the door. The machine begins making ice again and continues for about 15-30 minutes. The add water indicator comes back on. Check the reservoir. Yep. Still full. Close the door. Machine starts making Ice again. Continues for 20-30 minutes. Yep...you guessed it. Add water light is back on. Reservoir is still full. What isn't full?? Our ice basket. We have cleaned the machine. Plugged and unplugged the machine. Emptied the reservoir completely and cleaned it. Turned the machine off for a few minutes, then back on again. Nothing has helped. Every morning the ice bucket is nearly empty after a full night of the machine thinking there isn't enough water to make any ice. Such a disappointment. We were willing to pay more for a machine that would perform well, since we have already been disappoint 4 times with other machines. This machine had some great reviews, so we took a chance. Honestly, we were SO HAPPY with the performance of this machine. It was even quiet!! We simply can't afford to pay $500 every 7 months to maintain a working Ice maker. I wish it would have at least made it to Fall. With 112° days here in California, this is the worst moment to lose our Ice maker. So sad. 😢

My mom and I could not be more elated to have this! We used to have an Opal ice maker and the Opal is nothing compared to this. I’ve had it for about a week, completely silent, I hear the ice drop into the bucket every now and then but other than that you don’t know it’s there. It’s so easy to fill with water and holds a decent amount. It will fill to the brim of the bucket full of ice one night and still be full the next morning. It’s so low maintenance, the cleaning was so so easy, and took about five minutes. Not to mention it’s literally beautiful, it matches my moms aesthetic so well. It’s sleek, matches everything, and is small enough to fit in our tiny kitchen perfectly. If you’re thinking about getting an ice maker, I highly suggest this one. The ice is superior to literally any other I’ve tried, including Sonic. So crunchy and flaky. And while this is a little bit more on the pricy end it’s absolutely worth it, you can tell it’s high quality, I can see this thing lasting us years. Not to mention their customer service is stellar, incredibly quick responses, genuine care. *Note* Every ice machine is prone to hard water deposits which can degrade your machine over time, no matter the quality. Make sure you’re using distilled water and cleaning it at least every two weeks. It makes a world of difference!

I have had this machine for a few years. I have had my issues over the years with squealing and freezing up. I have taken the machine apart many times to clean out hoses. Until finally, I spent a session with AI talking about this machine and sending it videos of my issues. Come to find out, you need not just a descaler/cleaner BUT a sanitizer. I ran the sanitizer through several times on the cleaning cycle and thew amount of black film that came out was disturbing. I have since moved to running a descaler 2-3 times 1 day a month and then a week later running the sanitizer 2-3 times in a day. No more squealing and ice is perfect. I ordered this ice maker as a gift for my girlfriend, The product arrived within one day which was before the expected date. The product arrived in good condition and was packaged well. My girlfriend loves the ice maker, it makes quite a bit of ice and keeps it cold for 8 hours or so. I would recommend this seller and rate the product and transaction 5 stars.
