How large a surface area can you cover with one jar?

I had a large French style dressing table with triple mirrors and ornate mouldings to the mirror surrounds,drawers, and legs. I highlighted all the mouldings with the gilt cream and it used just a slight scrape from the top surface leaving some untouched, so it depends on what you want to do, a solid colour or highlights but one jar goes a very long way. Hope that helps!

Would be ok on leather or coloured paper

can the Gilt Cream be used outdoors on a house sign?

I have only used it for picture frames, I doubt it would stand up to weathering outside. In a sheltered porch it could be ok.
