easy to use
Have the 18V LXT drill, Only purchased needed to re-grout bath room, great machine and with the grouting blade job was very fast. This machine will come in handy, love the quick change mechanism, does not get hot like others highly recommend

Heavy duty and like the keyless blade change
I have had a Bosch multi-tool for many years and it has never let me down. I do a lot more outdoors now, and unpacking, fixing tool, getting extension lead out etc. is a pain. I have a lot of the Makita stuff so gave this a go. 1st impression is that it is a lo heavier than a corded Bosch. Grip is good though and balance not bad. I opted for the keyless change model, and to be honest I love it. Used it the forst day i got it to trim down some barbecue grill - so cutting through thing enameled wire. Knife through butter. Used the cheaper Saxton blades, and they fit perfectly, and performed well. A very handy tool to have, and so versatile for some many jobs. This is heavy duty and should last. I love the Makita tools, as you can get every part if you have a problem, but I have had very few failures on Makita items, and generally due to older models needing new brushes which is a quick part order and 5 mins to replace.

Cool tool
Love this bit of kit for the variety of things it can do, especially finessed cutting. I find the sanding sheets slide a bit from the Velcro patch and sanding intricate corners of coving or skirting is probably easier to do manually. I like the quick release but the lock feels like it might break after a short time. If it doesn’t then it’s a great value catch for the money.

Excellent product
I bought this to replace my old Makita DTM50Z Multi-tool, which finally stopped working after years of heavy use. The 51Z has a major improvement over the 50Z, which is the tool-less accessory clamp that secures any attachment you put on the machine. With the 50Z, if you put a saw blade on the machine you had to use a hex wrench to secure the blade. Unfortunately, when using the 50Z the vibration would make the saw blade work loose quite quickly, which was extremely annoying. The tool-less accessory clamp on the 51Z is a massive improvement. The only downside with the 51Z over the old 50Z is that the latter had a light that came on in use, whereas the 51Z no longer has a light, doubtless due to the new accessory clamp being in the way. In conclusion, I would definitely recommend the 51Z over the old 50Z - it’s a much better machine.
