Excellent Vietnamese Coffee filter
This is an excellent little contraption. Good quality and exactly the same as the ones I saw being used in Vietnam. Makes very good - and strong - coffee. It is effectively three filters. One inside the container, one on the bottom of the container and one in the little plate that holds the container on the cup. All stainless steel and no throw-away paper or plastic required. If you don't like strong coffee you can remove the inner filter I guess. This and my "Joy Revolve" stove top Moka pot are my go tos for making excellent coffee. Highly recommend this, especially for the price!

Works like a Charm
I do have a smaller Phin I've previously been using so I kind of know how to get the best out of them but I wanted a much larger one to fill my Coffee Bucket in the mornings. For my first attempt in this larger Phin I used genuine Vietnamese coffee which as I've reviewed elsewhere is a tad chocolatey and has quite dense thick grounds. The first brew took ages to drip through, a problem if had with this coffee with my smaller Phin, so for my next attempt I used two very heaped teaspoons of my regular grounds and it was spot on. Took just over five minutes and e result was a great mug of coffee. One thing I've found is don't be tempted to compress the grounds with the gravity plunger just let it rest on top otherwise you can both block the filter holes and make the coffee too compact so it takes forever to drip through. Use a glass cup if you can, watching the drips is hypnotic. Also, I would suggest you really can't use these Phin's without trying the genuine Vietnamese experience, put condensed milk in your cup/mug first, absolutely delicious. All in all, yep give it a go, makes great coffee once you get the hang of it which isn't hard and the Phin is easy to clean up afterwards.

Makes good coffee.
Bought on a whim after watching a YouTube video. Cheap and cheerful but makes actually quite decent coffee, but6be prepared to experiment a bit with dose and grind to suit your taste. This one (smallest) was decently finished with no sharp metal edges. Watch the dimensions though - this one is small.

Simple but Perfect
Exactly what I was looking for after seeing it in a restaurant in Norwich. It looks and is very simple but with the right coffee which is available on Amazon works perfectly. Great price as well.

If you like Vietnamese coffee these are good value.
Medium size coffee drippers. They are well made, attractive to look at, easy to use and clean and the drip is slow and gentle. You must use these with the correct coffee grind. Buying Vietnamese coffee grind from Amazon with these is recommended.

The dripper so good I bought it twice
My mate accidentally bought some Vietnamese coffee a few weeks back and after some failed attempts at making it in a French press he asked me if I want the coffee. Being a lover of Vietnamese coffees after my bowl of Pho in a restaurant I thought why not so came over here to purchase a dripper. And wow. This guy is perfect. Arrived the next day after ordering and I was off at the races the next morning. Read the superb instructions and set myself up for failure before my first meeting of the day. You know what it's like with a new coffee brewing method....always hit and miss til you dial it in....you have to keep messing about...fail...improve...fail again....revise... slowly and surely you get your brewing method right NOT THE CASE WITH THIS BAD BOY! First brew came out spot on even without adding condensed milk. It was sweet and bitter and full bodied. Perfect. The wife came back from walking the dogs and made her and iced one. Nailed it again. Daughter came back from the gym. Made her an icey one.... perfect again. Went straight on Amazon and ordered another dripper so I can make two at a time. Perfect product.

Nice quality metal BUT poor performance but great customer service
Edit: Shortly after leaving this review, the sellers contacted me to offer a full refund, which is great customer service :) I ordered the Large size as other reviewers noted the medium was a bit small and going off the helpful photo the supplier shows comparing different sized cups, I figured it would be the best size for me. As a comparison from myself, in the attached photo is an old model I bought IN Vietnam on travels some years ago. That one fills what I would call a "medium" cup (with saucer, on left). The Large one supplied via Amazon this month fills a fairly standards sized mug (the one on the right being from a print on demand shop). The quality of the metal on the new model reviewed here is great. No complaints there for the money! My original one comes with a screw down filter, and the external plate on the bottom is welded to the filter body. Unfortunately the screw filter has, after about 10 years of regular use, stopped working well. So the new one with its press down "gravity" press seemed like a better idea. The only problem with this is that the diameter of the gravity press is a good few mm less than that of the body, so it rattles around. I appreciate I'm being picky here, but... When you fill it with water, the press doesn't have enough friction on anything to hold it in place, and the pressure of the water counteracts the pressure from gravity... so the press mostly just floats, which allows the coffee grind to settle on top of it and the water flows through the body far too quickly to get a good strong coffee. I tried it a number of times, pressing down harder on the coffee to compact it more, and the result is the same - too fast a flow, weak coffee and a mess of grinds on top of the press, making it much more messy to clean. Also, the plate at the bottom is NOT attached to the body, so when you lift that up there's invariably some additional dripping which makes a bit more mess. Muscle memory is hard to overcome... My old model actually held the coffee in place, compacted it nicely so that after making the nice strong cuppa, one firm tap on the kitchen compost bin = 95% clean. I was going to send this new one back but it's too much hassle for the price. Will definitely be looking for another screw down model instead as it's far easier to control the strength (and mess). If anyone is curious what the black bits on the side are - they're just there to lift the potentially scalding hot body off the cup safely, which is a nice touch.

Sehr empfehlenswert.

Kleine Kaffeemaschine/Filter - Kaffeezeremonie
Für mich die kleinste Kaffeemaschine der Welt, die in jeden Rucksack passt. Mit gutem Filterkaffee, auch vietnamesischen Kaffee, eine entspannende Kaffeezeremonie.
