have aico el141 alarm is it compatable with el141rc as do not want to change base

Contrary to the other answers here, I could not get these to fit, and ended up having to replace the bases too (which, fortunately is a straightforward job). With the old bases removed from the ceiling, one of the two alarms I was replacing could just about be forced on, but certainly not when it was attached to the ceiling.

I am due to replace 2 mains heat alarms model ei144. is it possible to use existing base to replace one with ei141rc mains smoke alarm

Hi. As others have said, the existing base should work fine with the replacements. As far as I know (but I might be wrong!) the triggering of the second alarm if one goes off will only happen if an extra wire (interconnect) is already in place between the two devices.
