25 Essential Skills and Strategies for the Professional Behavior Analyst: Expert Tips for Maximizing Consulting Effectiveness

This book was assigned as the text for our Professionalism for Behavior Analyst class and I must say it was great text that fostered many interesting classroom conversations of people dealing with everyday professional issues. Bailey and Burch provide sound strategies for the behavior analyst. Behavior analysts today are working in homes, public schools and the business setting where they are constantly being confronted by a slew of professional dilemmas that they need to work through in addition to being a consultant. Twenty-Five Essential Skills and Strategies for the Behavior Analyst by Bailey and Burch offer exactly that, strategies in order to be a more effective behavior analyst. The one area of the text that I feel was a bit lacking was the parent component. Many behavior analyst work in the homes of their clients, which can often present professional dilemmas that the behaviorist must tactfully navigate. I would have liked to see this area be addressed more in the text by the authors. I feel that they offered many strategies for the behavior analyst in the corporate or business sense that are not as relatable to the typical behavior analyst working I schools or homes. Overall I would recommend this book to read even if it were not an assigned text as it does provide valuable information and tools for the new behavior analyst.

This was a very clear and interesting read. I actually skipped ahead in the class and finished it quick. It put a lot in perspective for me. I have used some of the strategies in my life already and seen an improvement.

Very helpful for all BCBAs, and a must read. This book and its authors help the BCBA examine their skills, learn how to improve them, and measure said improvement.

This book is written in plain English. It is full of practical, helpful and essential information for the person seeking to be a behavior analyst.

The code of ethics can be applied to anywhere and the way the authors use both humor and scientific resources makes it worth keeping.

Recently completed a semester using this book as one of the primary texts while teaching a graduate course at Caldwell College entitled "Ethics and Professionalism for Behavior Analysts." Universally, my advanced level behavior analysis grad students all had wished that they had read this book earlier in their careers. They had nothing but praise for it. This text is highly recommended for behavior analysts who assert that their good clinical skills alone will propoel them towards success. They might find that there is a whole new set of skills they had not thought about before!

I am currently a BCBA grad student and I must say this book is very helpful. This is a very good guide and very beneficial to BCBAs who are and will be working in the school system.

Bought this for a university class. Was about $15 cheaper than my campus store. Very easy read and easy to follow. Lots of great information and very helpful book. Came a little damaged but that can be expected when ordering books to be delivered

This is a very useful book and is very applicable to the field of ABA. If all behaviour analysts applied the skills mentioned in this book, our field would have a lot more success in demonstrating to others that ABA can contribute significantly to society.

This is a very practice book, that is easy to read!

For ordering this last minute, I'm very pleased with the time it came at - within the next day. The description did say that there was mild scuffing on the corners and they weren't wrong. It was exactly what I had ordered; minimal previous damage and appears to be unmarked and barely used.
