An essential to every chicken owner. Very easy to install and set up. It opens and closes according to sunrise/sunset. The company, run-chicken have been amazing- even after several months they were on hand 24/7 to assist with minor technical issues which were resolved very quickly. Highly commended customer service and great product. A must buy.

I live in Ireland so it's not extremely cold but it's wet. This door, however, hasn't had a problem at all. We've been through a winter cold snap of -6 and two storms (not too mention the usual rain) but the door has kept going. It's not fully exposed as I have it under a part of the run that has polythene over the top, but it can get wet and is certainly taking the frosty weather. I originally tried a cheaper brand of door and was extremely frustrated. The cheaper door opened and closed perfectly in my kitchen but wouldn't work as soon as it was damp or chilly. So I'd definitely recommend this one even though its that little bit more expensive.

Love this door even more than the chicken guard I originally had installed..The anti pinch system is a big seller for me, which is missing from the chicken guard..A solid door, easy to install and an app to easily program opening and closing times.

I bought 2 of these and they wouldn't open or close when set to light and dark, even could hear them trying to open when packed in box ready to return,,, I bought a couple of slightly more expensive one's and there working brilliantly and they we're made in UK

I’m changing my 5 star review to 3 stars. While the door works and always closes two points have made me lower the overall rating. Firstly the door never goes down fully the first time. It always seems to think there an obstruction and comes halfway down and back up then down all the way. I’ve tried loosening all the screws to the point it wasn’t very secure, but that didn’t help. Second point. This month is my 1 year anniversary of owning the door and the paint in peeling off. Leaving bare metal underneath that is already starting to show signs of rust. So it looks like I’ll either have to contact the seller to see if they’ll do anything about it or have it sanded / sand blasted and re painted 😩 this is not something I would expect after 1 year and the door been out of rain and direct sun.

Been operational for about a month with no issues. Easy to set up and does what it says on the tin.

While the timing function works and the door opens and closes when programmed, the images on the ad show what's clearly a wireless connection between a phone and the door. This is NOT the case - the app simply makes your phone screen flash in a certain way after changing settings and you hold the phone to the door's light sensor to program it. The ONLY way to manually open the door is to press the small button on the device itself. I needed a door which could be remotely opened manually should any of our chickens still be out when the scheduled close time is reached and the door closes - remote operation allows us to re-open the door and close when the chickens are all in. Considering this door is simply a timer or light sensor open/close, this is very basic for the price - there's others that do the same for half what this one is.

I had heard about chicken door openers and came to Amazon to search for one. As I was scrolling through the products, I found this one. To be completely honest, what drew my attention to the product was that it was cheaper than the alternatives found on Amazon. I know cheaper isn't always better, and so I emailed the seller some questions about its quality and durability. I was pleased and surprised at how fast they got back to me with answers. My two concerns were snow and daylight. I live in a part of the country where we get snow, and I was worried it might not deal with colder temperatures and snow. Second, my coop is in a part of the yard where it gets less light. So, I wasn't as much worried about it opening early (or late) as I was concerned about closing early (before the chickens were ready to come in). I saw other products that had timers and/or day and night sensors, but very few adjustments. What intrigued me about the response from the company was that this was built and tested in cold environments so there were adjustments to deal with snow and daylight without having to constantly adjust the product or a clock or a sensor. Given Amazon's return policy and the company's quick and thoughtful responses, I decided to give it a try. The package arrived quickly; and not that this matters too much, but it's in a really cool enclosed design. So, everything was protected and ready to install. I half thought about using the shipping box as part of the attachment for the coop, but I realized it wasn't pressure treated. You'll see in the picture and video from the company that they install it on a wood chicken coop. But I have a TS wood+wire one. So, I took some pressure treated wood and created a panel for the door. On the back side, I cut a hole in the wire and then stapled the wire to the back of the frame. Outside of the time it took me to cut and paint the pressure treated wood, I would say the install took 20 minutes. My chickens took a day or two to get used to it, but it worked great. My problem was that one chicken kept staying out later and kept getting locked out. So, following the directions, I just turned the knob (what they call the "potentiometer" a quarter turn) and it was stayed open a little later--enough time for my late chicken to come home. Easy adjustment. The last few days, we had some snow. And again, it worked great. All in all, I only had one problem that is more of a design flaw for me on where I put the door. The door faces west and so I get a lot of snow/rain blowing in. On days that are warmer (above freezing) and then colder at night (below freezing), I did have the door freeze shut (e.g., I went out in the morning and it wasn't open). Again, enter the designers. They created dip switches to manage how much power the door gets. They recommend for slow/low motor to protect the chickens (think French guillotine). But, I had to move it up to high so that if that did happen, it would break through the little bit of ice that formed. Overall, I would recommend this product and would purchase it again. The company is really good on responding to questions. For the record, if you go with this product OR any chicken door, and you live in the cold, think about door placement as almost all roofs won't protect rain/sleet from getting in the door slot. But, again, I think the dip switches on this model help with those issues.

Great thing, you can install it and just forget about it and it will do what it's supposed to. And the app for it improves constantly. Only one time in winter the water that got in the notches of the door froze and it couldn't move so you should clean it from time to time.

I've had a window screen cat flap for many years and the cats have come and gone as they like. But in recent times housing development in my area has put pressure on wildlife and now we have coyotes wandering our subdivision streets at night and sometimes in the daytime (and turkeys). I lost 2 cats to these coyotes. I closed the cat flap and then looked for another way to control when the cats could go in and out. I did not buy the cat doors that require a microchip because feedback mentioned that those collar chips had to be in a perfect position to work and the door makes a noise that scares shy cats. The cost of those cat flaps was the same as this Chicken Run. The Chicken Run door was big enough that my window screen cat flap could flap in or out with this in place and there would be no need for microchips so I bought one to try. I installed it on the inside with a wood frame butted up against the window screen cat flap and it works perfectly. It opens at 7:30 a.m. and closes at midnight. The sound of it opening is not scary to the cats; now, they can come and go as they like during the day. Also by closing at midnight, it prevents any raccoons from coming in the door as well - which hasn't been a problem. I do recommend this Chicken Run door. Note that it runs on 2 AA batteries which ARE INCLUDED. Set up is done on your cell phone - you download the free Chicken Run app from the App store and pair the device to your phone. Then you set the times you want or program it to open and close by the sun's light. It's easy to program. I am very happy with this device.
