Hi, is this cork board double sided?

No, it's cardboard with a cork lining on one side. It's very poor quality. So thin that pins go straight through to the wall.

Would you be able to remove the frame from the board? I want to fabric cover the cork board, paint the frame, and then reassemble

It's realÅy flimsy... I doubt if if it would stay in tact as this is a very cheap frame. I bought it to cover in Fabric, but it needs a tonne of batting as the cork/cardboard is so thin. If you definitely want to take apart, this is not for you I'm afraid.

Do you think this would be a good board for pins?

Is not the best but will handle it :) I used pins on mine but you need to be careful with the wall behind.

Will a 42 x 59cm map fit on it?

The dimensions are 40cm by 60cm so you will loose 2cm off map
