can this be used in a sump

I hung mine on the sump.. I didn't use it bout a month ill sell you mine in box if intrested

GFO can be used in this reactor?

GFO media is normally too small of a pellet to use in a direct down-flow reactor in my experience.

Up until now, this is been used under my tank. I would like to hang it on the side of my tank, but the bracket doesn’t fit. It is not wide enough.

You don’t want to hang it on the tank, the accesssive bacteria will harm for tank more. It need to be next to a skimmer so the skimmer can pull it back out. Sorry the bracket didn’t fit, it’s not designed to fit all. Some tanks are wider than other.
