Another hit for this author!
Lets talk about this amazing author and the Lucas world she's built... Brilliant is what they both are! This is a spin off with minimal crossover characters😞 Which means You don't get the full on crazy, brilliant character of Ida Sue in this book. So, I highly suggest you read all the Lucas Brother books now, like one click buy, borrow, steal but get them all!Now about this book... I'm going to be honest I didn't love "Big Mike" or the third person persona referenced to him for the first to many chapters! But because of this author, I stuck with it and I'm very pleased to say it is worth it!! This book touches on high school drama, bullying, family dynamics/ dysfunction! What this amazing book reminds me is to not judge a book by the cover, not everyone's life is as perfect as they present or appearances and most importantly don't judge someone until you've walked in their shoes! I absolutely adored Violet, her heart, mind, strength and more importantly her ability to overcome her horrible childhood to make herself who she is and becomes! To be on your own as a child and still have the ability to care for a homeless man, open her heart to see past the "Big Mike" persona! She actually sees the truth that's hidden behind the walls and BS we all hide behind so no one sees the true you! Well that's a special character and in real life we could all learn to be more like Violet! Definitely would have been 5 stars but took me a minute to get into it due to... Once again "Big Mike"!! ugh hitting my forehead on a wall type action and SMH! Because D@mπ!! 💚 Jordan Marie Is a wonderful author read her books, follow her, you'll thank me!

Mike and Violet!
At first glance Mike appears to be living the dreams as he is a star athlete on the field and when it comes to school he not only holds a position of power but he has shown that he can have whatever girl he whenever he wants her. When he meets Violet, she refuses to fall for his charm like ever girl before her and that only makes him more determined to bend her to his will by any means necessary.Violet has dreams for her future, and she isn’t about to let anyone, or anything stand in her way. At times it has forced her to make choices she wouldn’t ordinarily make and even though she owns those decisions she doesn’t want them held against her. Letting Mike too close to her and her could only end in disaster but denying him is easier said than done. Both Mike and Violet bear the emotional scars of the past but in each other they find the love and support that they have never received from each other.

GOOD
Wasn't sure what to expect from the story, but what I got I'm really happy with.I love Violet. That girl is beautiful. And by beautiful I don't mean the physical beauty. Violet life growing up wasn't easy, but she found her dreams despite life throwing curveballs. She's a fighter. I loved her sass and strong personality.Mike... It wasn't easy with him. While from the beginning, I knew how I feel about Violet and it never changed, with Mike it was different. He was right, when he said, that he doesn't let people see the real him. From the first meeting I didn't have 'warm' feelings for him. Mike was a douch canoe, that needed down peg or two. But... The more story unfolds and the more you see the sides Mike hides from the world, the sides he let's only Violet to see, the more you realize, that there so much more to him. You realize, that he's hurting and the persona he presents to the world is his way to hide it or even is a silent scream to save him. Which what Violet does, even if Mike doesn't know that at the beginning.Honestly, I'm not sure which had it worse growing up. Does it even fair to compare? Each has scars from theirs life's, scars that they healed for each other. So, I guess that what matters the most.

Absolutely brilliant
With a beginning like this book has how could you not get hooked straight away?😀 Honestly, it’s a doozy but very effective nonetheless and instantly, as a reader, you have to know how the story plays out.Violet Raines and ‘Big’ Mike Huntington attended Black Mountain Academy and immediately felt a certain chemistry when they first saw each other. Granted their first meeting was a tad unusual 😄 but Mike was one determined fellow and although quite arrogant he was ready for a change in his life. I absolutely loved Violet’s strength and stubbornness, her zest for living the life she wants powering her needs and her caring nature.I enjoyed the slightly different angle of the lead characters being a bit older and although there was definitely angst at the school, there were outside issues as well coexisting to further enhance the story. Once you start reading you join the roller coaster ride of emotions in this book and you literally don’t get off until the very last word, I loved it!I adore the fact that Ida Sue, one of this author’s most amazing characters from her Lucas Brothers series, was in this story. She was every bit as humorous as ever with her throwaway lines and fun banter, although for Ida Sue it might just be serious most of the time. 😂 She’s like a breath of fresh air.Another brilliant story by this fantastic author that I totally recommend to everyone.

Big Mike and Violet are so fun!!
"I'll try and puzzle out the mystery that is Violet Raines later. Somehow, I think she just might be a riddle that I'll never completely solve. And I think I like that."This is such a fun series, I've read a few so far and enjoyed each one in the Black Mountain Academy. This particular book involves Violet, transplant to Black Mountain, and "Big Mike" the previously assumed school player and perceived un-serious person on the planet. A meeting to go down in history as AWKWARD at best, the journey these two take is not straight, but the back and forth had me giggling, they are both endearing, and I enjoyed the tension, the fall, and the angsty happenings. Of course favorites from this Author made some Cameos that had me full out belly laughing. No need to read the other books or in any particular order, but they are a great, fun, binge-able series."Big Mike Huntington healed my heart, even the broken pieces I thought would never be whole again. He's not Mr. Heartbreaker. He's Mr. Wonderful."

Aww such a good book
Really enjoyed this book. Haven't read a YA book for a while. This one hit all the right notes. Violet is a no nonsense girl with her head in straight with a huge heart. Mike is a typical spoilt rich boy who has a huge curve ball thrown his way and he has to grow up in a hurry. Definitely recommend reading this book. Great to see Ida Sue again.

liked but
I love this author and our Ida mae but I struggled with mike. Maybe because it was high school and he was so young and immature, I’d have preferred a bit more maturity. Still read it and enjoyed quite a bit of it.

Great and well written
I thought this book was very well written. It has a more mature feel to it than other bully romances and I'm not saying that in a bad way at all. I loved Mike and Violet's story. It left me with a warm, contented feeling.
