Modern Calligraphy: Everything You Need to Know to Get Started in Script Calligraphy

I have a few calligraphy books and this one is different from the others in that the section on how to form your lettering is fairly short, but there are lots of lovely ideas and instructions for ways to use your calligraphy skills and combine them with other techniques, watercolour in particular. There are lots of tips on how to use a range of materials and the book combines inspiration with practical advice.

One of the great resources I have to hand when learning or developing my calligraphy technique. Arrived in good time and is a great resource. Lots of valuable information. Although it's an American book and the prices quoted are in US$, the techniques and information within are relevant to all.

If you already have some experience in writing Copperplate/Anglaise and hunger for some inspiration, this book is for you. Molly Thorpe gives good advice and very down-to-earth descriptions. Her style is not super exact but this has its charme. And still: you have to practice nonetheless. But a good Copperplate practice session calms your mind.

I like this book, it has a number of projects for your newfound skill and as I lack all imagination but long to be creative, this helps a lot.

This has rekindled my desire to be a calligrapher. As a left hander I hade near given up with broad nib work. Still persevering with broad nibs but this book showed me there is hope with using pointed pen which still makes eye catching modern calligraphic art.

Great book for beginners and for people with experience. There is plenty of variations to try and the tips and theory are very clear and useful. So far it is my favorite about modern calligraphy, I highly recommend it.

Beautiful style however it’s very useful as there are not practice sheet which is not very useful. Its okay If you just want to admire nice calligraphy other not worth it. Shame because Molly”s style is very beautiful. Even if there’re was an associated download practice sheets then it would have been good

Amazing book full of great info for anyone learning caligraphy i just wish i had more time on my hands to studdy it better
