Solid Weather Station, But Expensive
Why did you choose this product over others?: Although it’s a basic weather station, it offers plenty of measurements that seem accurate, and you can link it to online services to share your readings with others. Setup was straightforward and everything worked right away. I’ve had it for quite a while now and haven’t needed to change the battery in the outdoor module yet, which is impressive. The only area for improvement is the app — it hasn’t been updated in a long time and looks quite dated, though the desktop dashboard is much nicer. Overall, I still feel it’s a bit pricey for what it does.

A very well designed system
Very high quality indoor (base/hub) and outdoor sensor modules, with excellent supporting mobile and web apps (both proprietary and third party). I hung the outdoor unit in the shed - on a vacant nail. Didn't need to use the included lanyard or plug & screw. It's about 50m away from the base unit. I had small problem with the setup/registration as I already had some Netatmo cameras. I was already registered and could logon the the other Netatmo apps but the process didn't recognise my details - so tried to re-register and it said I was already registered. We've all been HERE before! Anyhow, I eventually succeeded with my original details - the frustrating part being that I'm not quite sure how. So - no 'lessons learned' for you here. I initially had frequent Wi-Fi disconnections from the base unit. It would work for a few hours and then drop out, and would not reconnect without me unplugging and reconnecting the unit. Went to the various help chats and this appears to be a common issue. BUT one of the recommended solutions from Netatmo is to move the unit away from too much wiring and other Wi-Fi devices. I had parked it on top of a hifi speaker and near one of my many Echos (this one being a Dot). I eventually (after much experimentation) positioned it on the floor, in a corner, and beneath the 'Dot' and the speaker. Perfect - hasn't dropped yet. Two days and counting. I have ordered the rain unit and another indoor sensor in the Black Friday event directly from Netatmo (sorry Amazon, much cheaper). Plenty of photos already loaded, so mine are not needed.

Great starting weather system
A great weather device for those of you that want to monitor your local surroundings in doors and out. I have added the rain meter and an extra sensor too. Given the price I like the system, however I do feel that the web app could be better or more feature rich. Getting out of the box and setting up is very easy indeed, if you have other apps it's great to see your device listed in such apps as Meteo Weather Pro. The great benefit of not having to configure port forwarding to see results not he net is superb too. It really is a plug and play system gives good results for any budding weather enthusiast. You can even take it a step further and publish instant notifications via push alerts using the If This Then That IFTTT service as the Netatmo Weather is part of the service. I did buy the system when it was on offer and although awaiting the wind sensor can say that given the full price of any / all of the kit I would only buy it on the offer price. I do have another system from a german company that is a data logger too and records to the minute intervals. Both systems do suffer the inaccuracy of calibration. The box states what resolution and so forth but when you set it all up and leave them inside you'd expect to see almost identical figures for humidity and temperature across all devices. This aside it's good enough for a starting kit. One real negative is the strap for the outdoor module. The strap will secure to many objects, however the sensor merely slots onto the strap and could easily be knocked off - this would be bad given the price of the individual sensors. The company have definately gone down the route of making the packing and the items very high end Apple looking. Should you buy the rain meter you'll need a good mount too. It does easily blow off given the strong winds we've had.

Avoid at all cost. This device has massive issues if there is a dual 5ghz and 2ghz network active. Many Irish routers (eg eir) arent able to change that (its seriously ancient stuff) so it won’t work in Ireland on around 50-60% of households. Don’t roll the dice - go for a cheaper and better solution (literally anything else) Cheaping out on a 5ghz chip says everything about the company. Avoid - avoid - avoid

Does the job. Stands up well to weather.

The unit looks as though it will provide more placement options for the outdoor module. It comes with multiple attachment accessories. Quality of manufacture is very good. I’ve attached it to a flag pole.
