Great for hobby use. Important application tip inside.
This matte finish, no-spray formulation water-slide paper is a useful alternative for home and hobbyist use. I test drove it to label little bottles of home made syrup from four maple trees I tapped for the first time this spring. (Hang in here with me, as I have an important tip for you that will make you. much happier with your purchase, at least if you are using an ink jet printer. I didn't test with laser.) Here are my review notes: 1. It was easy to discern the backing side from the working side of the stock when though the backing wasn't marked, as often decal paper backing is. (Really, it should be. It isn't that hard to mark it.) 2. With the very paper-like surface, my inks dried as they were coming out of the printer, just as if I were printing on decent quality printer paper, and brushing a hand across the images didn't cause smearing. 3. When I dropped individual cut-out decals into a shallow bowl of water, they released very quickly, quicker than those that have been sprayed tend to. 4. Decals slid from the backing to the bottle surface easily and were easily adjusted while wet, without stretching or distortion. The paper was quite wet, however, and I did handle the decals gently so they wouldn't stretch or tear, as I know this can be a risk. 5. My bottles had the curve of the circumference, and I didn't challenge the decals much to handle curves beyond that, but when I did slide a decal over the shoulder of a bottle to see how it handled the additional curve, it didn't. Not surprising, but I am managing expectations here. Now for my tip: I did see ink smearing happening when I had to manipulate a decal more than others. So for the last two, I reverted to my old workaround, which worked great, and I strongly advise you adopt this method also: Instead of dipping or submerging each decal in water, soak a paper towel or a cloth in water and spread it flat on a plate. Place each decal backing side down on the wetted item and press down on the decal side to make sure all the backing has contact with the wet surface. (The decals love to curl away from the wet surface.) The water will wick up through the backing, which will release the decal just as quickly as if the whole thing were in water, but the decal itself stays dry, or relatively so anyway. Pick up the decal as soon as you can see or feel it releasing from its backing, position it near where it will "live," and slide the backing out from underneath it while simultaneously gently smoothing the decal into place. Adjust with finger or soft cloth and pat dry around the decal. Advantages to this method are: inks don't smear, the decal is less slippery, and the drying time is much reduced. I have used many different water slide decal formulations over the years, searching for a real replacement for the vintage decals used in homes in the 1940s through 1970s-ish, as I reproduce these (I am not doing much with it anymore but still have a large library of the designs and permission to use them from the original producer). This is, once again, not quite right, as they warn to use the decal as soon as possible after printing, meaning it isn't going to last 60 years in somebody's drawer sonewhere like the old ones, but it is a very satisfactory option for many uses and I think will make a lot of hobbyists very happy when they put it to work!

IT DO WHAT IT SAYS IT DO! GOOD QUALITY MUST BUY!!
It do exactly what it says it do! I love it! And it’s water proof! I hand washed my cup i personalized as a tester, so many times it still looks good and sticks! And the balloons I used it on, floated with no problems! I love this! I’ll get again! I need more! First pic is when I placed sticker, second is a few washes.

Solid 8/10
This decal paper is easily my new favorite decal paper to use for projects. The convenience of having ready to go Decals is unmatched. You will no longer need to wait for the Decals to dry after spraying 15 thousand coat of Cancerous sealer before using them. The film itself is not very sticky as opposed to other Decal paper’s I’ve used in the past. I highly recommend using a solution such as “Micro Sol” and “Micro Set” to soften the decals and make them more easier to work with. I won’t explain how to use Micro Sol and Micro Set in this review as their are plenty of YouTube videos to search for giving you step by step instructions on how to use those solutions. The Matte finish threw me off a bit as I am used to working with highly Glossy Decal paper but it’s understandable considering the paper is compatible with Inkjet printers so their needed to be some chances to the paper itself. I would recommend Koala to keep upgrading the product and maybe using a material that will be a bit more Glossy and that will stick better to the surface one is applying the decal to. I would love to see Koala make a Transparent or “Clear” version in the near future. I’ve read some of the reviews and will say to come up with your own judgement once you purchase the decal paper. Most reviewers don’t know how to properly use or make Decals so keep that in mind.

Easy to use and professional results without spray.”
I bought this paper to personalize mugs and thermoses, and I loved that it doesn't require a spray sealer. The print came out very sharp on my inkjet printer, and the colors stayed vibrant after transfer. The matte texture gives it an elegant finish, perfect for gifts. It glides easily with water and won't tear. The designs adhere well to smooth surfaces like glass, ceramic, and plastic. It saves time because you don't need to pre-seal. I recommend this product if you're looking for a practical option for crafts and personalization.

Peeling off after proper install, find something else
Very poor product. I got the clear one to see if that will work, well it didn't. Poor adhesion, it is not very functional since it peeled off overnight. It was somewhat easy to use and the picture quality was good. I was surprised that the ink didn't dissolve in water so it's water resistant and the surface stayed smooth. It looked really promising but a big fail the next morning. I don't recommend koala products for waterslide decals.

Game Changer!
I am impressed. No seal colors are bright. Didn't wash away. Came right off the backing paper and was very easy to apply. Stayed the same color as I printed didn't fade or bleed. Under epoxy stayed perfect. Only bad is they are very thin so you have to use caution when applying it but even though it's a little pricey for only 5 sheets still think it might be cheaper if you use clear spray and I also use plasty dip so I think it isn't as expensive as it seems. Paint has double price in the last year. So might be a bargain and definitely less time considering wait time on clear spray 2 dry scince I usually do 4 to 5 coats. I will be purchasing from now on. Great product.

The transfer itself is opaque white
First off, I'll say I can't use this product as I intended it. It's my fault, I didn't realize that the transfer surface itself was white, I thought it was clear on a white backing. I know the description says "white" but that just didn't register. So IF YOU ARE LOOKING FOR CLEAR BACKED DECALS, THIS ISN'T FOR YOU. I'm not marking it lower because of that--that's on me. However, in contrast to what others have said, when I tested it, it was thicker than I expected, almost felt like a thin piece or rubber and it was too thick for anything in modeling other than a full wrap. It printed sharply. I know that's more a feature of my printer than the paper, but there was no bleed upon printing. However, when I put it in the water to test it, faint halo of bleeding ink came out from the printed area--not a biggie if it dissipated into the water, however it didn't come off in the water at all, it stained the transfer around it. No idea if that's a bad thing from the ink I used (Using an HP printer and HP ink, which I would guess a lot of the other customers are using too). Since my decals are very small (0.3in or 75cm) and detailed and I can't have white showing, it would be impossible for me to trim the white off and make them usable.

Best waterslide paper on the market
After using probably every white waterslide paper on the market, putting up with the transfers sometimes fading and changing colour. Using endless litres of clear (Expensive) fixing sprays, and so many times the transfers wrinkle up in a twisted mess. I am a professional model maker and have used these paperrs for many years. Then I see this product, Koala no need to spray paper, I don't believe it me thinks!! So I got some and have just used the white backed version on my inkjet printer, wow!!! It is just amazing. The pinted colours are 100% accurate, soak in water no bleed whatso ever. Slide off very smoothly and apply so easily, and with good sliding capabilities its great to move into a correct position. Just the best I have ever used, thank you

Poor quality...not working as advertise.
The quality of this is really poor. I was hoping that this would save time not having to spray the coating but ended up costing me much more time and money. Once applied, it would peel off when dried and the failure rate is very high (50% plus). I would not recommend this product.
