There are better resources out there
I acquired a 2007 Subaru Outback (lots of issues with the car; like an a 92yr old former coal miner who shows up at a doctors office) and I was excited for this repair manual. However, I found that a lot of procedures just weren't in the book, or were not detailed at all. Things related to the suspension for example, or changing the mode door actuator. I found that Google and Youtube were more helpful because they had extremely detailed videos of exactly what I needed to do. I don't blame the book at all; it's hard to cram so much information into a few hundred pages.

Learn how to read book first. Amazing manuals
I just got a new manual for my vehicle. And upon reading some reviews I’ve noticed a few things that people don’t seem to think about or realize. When they give you details and instructions onto how to do the things sometimes you will have to go and look up how to do something else first to be able to get you the parts that you need to repair. And it will tell you in there to see section whatever on how to do this before you can proceed to continue on with the repair that you are working on. There’s no point in them doing the teardown instructions 20 times for one thing when they can ride at once and then tell you elsewhere to come and refer back to that teardown . So it’s important to learn how the book is put together and how to read through it and once you do that these manuals are amazing and I have used them for years for all my vehicles that I get and never had an issue. I highly recommend these manuals .

Haynes Subaru Legacy and Outback auto repair manual 2000 - 2009
I was looking for a repair manual which covered basic auto repairs which included pictures and procedures. This manual does that. The information is accurate and helpful for the average auto backyard mechanic. Although I haven't done any major repairs to the engine, trans and drive train the manual covers troubleshooting problems and can help you decide whether to attempt it yourself or go to the professionals. Good value.

Incomplete. Overly broad and does not cover six-cylinder engines
I've used Haynes manuals over the years and always thought them to be one of the better non-manufacturer manuals.I recently purchased this manual so I could maintain my 2008 Legacy 3.0R Limited and was disgusted to find on the inside cover that it didn't include any six cylinder specific information. It would have been great if that fact had been advertised in Amazon's listing and even better if it'd been on the cover of the book. Now I have a book that will be largely useless for anything that involves the engine or is specific to the 3.0R model. As another reviewer noted, the book is overly broad and covers too many models and years. Photographs and diagrams are frequently not helpful or missing and I found myself using my iPad to research tasks which should have been clearly described in the book. A good example of this is something simple like changing the cabin air filter. The book has you hopping back and forth looking for information, but never clearly shows the information. The paper quality is a bit on the cheap side, but given that it's destined to be stained by greasy fingers, it shouldn't matter a lot.I used the book to prepare for a front strut change and the book was helpful. I'm still not a huge fan of the picture quality, but they got the point across.
