Quality and a go to item
Like all Their products, it’s great! Keeps the grit below the water line and it’s fairly easy to pick Up When you’re finished

Great product
These do exactly what they say. They trap the dirt at the bottom of the bucket enabling you to be confident that when you wash your car it wont get scratched.

Fits Meg's yellow buckets like a glove!
I'd searched the answers for the fitment in the good old Meg's yellow buckets and couldn't get clarity on the fitment as lots of reviews say they don't fit all wash buckets. Received mine and it was unscathed, no damage, all holes punched out correctly, basically, it's perfect and to top it off, it fits like a glove in the Meg's buckets sitting approx 1.5'' from the bottom and fits snuggly where I have to tap the bottom of the bucket to dislodge it so I doubt it'll float upwards when filled with water/shampoo.

Check sizes
The dirt trap is great but it is recommended by Amaxon alongside the yellow Meguiars bucket which suggests the two are compatible. The dirt trap has a greater diameter than the bottom of the tapered bucket so doesn't go all the way down and then is tricky to remove. Both items are fine individually, just don't buy them as a pair.

Essential kit for any car wash
Handy grit guard that fits meguiars' buckets. Can't say there is much to any grit guard - seemingly just stops you scooping dirt up from the bottom of the bucket. However this one seems a cut above the rest - I can see the cone-shape design preventing any dirt being kicked back up since there is very little opening available vs basic mesh designs.

Extremely good quality product!
By far the best grit guards I've ever used! One solid piece which allows dirt to go through but doesn't allow it back out. A must have item for automotive detailing

Simple Idea, Big Difference for Your Paint
The Chemical Guys Cyclone Dirt Trap is one of those simple tools that makes a noticeable difference every time you wash your vehicle. It fits securely in the bottom of the bucket and does exactly what it's designed to do—helps keep dirt and grit trapped below the wash mitt instead of being picked back up and rubbed across your paint. What I like most is the peace of mind it provides. Every time you rinse your wash mitt, you can actually see the dirt settling below the Dirt Trap instead of floating around in the water. It's a simple design, but it's an effective way to reduce the chance of introducing swirl marks and fine scratches during a wash. The plastic feels durable, fits snugly, and stays in place while agitating the wash mitt. It cleans easily after use and appears built to last through years of washes. If you've already invested time and money into keeping your vehicle looking its best, this is an inexpensive upgrade that's well worth adding to your wash bucket. Combined with the two-bucket wash method, it helps make every wash safer for your paint. Overall, it's a high-quality product that works exactly as advertised. Sometimes the simplest tools end up being the most valuable, and this is definitely one of them.

Sits low in a 5 gallon bucket, so if you're using distilled water you won't need as much.
After repeatedly having to buff out water spots on my car due to rapid evaporation after car washes on hot days, I now do rinseless car washes using distilled water. If you want a dirt trap/dirt guard/grit guard at the bottom of your bucket, you've got to get a fair amount of water above the guard. This Chemical Guys guard is low profile, so I use a little less water than I would with other guards. (Distilled water isn't free, but it also isn't expensive and I use about 2 to 3 gallons.) Harbor Frieght makes a good grit guard for less money and it works well, but it sits higher, so another gallon is needed. If you wash with tap water, that one works fine. The Chemical Guys and Harbor Freight models are both designed so that once dirt reaches the bottom of the bucket, it's less likely to get stirred up than when using the generic guard. In the picture, on the left side is the Chemical Guys guard (black), a Harbor Freight guard (orange), and another generic guard (also black) that's available at any auto parts store, along with a 3.5 gallon and 5 gallon bucket. The bottom circumference in both buckets is the same, and the Harbor Freight guard is a tight fit, the Chemical Guys is a perfect fit, and the generic black one is loose.

Best dirt filter for 5 Gal Bucket Wash
After reading the other reviews, consider the complaints of others. Filter doesn't fit normal 5 gal bucket. Try the 5 gal Home Depot transparent mixing bucket from the paint department for $6. The filter disk is not supposed to sit on the bottom unless you wish to limit the dirt to the bottom 2 inches of the bucket. It fits perfectly in the bucket I ref. I found a pro tip to use a zip tie to aid in removal. I used the 2 short center opposing holes, as it's easy to pull from there. When I used the dirt traps the first time, I was amazed that the water under the trap was noticeably black dirty in the transparent bucket. In addition, the wash water bucket grid was filthy underneath, I used a wheel brush with a tiny bit of soap to clean after use. As far as the whole size, mine were fine, not sure if some batches were different, but mine are consistent. Finally, I picked up "Fasmov 3 Pcs Plant Pallet Caddy" from Amazon to put the buckets on to roll around my washing area. They are made very sturdy, wheels are not perfect, but they are a fraction of the price for the bucket dollies.

Super Ergebnis!
