Dog hair disappearing trick
Eubank is a traditional piece of cleaning kit. This latest iteration is a superb machine and so easy (and cheap) to use. It will lift dog hairs from my carpets with ease so that when I go over then with a recently purchased Dyson V8, the latter's power goes into extracting dust and dirt. All in all a good combination. As for the Eubank itself it adds a little extra to a penioner's fitness regime.

Ewbank verses battery hand held and wired vac for small debris and spillages.
Ewbank - Model 830 Manual carpet sweeper.I had a carpet sweeper years ago before being dragged along the ‘suction’ route. Noise as I get older becomes more and more a issue, most of what I buy now is not electric or petrol. I did very nearly buy a small hand held re-chargeable vac to just pick up minor dust / bits that are just a pain to get the big vac out for, but after deliberating for over 6 months about the cost, the noise, the environmental issue (charging / disposing of batteries) I decided to go for a Ewbank. I had used my sister-in-laws a few weeks before when I was drilling some small holes in her walls and the re-chargeable battery in her vac and the spare were flat! I was surprised how well the Ewbank picked up even plaster dust - not perfect but pretty good. I have used my purchase a few times now and am glad I bought it. it does minor jobs very well indeed and is so much easier to get out than my wired vacs, which sometimes would put me off cleaning up minor spills and fluff. One comment on Amazon from a buyer said it was not good on tiled / lino / wooden floors although he did rate it on carpet, BUT in fact the instructions clearly state this is not intended for solid floors, and that the HI / LO settings are for close pile of heavy pile carpets and on those it works well. It is now a few months since my purchase and I use it more or less daily to keep on top of things, mainly a black carpet which is a through route from kitchen so gets a lot of use. I am still delighted with it, and being so light t is easy to get out and use. One thing you need to watch is emptying it, as it picks up more than you think which, if you ignore will start depositing things back on the floor. This is not a fault, quite the opposite as it shows just how efficient it is!It is now October 2019, 12 months since my purchase and I am still delighted with this, I use it daily and all I said in my reviews above still holds true, a great and handy product.September 2020 and the Ewbank is still serving me well, I have only used my vac in the room that I mostly use the Ewbank 5 times in a year, just to get into the edges where the carpet meets skirting board.I think it worth mentioning the reliabilty, since purchase nothing has broken or fallen off, and nothing is showing any sign of wear.

A very good back up
I like this used it for sometime when my hoover died. But sectional handle kept falling off or it would’ve got 5 *

How Did Carpet Sweeper s Go Off My Radar?
I don't know that carpet sweepers were still made! I had a cordless vacuum that was useless. Suction not good; battery not lasting long; takes around 4 hours to charge. I didn't want to throw good money away again. Looking on Amazon, carpet sweeper s are still made!I had a look at the different ones being sold and settled on this Ewbank model. I chose this because this is the only one that had a leaver on the top to empty the mechanism underneath the carpet sweeper, so your hands stay clean. Other good bits of design is that there is also a switch to go from thicker pile to shorter pile carpets. This carpet sweeper picks up well, better than my old cordless vacuum and uses no electricity or any batteries saving on our planets precious resources. I have a Jack Russell that leaves crumbs after eating his treats and he sheds his coat every now an then. This carpet sweeper is compact in size, lightweight and sweeps well. It does the job faster than the equivalent cordless vacuum. My only complaint about this model is that doesn't go to the edge of the skirting board to clean, but some other brands do. The other brands don't have the leaver on the top to empty the contents out the bottom, but the Ewbank does. For this reason, the Ewbank wins, along with ability to pick up crumbs, dust and pet hair.

An improvement but not as it could be.
I had a recent 'edition' of this old, old, branded but essential home cleaning product. It fell apart within a few months of use. So, I was worried when I bought this one that it would be no improvement and disappoint. But, I have to say it's a bit better. But, not as it should be. Could somebody please tell the company making these things that they need a seriously good designer to come in to upgrade everything: the durability, the practicality, the effectiveness, the usability. It could be so much better. And, thereby not be inevitable landfill in a few years time!

Effective carpet sweeper
Doesn't feel as sturdy as it should - the handle often goes a bit wonky, but as long as you empty it regularly it should last a decent interval. Certainly sweeps up all the crumbs easily enough.
