Puzzle had 2 pieces missing

I didn't have missing pieces in this puzzle but I'm a tad hesitant to get Buffalo Games puzzles because I was missing pieces one other time. When I contacted BG, they weren't at all understanding and insisted I was mistaken.

Where do I find the lot number of this puzzle to request a replacement puzzle as my puzzle is missing pieces from Buffalo Games?

This is what Buffalo has said to other people: Hello, the lot code is printed on the side of the box. Sometimes it can be hard to find, it can be rubbed off or printed lightly. If you are unable to find it, please just use today's date as a code in the format described and write in the comments that you were unable to locate the code. This code helps us track defects to a specific batch of puzzles so it is useful for us to track down any issues but not absolutely necessary to send you replacement. Thank you!

What is difficultly level

Buffalo Games selects a wide assortment of images from many different sources. Our images offer levels of “incremental wins,” for our puzzlers. In general, the larger the piece count, the more difficult the puzzle. Puzzlers looking for a more social or light experience, or if you are looking for puzzles for family time with children, you may consider the 100 thru 400-piece puzzles. Why is there only 999 pieces

It is actually very rare to find an exact count puzzle. Most of them are rounded off to the nearest popular piece count, like 300, 500, 750 1000 etc. There are a few puzzles that are giving exact counts on the back of the puzzle box, like 1020, 756. I forget the brand that is now doing that.
