InterluxYMA715/QT Flattening Agent for 1-Part Finishes - Quart

I make furniture for customers, and I use Waterlox for a tough, beautiful finish. It's really a great product.Customers seem to be split equally in wanting gloss, satin, or matte finishes. I was buying four different products from Waterlox to get the right sheen, three of them difficult to store and use, but with some experimentation, I found I can combine this Interlux flatting agent with the Waterlox Original Sealer/Finish to make Gloss, Satin, and Matte finishes.I used straight Waterlox OSF for Gloss. Mixing one part Interlux to four parts Waterlox OSF cuts the gloss to a "satin" level of sheen. Mixing two parts Interlux to four parts Waterlox OSF yields a matte finish. I detected no difference in the quality of the finish, just the sheen. Both products are thick and syrupy. They mix easily with a paint stick or a whisk (used gently). I don't cut them with mineral spirits.Waterlox OSF is a lot easier to use than the other Waterlox products. Now I can stock two easy-to-use products instead of four difficult to store & use products. Saves a little money too.

Both can came dented, while the box was undamaged. I suspect these products were damaged returns from another source. The product inside will probably be fine. We'll see....

We use a great deal of Minwax polyurethane, and find that the sheen of Minwax Helmsman satin polyurethane varies a great deal from one gallon to the next. We use this flattening agent to consistently give us the desired amount of sheen we need for our products. This is an excellent product, and a quart goes a very long way.

Pro: Constant results. Especially important when you touch up.Con: None

The can that I received must have been sitting for some time. The contents had settled and was barely able to mix it for use due to it being so thick.
