Coghlans Salt and Pepper Shaker

Great quality product, a little smaller than I expected but it works well.

This lives in my work bag. It is quite small and doesn't leek salt or pepper everywhere when being stored. Due to the way it is made where the shaker openings face in to the screw cap, there is a small cavity between the shaker and the screw cap which does fill up with salt and pepper. Then when you unscrew the shaker, you find a pile of salt and pepper inside the screw cap which can go everywhere or be wasted. Despite that issue, it is a good portable shaker at a good cost.

This is the perfect size for overnight camping or even a backpacking trip. It holds plenty and salt and pepper to supplement meals to taste, and if that is all you use it for it will last 1 person weeks. Obviously less the more people are using it. It will not last as long if you are also using it in cooking, but even so it should last a few days, and if you need larger supplies then there are bigger containers to use. More than likely you will arrive now and again at a café, and it is not difficult to get it refilled for a few pence. It is what it is – a perfectly sized backpacking container. It is light and compact and easy to use and easy to refill, however it is cheap and so is cheap quality. It’s good enough but I would have preferred to pay a little more and have it better made, but it is ok. Just don’t sit or stand on it, or be too strong with the threads. The design allows a little spillage from the sprinkle holes into the central housing. But this could be stopped by inserting a rubber cut out, maybe from a bicycle inner tube, etc.

Decent enough little shaker but it had a tendency to leak the contents when opening. If you do need to take s and p out to parks, venues etc, then it will work just fine. Just take care when opening!

Good little S & P for campervan.

I know you need small for backpacking and camping but this is ridiculous. The amounts of salt and pepper it holds are miniscule, maybe only one or two servings. The whole thing is barely 5cm long, including the cap/end sections, and only about 1cm diameter. Also the holes to shake out the grains are too small (I've had to crush up normal salt & pepper to dust with a pestle & mortar and still struggle to shake out any pepper). Not worth sending back - but would NOT recommend.

This is a very, very tiny cruet set. It probably holds enough salt and pepper for one person on a weekend camping trip, probably about half a teaspoon in each side. As you might expect for the price, this is not an amazing quality item either, but if size and weight are absolutely critical then it would no doubt suffice. The Light My Fire Salt & Pepper Plus for a couple of pounds more is a far better buy.

I ordered the Coghlans Salt and Pepper Shaker for my very small campervan and they are indeed small and compact but perfect size for the limited space I have. They do not hold much but enough to last me a week, maybe more without having to refill them so ample for my needs. These would be great option for campers who need to carry as little bulk as possible or for days out with the picnic hamper!
