Overall good quality, minor flaws with fabric, good price for linen
A couple years ago i switched to linen bedding, i was skeptical at first but i made the decision to spend the money on a set of linen sheets. Since that day i haven’t looked back and i only use linen bedding. I’ve tested multiple brands but was looking for a more affordable option so i decided to give this brand a try. Here is my initial reaction: Overall they seem like good quality, there was a couple minor flaws on one pillowcase where some threads had come loose, these were part of the duvet set and not part of the sheet set but this is the reason for 4 stars. This is depicted in the photos. I trimmed the threads back and will see if any issues arise but i think it will be ok. In terms of softness, out of the box they are soft but you will definitely want to wash them before putting on your bed. I noticed the lint trap was not as full as other brands i used before so these did not shed the fibers as much, i think this means they will hold up over time really well. These will get softer with each wash which will only make them better. If you’re new to linen, you have to be ok with them being a little wrinkled. I think this adds to the comfort, the fabric feels more natural and gives it a cozy look. Linen also feels different on the skin than traditional percale sheets. I like to tell people it’s soft like flannel but breathes very well. There’s a bit of texture to linen, it’s soft but i wouldn’t say it feels smooth like traditional sheets. I sleep naked and i like the way it feels on my skin. Whenever i get back home from a trip it’s always my favorite thing to climb into my linen bedding and i sleep so good! when you wash and dry them, it’s better to dry them on low heat and take them out before they are completely dry. Linen will air dry quickly and they will last much longer if you do this. I think these are good quality for a good price, especially if you’re looking for a starter set to try out linen, these would be good for you. Just make sure you give it a fair shot and understand it may take a little adjustment period. If you take care of them they should last a very long time and get better and better.

Great linen sheets at a very good price
These are very good quality sheets in very nice linen. They get softer and softer with washing without losing strength. There is no funny smell when you open the package, like with a lot of sheets. They are warm in winter and cool in summer because of the linen fabric. A great price for a really wonderful sheet set.

Update: 4 and 1/2 years later - bottom sheet in shreds - NOT summer weight
Update Nov 27, 2020: Lowering to 4 stars for (lack of) durability. Bought these in late April 2016 and have been using them every 4th week - or less - rotating with other pairs. Today I woke up to find the bottom sheet in shreds near where the shoulders or the lower legs/feet would be. The sheets have gotten very very soft, the part where it is torn/shredded is extremely soft. I still like S&O linen sheets a lot and have bought from this brand 3 different pairs (two 'natural' color with cutout embroidery - they have a totally different texture than these). I like S&O sheets for another reason too: they are cut less generous (narrower) than other brands, which for me is a good thing as I have a low bed and all other brand linen sheets reach the floor, but the S&O don't. ================================================ Original review from spring/summer 2016: Ordered them after a few reviewers characterized them as warmer weather sheets. 'Internal heat' had me looking into linen sheets. Bought these expecting lighter sheets. But they are NOT LIGHT WEIGHT. That said, they are wonderful! I never sleep on new sheets before washing them first. Broke my habit because I couldn't wait to sleep on these! And slept, I did. Very soundly, on my soft and crinkly sheets. And loved them! Then I washed them and loved them even more. Did they get softer? How much softer can they get? (everyone says they can get a lot softer). They are wonderful. And for the price, you get to enjoy some ultra luxury for a fraction of what would otherwise cost. That said, if you are looking for a light weight linen sheet, this is not it. These feel more like medium/light weight, somewhere between 5.3 and 6 oz. (150 to 170 gr.) Light weight sheets should be 4.2 oz per square meter or 119 gr. I felt that to-die-for linen with my hands when I recently visited Gray Line Linens in NYC the store dedicated to linen. I am now looking for 4.2 oz linen sheets for the summer. On the other end of the spectrum, there is the suggestion of Tricia Rose of Rough Linens who proposes a really heavy weight top sheet for the summer, a heavy weight linen sheet and nothing else. She is building on the European position of no top sheet, but only bottom and duvet cover. Nice suggestion, but I'd rather keep my top sheet. 2 Years later: I just bought a new pair of Simple&Opulence linen sheets in 'natural linen' color. They feel thicker and rougher than the first pair. The 'natural' color linen has not undergone any coloring process, which usually softens the fabric. Have that in mind when ordering. They are not soft yet (after first wash), but they feel very sturdy. I bought the 'hollowed out' design and they look gorgeous. I am in the process of 'aging/softening' them (helping to break down the flax fibers) using hard dryer balls in the fluff dryer cycle after the sheets air dry.

Fabulous linen sheets. This is my third set and I love them. So soft!

Be aware that linen sheets shed.
UPDATE: these shed a LOT of tiny fibers that collect along the baseboards... I do believe it is aggravating my asthma. Be aware! I've read it is not uncommon for linen sheets to shed, but I had no idea it would create so much fluff/breathing hazards. These are my first linen sheets, so I've nothing to compare them to: but I am very pleased with the quality and feel! I was concerned they would take time getting used to due to the texture, but I've had no issues. They feel cool and comfortable, and I feel better knowing I'm sleeping in bedding with natural fibers. I love the color I chose (embroidery purple). Would highly recommend, for linen at a more affordable price!

BUYER BEWARE: SHEETS THIN & TEAR IN LESS THAN 2 YEARS & NO CUSTOMER SERVICE
I hope this review will save others the headache and wasted money that I dealt with when looking to invest in 100% linen sheets. Like many others, I wanted a nice set of linen sheets since they are better for you health-wise for sleeping. I purchased these and liked them the first several months and purchased a few more sets and have spent a total of $570 between sheets for my house and gifting a set. As of 2 weeks ago I started getting holes in one of my fitted sheets which you could tell the sheet was thinning and practically disintegrating. I reached out to the customer service because I spent $150 just for this set alone requesting a replacement for ONLY the fitted sheet having the issues since this is unacceptable to sell sheets for this kind of price and fall apart in less than 2 years. They responded back from a Chinese email with "so sorry, we can offer a 30% coupon"! I responded and once again requested that all I wanted was the replacement of the fitted sheet which they sell individually and never heard back. I started reading the reviews and discovered the majority of all 1 star reviews are complaining of this very same issue I'm having which is clearly showing this is a defective product and an issue with quality. Furthermore the company does not respond to any of these reviews, nor when you do reach out they stand by their brand and try to resolve the issue. I can see why there's such an issue with people ordering the product a second time and returning the defective one in order to get them replaced; none of these companies will uphold any kind of warranty or stand by any quality and do what's right when there's an issue. This isn't the first time I tried the reasonable route of reaching out to a company with evidence and a fair request to replace a defective item to basically be told to "go pound sand." Reaching out to the company is a ton of extra time and effort many of us don't have and it's really more beneficial for the company when you go that route than to reorder and return or to leave a bad review without first reaching out to them but reaching out to them seems completely pointless nowadays. No one should be paying $150 for sheets that last less than 2 years. Period. For linen alternatives, I would recommend Quince and I would also recommend going to a local Costco, Sam's, TJMaxx, or Home Goods that will also carry 100% cotton sheets that are very affordable as cotton is a low-cost semi-equivalent to linen sheets.

Amazing sheets for the price
These are, without a doubt, the most comfortable sheets I've ever slept on. They are my first experience with linen sheets, so I really have nothing to compare them to. I looked at other linen sheets on line, there are plenty on Etsy, but I was concerned about the high price and not being able to return them. Through Amazon prime I was able to purchase a 4 piece king set of pure linen sheets for only $128.99, an amazing price, as most sets will cost you a minimum of $400 and up. The reason for the low cost is that they are made in China instead of Europe, Australia or the US. The manufacturer claims the fabric is from Belgium but they're sewn in China. They are really soft and will continue to soften as you wash and sleep on them, really breaking in after about 5 washes. With that said, what I don't like about these sheets is that the fitted sheet is constantly coming loose, not sure why, maybe it is the looseness of the linen fiber, which softens and relaxes as you sleep on it or just not enough material. I have a Prana sleep mattress, it's about 12-13 inches thick, so about standard. The pillow cases are also king size and too big for my standard size pillows, I fold them over so it's no big deal. The flat sheet is perfect, ample size. I purchased the embroidery linen, which is a light grey, lighter than I thought, but the color is growing on me. As far as wrinkling goes, they are linen and that's what linen does. Personally I prefer them ironed, for me, it smoothes out the texture of the fiber so they feel less "nubby" and softer. If you don't have the time or inclination to iron them, I recommend not overdrying them in the dryer and when they're done immediately make your bed, as they will continue to wrinkle otherwise. Linen is best line dried in the fresh air, but most of us don't have clothes lines anymore. After having slept on these sheets for a month, I can honestly say I will never go back to cotton again. If you are menopausal or run hot when you sleep, you will love these, they are so breathable and feel amazing, cool in the summer and warm when they need to be. I can't wait to go to bed at night and don't want to get up in the mornings, they are that wonderful. Depending on how long these last, I might splurge on my next set of sheets and buy them from Rough Linen. They are definitely more expensive, and the lack of a fitted sheet had me worried (they use flat sheets on both the bottom and top), but after the problems I've been having with the fitted sheet on these not being very fitted, I may give them a go. If this is your first experience with linen sheets, like mine, I would not hesitate to try them, I'm sorry it took me this long to discover them. Update: 6 years later and I still have the same sheets. Since I bought these sheets, I have also purchased several sets of Rough Linen sheets. The quality of Rough Linen has changed over the years and is not what it once was, personally I prefer a more crisp sheet than what they sell today. If you like soft sheets, they are comparable to the Simple Opulence, but these are a fraction of the price of Rough Linen or other brands. Made in California vs made in China, so you decide what you can afford and who you want to support. Happy to have found these sheets, they’re definitely long lasting and are perfect for my guest bedroom. Excellent value and long lasting.

I really like these sheets!
I am no expert on linen but I have purchased 2 other sets, one from Pottery Barn for twice the price and another set on Amazon from different seller. The Pottery Barn were the nicer of the two but ripped in less than a year. These Simple Opulence are the best quality of the three. The weight is nice and they were quite smooth out of the package for being new linen. The design is so pretty and after washing them I noticed that the edges didn’t curl up as much as the others I purchased after drying and I really like that. I did wash them in laundry soap and baking soda and also did a light iron but they would be fine without the ironing. Linen is supposed to be casual with a slight wrinkle but I suggest taking them out of the dryer slightly damp and that works the best for me. I also use large washer bags to wash them so they have less chance of getting tangled in the washer and causing ripping over time. Overall I am very happy with this purchase. Only time will tell if they hold up to repeated washings but the quality looks very good and I would definitely recommend them at this point. The last photo is after washing.
