Compares to $130 reels on the market
Purchased a 500 and 5000. Pros: Great quality for the price (feels like a $130 price range reel). Handle knob is the perfect sized. It has a nice drag clicker sound Drag is super smooth (from trout to halibut) Drag can be really dialed in with slight turn (takes many turn to max it out) The reel retrieve is really smooth (right there with any reel around $130) Easy to maintenance for oiling and cleaning Cons: I don’t think this reel is meant for ocean fishing (it’s not sealed. Product description says it is) Wish the spool was taller instead of super deep You will not be disappointed in your purchase. The 500 size is perfect for trout to small bass.

Absolutely, unequivocally the BEST spinning reel for the $$ period...
I'm very, very impressed with the Okuma 2500a HD reel. I'm in my mid 70's and I've been seriously fishing since I was about 8 or 10, so I've got a good bit of experience with fishing rods and reels. I know quality when I see it and hold it in my hand and this Okuma is a huge hit with me. On a table at my front door right now I've got 2 Chinese branded reels ready to be returned for various reasons. One has some built-in slack in the handle axis that is sloppy and will only get worse and the other is simply a poorly designed reel that lacks an anti-reverse switch, unbeknownst to me when I ordered it. Both of them have higher ball bearing counts than this new Okuma, but bearings aren't everything and they certainly do not tell the entire story. You can't really understand the differences in quality until you experience this Okuma for yourself. If I could give this reel more than 5 stars I would do so without hesitation.

Smooth as can be, just feels great in the hand
I bought two of the 1000 size after watching some YouTube videos, I paired them on bucca 6ft light spinning rods from Walmart sight after buying anther from academy, I love them fishing around the marina and dock, or boat fishing for bluegill with micro lures, I highly recommend both… little costly fir 1000 size , but not disappointed at all, great combo, I let a buddy fish one of them ,he was fishing the strike king bitsy minno, in green tomato color, crushed a two lb small mouth… I was shocked no trouble and he landed it,,,

Solid Value, Solid Performance
Lightweight, smooth operation, and smooth drag. I loaded it with 30 lb. braid with a 12-foot, 15 lb. flurocarbon leader on an 11-foot Okuma Rockaway SP rod for targeting striped bass in the surf and bay. I'd buy again.

Great surf fishing reel
Been using this in SoCal for surf fishing. Can’t beat the price I’ve got two. Rinse it off with freshwater after every use and they’ve been great. Really smooth reels as well
