Is there a pocket on the side for a water bottle? It's not very clear from the picture.

Yes, there is a pocket on the side that can hold a water bottle.

Does this backpack meet personal item bag requirements for United Airlines (17x10x9)?

I haven’t taken it on a United flight but I’ve used it on other airlines as a personal item just fine. It fits under the seat but does take up some leg room. I either put my feet on it or take it out after take off.

Will the large meet Frontier’s personal carry on requirements?

It did for me, however I did not have my bag packed to capacity.

Dice que el morral es para mujer, sirve para hombre o cual es la diferencia?

No hay diferencia alguna, de hecho lo compré para un hombre y está perfecto, es muy cómodo y bonito
