UPol 0741V ACID/AL UP Acid 8-S Etch Primer Grey, 450 ml

Love this stuff and use it for bare steel as it really bonds to the panel. Best to wear a mask though as it’s quite toxic so get a good filtered mask not a rubber gimp type with a tube.

when restoring a vintage truck i found that a previous owner had chome plated some parts which should have been painted. having previously used u-pol products i thought i would try this one. i rubbed down and cleaned the parts as best as possible then sprayed the etch primer. later i finished with the acrylic top coat. some time has passed and all seems ok. very happy and would suggest that if you have a "difficult " surface to paint try it.

Expensive, but I think worth it to ensure adhesion of spray paint, especially to aluminium.

I use to run my own body repair shop and used the Zink Primer when spot welding new panels on , then after Tickling the area with fine rubbing down paper I'd give it a coat of this Upol Acid 8 Etch, you can put a high build primer over it like on a wheel Arch etc to let flat down smooth etc, but in enclosed areas like the Front Pannel or Battery box etc, you can just paint straight over it, works well with most Airosol paint cans, ( except cheap ones with Paint added to Thinners? ) so get a good quality paint can or it could affect the primer . You can get Plastic cleaner and Adhesion Promotors for Plastics ? I've used them all and never had an issue, for large areas you can get a Trigger Handle to fit the top of paint cans instead of finger on the Nozzle, this gives better control like a Proper body shop paint spray gun. If your doing a Petrol flap or spoiler id recommend using the Cleaner and Adhesion Promoter. BEWARE THERE ARE LOTS OF SPRAY CAN PRIMMER PRODUCTS AND MULTI PURCHASE DEALS, but always check if they are ACID PRIMER.most of them are just High Build primer.for a thick undercoat to flat down smooth to hide any discrepancies, Upol have a Wide Range to Choose From for all sorts of needs.

Perfect for an aluminium threshold trim prior to painting with a top coat.

Used this for a few years...just a light coat of it then when dry cover with normal primer before preparing for topcoat. Won't flake. Saves the agro of mixing etch in a spraygun.
