Great book on Michael Jackson

This book is written very well, albeit a couple of things were repeated it nonetheless offers an insight into the creation of songs and albums that no other book has ever touched upon. Interviews with those who worked so closely with Michael Jackson are informative and having read many books on MJ I discovered so much that's new. This book has you hooked right from the very start as you follow the superstar's career from start right through to his tragic early death with no stone unturned. A must read for any MJ fan and for those who have an admiration for a man so complex through his genius and perfectionism. Not so many photos and with such a detailed book there doesn't need to be. Great front cover image and the book has a great feel to it, good choice of stock.

This book is brilliant. Its so insightful and very detailed. Finally a book talking about the magic that was Michael Jacksons music and not his personal life. I've waited so long for a book talking about ONLY his music and how everything was created. From Off The Wall right up until Invincible, work on every album is extremely detailed & also detailed on songs that never made it onto any albums. highly recommend this book to any and every Michael Jackson fan! RIP Michael Jackson!

as an mj and music fan really liked this book. deals mostly with music making without being too technical and has lots of facts u may not know. maybe with editing cud have been tightened up a bit but for non fiction no prob.

This is an amazing book for fans of Michael's MUSIC. Focusing on how the albums are made and all the technical aspects surrounding them. Incredible detail on sound design, how different versions of songs on the BAD album emerged etc. A couple of curious ommissions surrounding the Remixes and MJ's attitude towards them, but otherwise all the other allegations and gossip surrounding MJ takes a back seat and is only mentioned to establish his mindframe for when he made, say, the HIStory album. Amazing detail for anyone interested in the actual music.

Brilliant book. Im a huge fan but this book contained a lot of new material that even I didnt know as a 25+ year fan. Reading the details about the Thriller sessions - the mixing and mastering process especially - had my palms sweaty and my heart racing. I almost felt I was there! Beautifully written and an amazing read. Exactly what it says - a journey through MIchael's career. Fantastic and would recommend it to all.

Was hoping for a different kind of content. These were most recollections of Michael's life by others and I was hoping for more content from MJ himself.

I am a massive of Michael Jackson since I was 7, and I definitely recommend this book to any MJ fan. The book is so interesting, and focuses on music rather than scandals. I could read it over and over again and still discover new things. The author has done a huge work, you can tell, and I absolutely loved this book. Forever, Michael... <3

This is one of the few books I wholeheartedly recommend to genuine Michael Jackson fans—far from the sensationalized tabloid material out there. It offers a deep and respectful look into his work, artistry, and creative genius, reminding us why he's considered the greatest entertainer the world has ever seen. If you truly admire MJ for his legacy and talent, this book is a must-read.

Excellent book. Jackson was a perfectionist visionary who worked with some of the talented people in the music industry. He developed sophisticated music videos ans broke the color barrier on MTV. This book is about Jackson’s artistry - brilliant, driven, and ahead of his time.

I've read just about all of the biographies about MJ recently. This is one of the best, written with great care, love and respect for Michael. And it's well written in terms of structure, language, flow. He spends very little time on the allegations, out of court settlement and trial, focusing much more on how Michael composed and produced his music. Really well done and worth reading. Congratulations to the author.

As MJ fan I am happy 😊. But there's no real price mentioned on the book.

'Making Michael' is definitely the result of very hard work. 65 interviews were conducted to compose a great part of it. Unfortunately there were missing pieces that could help the reader have a clearer vision of what happened in some moments of Michael Jackson's unique career. One thing that seems almost impossible to do is to talk about Michael's accomplishments without focusing on aspects of his private life such as his plastic surgeries. That influenced his hard time at getting movie roles, and even criticism from music video directors. Mike Smallcombe did an amazing job at collecting insights from many musicians who worked with Michael. This book is definitely a must-read for fans and music lovers. Michael reached nearly-impossible heights with his career, becoming the most famous celebrity in the world at some point in his career. That had an enormous impact in his life, which is detailed in Smallcombe's book in several aspects.
