If you work in the fibre industry. This really is a great piece of kit as most standard red lights only go up to 7km. I’ve tried and tested this one to 26km, but not gone to the full 30 as advertised, although I’m certain it would go that far. Only negative is that it eats batteries, but I understand why as it’s so high powered, so little tip, make sure you get industrial strength AA’s to put in. I use this daily for a good few hours at a time and usually have to replace the batteries once a week.

Not quite as good as previously purchased item of the same description but still ok on shorter cables. If you do a lot of fault locating as I do these are a must.

Works great for checking fibre links and great value. Take care not to lose the LC adapter though.

The aluminium body seems solid enough. Not had chance to give it a proper test drive in the field, but checked it over on delivery all seems good.

Not sure whether I will use this very often, it's really very bright and you have to look at it (even indirectly) to see if the cable is working, it's a manual process. I think if I were purchasing again, I'd got for a more expensive unit that actually did the test for you without you having to look at the cable, it will be less error prone, better for your eyes and you'd have more confidence in the result.

This thing is super bright. I am a fibre engineer and this has come in so handy as the one I got given from my employer just isn’t bright enough sometimes. The only downside is that if you are splicing close enough to the source it can blind your fusion splicer unlike a weaker one that can be spliced with red light on.

Very powerful light. Not very robust casting.
