Well We Bought the Kettle and the Wife said We Need a Matching Toaster
Well we bought the kettle and the wife said we need a matching toaster -her wish was my command. The Dualit Architect 4 slice toaster is well made and looks great. Time will tell on its reliability but what we have seen and used it for to date we have been well pleased. Again as with the kettle not the cheapest to buy but you do get what you pay for and it is very solid.

Excellent Reliability
The most reliable toaster we have ever had - now 9 years old and no new elements needed even though used almost daily. Can do really thick bread and we bought the sandwich frames which are also good. The sensors are not effective for hot cross buns which you have to take out before they pop up or they will burn. Over the years currents from these buns can fall into the elements, become carbonised and trip the house RCD. Just turn it upside down every few weeks and shake out the bits. I noticed that one side of toast gets done before the other so I pop it up and turn it over.

Excellent Toaster
I was a bit sceptical about buying this, as it seemed like an awful lot of money for a toaster\. However, I decided to go for it, and I’m really pleased I did\.It works far better than I expected, with both sides of the toast browning evenly\. The lift\-up function is also excellent and makes checking or removing the toast really easy\.In hindsight, it’s definitely worth the money\. It feels very well built and is clearly a quality product\. Very pleased with the purchase\.

Cheaper alternative Dualit Toaster
Great toaster, can take wide/tall slices of bread. Well put together and is a lot cheaper than the classic Dualit toasters costing over £200.Mines came with chrome side panels matching the rest of the main body, there's a bit of grey plastic there aswell.Side panels can be bought in a variety of colours and easily swapped out to fit your colour scheme.Quite a large machine for only two slices but makes a style statement in your kitchen !Blue led whilst it's working, it has various other settings and things documented in the manual.I set it to three when it arrived and haven't looked back since.Always turn your toaster OFF - at the wall after using it.Works like a treat - looks rather cool and is a third of the price of a classic Dualit toaster. How much do you actually need to spend on a machine that just toasts two slices of bread and hopefully won't set your house on fire ?Well about £30 - £50 In my opinion, if you want something that's a bit better built, has more features and looks the part then have a look at this.

Stylish Efficient Toaster
This is a dual slot toaster, each slot is 35 mm wide and slightly more that 130 mm long, so will accommodate a wide variety of bread sizes. Toasting is started by pulling down the lever on the front of the toaster, the lever can be raised to check browning or released early by pressing the centre of the timing dial. My only critic of the toaster is that the timing is not specific check points but each time is in a range, so 2 is a wide band from 1 to 3, wifey and I thus can only say roughly where the dial is set, this is confusing, “Where have you set it dear” (we are polite at breakfast) “Oh, near the three”. “I’m not sure what you mean, have you set it at two or three?”. And so it continues da de dah.But is looks good and does a goodly nice toasting.

Compact, lightweight, quick & easy to use
Compact, lightweight, quick & easy to use. Crumb tray looks a bit small. Otherwise no problems.

Seriously unimpressed: good looks do not guarantee good quality
So i had a 4 slice dualit classic for over 25 yrs and it was brilliant, it took warburtons toastie bread no problem, toasted evenly, perfect every single time. It sadly gave up the ghost after a lot of extremely hard labourI ordered this one believing it to be of the same standard. No way, no and never. Not a chance In hell. The slots do not accommodate the longer type loaves, whichever way round you put the bread in. The slots need to be deeper otherwise you get a horrible band at the top of untoasted bread. It also toasts unevenly as well, So to try to accommodate this problem i flip the toast halfway through But this just seems to make the problem worse. I wish id have had the sense to fork out the extra and got another classic. I would expect problems to get problems like this on a cheaper toaster, i do not expect these issues when paying the price i did.SORT THIS OUT DUALIT!I expected better. Sadly the good looks of this product are no compensation for the issues it has.

Special toasting experience - and British made!
I was concerned by a few reviews that said the toaster broke or burned toast. We are only 1 week in -- so longevity still has to be tested! However, the toasting experience is wonderful. The toaster looks great -- very high quality and great design, with metal construction. The toasting levers feel very nice. It does pop up but also you can manually inspect it mid-toast. The actual toasting pattern is more like you get in hotels -- it seems "professional", rather than usual at home style toaster. I can imagine the burning is because this toaster is super powerful and a lot fo bread needs a low setting. We use a lot of gluten free bread, and it actually improves the flavor of this vs other toasters (which I am grateful for!) Most importantly, it is designed and made in Britain -- which we were prepared to pay for -- rather than the usual "made in China". I loved the video of the inventor and his family testing toasters - I was sold! And it is better than I expected (so far!)

Did not last long.
Lovely toaster but sadly stopped working 11months after I purchased it.

Didn’t work on arrival
Looks great but I plugged it in first time and turned it on and one side didn’t work so had to order a new one as I’d already bought the matching kettle
User
I’m very happy with my new Dualit toaster
It’s a great toaster
