Not the Best But worth the price
Very Happy with £179, because I went to B&O local store to have a try on E8 But was shocked by the price, £269!!! Anyway, I wouldn’t say sound quality is amazing but it’s not bad, better than Airpods, you can hear a few instruments played and human voices separately, it’s not for those who weigh heavy bass more than other things, it’s for people who listen to various types of songs, like me, so you can enjoy to taste details of different sound. I bought this mainly because this is PINK! It shines brightly both in the case and on my ear, Looks elegant and design is simple but exquisite, I really love the pink version and leather surface of the case feels really smooth. No delay! Touch controls take some time to get used to cause it’s quite sensitive, an very light touch would do, no need to tap with force. Connection is very easy and never a problem, I wore it for two hours today in total, none of dropouts found. Downloaded New B&O App, please follow exactly what the app tells you to do, don’t do anything steps ahead because I’ve tried and the result is the App can’t find my E8. I have no idea about why others’ problems they have encountered are severe enough to return it. But I highly recommend E8 for its beautiful design and color, premium sound quality and convenience to use.

For the price - a no brainer. Amazing.
EDIT: after 2 months the Bluetooth stopped working. Amazon referred me to B&O who replaced them with a brand new 3rd generation set but I’ve sold them and bought Apple AirPod Pros.I have now had:Sennheiser Momentum TWCambridge Audio MelomaniaThese B&O E8 version 1So even those these are only v1, I got them because of how cheap they are. These WERE £280, so they are a bargain now. Newer versions have wireless charging, a silver trim on the case, and longer battery life. Really worth the extra???Firstly - the case is stunning. Leather looks abs feels great. Inside a bit cheaper but on a par with the Sennheiser and Cambridge Audio plastics. The earphones themselves are similar in design to Sennheisers if it a little more stylish.Second - sound. In my opinion, the sound quality of these is vastly superior to the Sennheisers and noticeably better than the Cambridge Audio. But for £60 - they are incredible. There aren’t even any wires earphones to touch them at this price. And if the default B&O sound isn’t to your liking, the app acts as a DSP to tailor it to your taste.Third - battery life isn’t wonderful. Not as good as the Sennheiser and nowhere near the Cambridge Audio. However, the Sennheisers would discharge in the case so technically the B&O can last longer when not in use. Charging takes very little time.I’d recommend these in a heartbeat. Sound is amazing and they are silly cheap compared to their real world competition.

£20 (at best) headphones with a premium badge.
I'm actually fairly surprised B&O put their name to these. Functionally, sonically and ascetically they are not up to the B&O standard of past, more like B&Q.Audio quality is just about tolerable (compared to a cheap pair of wired headphones) if you tweak the sound preferences in the app. But top end is either dull or harsh, you have to choose what is less offensive to your ears. A good point is they don't have the overemphasised and floppy bass of some others, but that's mostly because they have almost no bass. Sound is every much emphasised in the mid range and that makes these sound a bit like a cheap kitchen radio. Even my first generation Echo Buds (which I hoped to replace with these) are easier to listen toFunctionally these are way behind even the cheapest bluetooth earphones. The case is just a battery, so you have to turn them on manually when removing them from the case, the left earphone is a secondary that connects via NFMI to the (main) right earphone that has the BT connection with your device. Problem is that even with the latest software update this regularly disconnects (mine rarely stays connected even for the duration of one song)....B&O's own support pages say this is just what NFMI does and is due to interference. To resolve you have to regularly take the left earphone out, pop it back in the case and then put it back in your ear (turn it off and on again basically). Not really appropriate for any of my use cases. I've yet to manage 10 minutes of continuous listening before this happens. The app is also poor, you get one "sound joystick" to try and tune the sound a bit and a control to set up passthrough mode, that's it. No control over things like sidetone in voice applications, no fit test like the Echo buds, most of the app is dedicated to advertising other B&O products.Pros: They do fairly well with vocals compared to my old earphones, the mid range is good, it's just a shame about the harsh top end and the almost absent bottom end. Touch controls work well once you remember them.Returned mine within 48 hours of trying them due to being completely unable to resolve the left side disconnection issue. The only advice I could find was to go through the re-pairing (which didn't help) and install the latest software (which they already had), or move away from any sources of interference (did everything I could short of turning off the devices I was using them with)

Pretty great
This is my second pair of “truly wireless” earbuds, having bought (and returned) a Bose pair. The E8s are pretty great. The sound quality is great (with the option of fiddling with the EQ in a general way through the app) and the buds are discrete. They are bigger than a wired pair (obviously) but I think they look neater than other “truly wireless” earbuds I’ve used and seen. The touch controls work great. I initially found I was accidentally hitting the controls at times, but have got used to that. The charging case is nice and small and battery life is good. I’ve not had any connectivity issues and have used them in the house, commuting, out walking etc. All in all they work exactly as they should.Minus points aren’t in my view major. I haven’t really used in ear buds before so it took a little while getting used to having them in my ear canal, but the comply foam tips that come with them are comfortable. There is a transparency mode on the earbuds that lets you hear your surroundings through the music if you tap the left earbud. This is a nice idea, but the ambient audio feeds in through the mics on the buds resulting in a weird cavernous sound. When you talk you hear your voice through the mics and it’s a bit weird. I found it too odd to use out in public if I had to talk to someone (e.g. dealing with someone in a shop, etc.).I suppose the main downside is the price, which is a little bit eye watering. Still, you get what you pay for.

Better than I expected, don't believe the reviews
I was abit sceptical when I ordered this product as it had poor reviews around bluetooth connectivity and poor bass. The initial set up was problematic and not straight forward as other reviews have stated, I work in IT and it took me about 30 minutes to get them set up after a few issues, mine were showing as paired but not connecting to resolve this issue (on Android device Samsung S10) I went into settings > Apps > click on the 3 dots in the right corner > Show System Apps > Scroll to Bluetooth > click storage then clear data and the cache. Once I done this and re-paired the devices it works perfectly, soon as I load Bluetooth up they auto connect seamlessly. Now on the standard settings the bass is somewhat underwhelming, however if you go into the Bang & Olufsen App under listening modes you can create a custom setting by moving the dot into the warm segment you can tailor the bass to your requirements, this transformed the sound quality for me.Another tip is to remove the rubber tips that come on the device and replace them with the foam ones in the box, these give you an experience like no other, with average volume and foam buds its a pure noise cancellation experience and the bass is much deeper.Well worth the money.

Great sound - but setup/connecting is bafflingly awkward
I bought these in May 2021 and a few other wireless earbuds at the same time specifically so I could compare them. They were for my wife and the choice was between the Lypertek Soundfree S20s, the Jabra Elite Active 65ts and these first generations Beoplay E8s. All at the time were £70/£80. TLDR summary at the bottom.I'll start with the positives; they sound great. Perhaps to be expected, but it was nice that they lived up to expectations in that regard. It's a very subjective term of course and you'll hear all sorts of terms such as bright, rich, energetic, "wide soundstage", "lots of clarity" and on the adjectives go. As simply as I can put it, no part of the song/track sounds like it's overpowering the others, and none sound lacking. Ever listen to a band on a pair of headphones where the 'high' (treble) bits sound crisp and clear but the bass is tepid and deeply unfulfilling? Ever listen to a hip hop track on another pair where the bass is nice and thick but everything else sounds like it's a bit underwater, or being dragged through syrup? Ever listen on another pair and the treble bits are so sharp and intense it almost hurts to listen to it? You don't get that in these. The bass is very present, but defined and controlled, voices sound clear and like they're almost in front of you for real (almost... of course), instruments sound distinct and like every part of the track has its own lane without veering dangerously close into another section like some wayward driver struggling to stay awake. You get a sense of space, you feel depth, you hear the lows, the mids, and the highs clearly, and none feels neutered, or artificially boosted to 12 out of 10 (overdone). They also look sophisticated, the real leather is a nice touch, the fabric carry loop attached is also fairly unique (I've never owned a pair of wireless earbuds that had a handle on the charging case itself - but it makes so much sense!) and they nicely click into the charging case via magnetism.Based on all of this these should surely get a 4 at least right?Connection was simply put a nightmare. I'm a man in my mid thirties, I've grown up with tech, I'm definitely no expert but I'm an enthusiast who regularly listens to tech stuff on YouTube, on a daily basis in fact, I studied computer science, I built and upgrade my PC, I used to subscribe to a couple tech magazines - when that was a thing. I'm not a novice basically. I'm not my Mum. A self proclaimed and proud technophile for whom any technology is a necessary after thought that she refuses to ever learn how to truly deal with because, why should she? She has me.But this was astoundingly awkward to setup. Firstly from what I can gather the app is absolutely mandatory for the initial setup. This was the first red flag to me. The other two, and the pair I personally own and use by the way; the Sony WF-XB700; didn't have this issue. They are Bluetooth earbuds. Like almost every other Bluetooth device I've ever used: you switch them on; they almost immediately enter "pairing mode", you then switch on the other device you want to connect/pair with, and within seconds you're in. Maybe there's a delay as the other device "scans", maybe you have to manually tell it to enter pairing mode, but that's usually the most of it. The whole thing usually takes 20 seconds at most and it usually works on the first try (in my experience).Setting up the Beoplay E8s was a lesson in frustration. Or patience, for the more philosophical of us. I'll admit straight away I didn't read the manual first, and I didn't watch the YouTube video Bang & Olufsen themselves made addressing this very issue first. I did those after. After struggling for about 15 minutes trying to figure it out. Do both of those things first, it will definitely help. However it's telling that you should even NEED to do those things first, isn't it? (That's rhetorical, I've decided it is ). The other two, The Lypertek and the Jabras; needed no such fuss. Neither required the app simply to pair and connect, neither took me a good 25 minutes just to eventually be able to listen to through my desired device. Neither needed a manual or an official youtube video from the manufacturers. They just worked. If you are methodical, painstakingly detailed, do your reading and your watching and then work step by step, without the slightest deviation, you will probably have an easier time setting this up.My concern is that all that is required at all when all other models I've personally used, their competitors - don't need any of that.Once more after that odyssey was completed I found connecting them to other devices - the Samsung smart TV we have and the 2019 car we own (that's not a brag, it's nothing fancy, but it IS quite recent, it's not an ancient artefact by Bluetooth standards) also an effort. Not as difficult as the phone, they don't require an app. But you have to be constantly selecting them. Constantly telling them - the other devices, where to look. With the Sonys/Jabras/Lyperteks, just having them switched on near the TV or car whilst said devices are looking for Bluetooth devices means they will connect to them automatically, almost instantly, or at the very least in the case of the Jabras and the TV, the TV always recognises them and always asks permission to connect to them. The Beoplays are forever playing hard to get. It's like you never truly earn their love or trust. Every single time I had to manually select them from the TV and the car, when the other models just connected automatically. On the one hand these are minor gripes, once you get it working at all that is. But living with them day to day should be as easy and as effortless as possible. I'm accustomed to earbuds just working. It's automatic, almost seamless, and pretty much effortless. And like a trophy wife/husband I've become accustomed to this lifestyle. I'm not going back (or sending my wife back).Lastly, on that note - this review is almost as long as setting up the Beoplays with my phone was - using the buds to do anything other than passively listen to whatever is playing was even further effort. There are not buttons, per se - minimalist and stylish definitely. But easy to use? Not for me. The Lyperteks have one button per ear you can physically press. The Jabras have two buttons per ear you can press (this is actually wonderful in day to day use). Both you can feel, tangibly, they are raised or they have intentional protrusions so you can feel what you're doing. The Beoplays have touch sensors. You won't feel anything, no protrusion, no physical presence, no haptic feedback or anything. You barely know you're pressing them. There is an audio feedback for certain actions which is akin to a shy insect whispering to you if you're awake at 2am in the morning. This was probably intentional - its minimalist, it's unobtrusive, but it does so to a fault. Sitting at home/in near silence this is just fine. On a commute? On a jog? Just out and about? In your own house while your family is around? You might struggle to hear. Simply pressing them and knowing how long or hard to press was my biggest issue. This makes using them for almost any functionality a bit difficult. Or simply, again, an effort. That sums these up, unfortunately. They are effort. Great sound, yes, nice looking and stylish, definitely. But setting them up was awful and I felt, needlessly difficult. The app is ok once you get it working but nothing special. It does stop responding every now and again, not loads, and why it's mandatory I don't know. The Jabra app I found far more reliable and had more features, and it was an optional extra, not forced on you for basic functionality of the ear buds. It's worth noting my reviewing these 3 ear buds was over 2 days - over weeks and months some of this would probably become second nature or I'd simply learn more and figure stuff out making the E8s far easier to use. But again my thing is, should it have to take that long? The other earbuds didn't need that.Setting them up with my phone was difficult and time consuming. Connecting to new devices is consistently a manual exercise. Using them for basic functionality such as pausing playback I found tricky. My wife uses wireless headphones for a variety of things. She's all over the house, she's taking calls, she's switching between the phone and the TV, and maybe the car. She's talking to her Mum whilst she's out shopping, she's pausing or skipping tracks on YouTube. She needs versatility, and she definitely wants minimal effort. The Beoplay E8s are unfortunately neither of those. Great sounding, but difficult, finnicky and constantly requiring some kind of effort. I couldn't' just get on with my day and barely think about them as I used and tested them. I frequently had to stop and figure something out. They rarely just *worked*; more so they made me work instead.I can't recommend these, perhaps the 2nd or 3rd generation E8s are better. The E8s were returned and my wife now enjoys her Jabras.Summary:+ The sound is great. No doubt about it. Certainly the best of the 3 earbuds I tested together in this price range.+ They look good; understated and stylish+ Genuinely useful carry handle for the case+ The case being real leather is a nice touch+ Magnetically held in the case (seems like a given these days but a few models are missing this)+ You can save multiple custom sound profiles in the app- An extremely awkward, finnicky setup- The app is mandatory for the initial setup- I found the app to be unreliable- Actually using the ear buds - to pause/play, adjust volume etc. is unintuitive and distracting- Connecting to other smart devices (TV & Car) was slow/awkward/required consistent manual intervention- No water resistance/water proofing- uses micro USB rather than type C- uses Bluetooth 4.2 rather Bluetooth 5(the last 2 are a product of its release date to be fair, but similarly priced competitors have USB C/BT 5 so it's worth mentioning)

The search ends here ... audio nirvana!
TL;DR - a stunning set of wireless headphones that have prompted me to write my first ever Amazon review. They deliver beautiful sound without sacrificing comfort. Brilliantly designed and with great app features to tailor sound to suit you and hold enough charge for the daily commute. They offer steady bluetooth connectivity but there are some issues in pairing.Apologies for the long ramble below but read on if you want more details than mentioned above.I've been on a bit of a journey this year in the search of a perfect set of wireless headphones to meet my exacting requirements. I'm not an audiophile but perhaps I have become a borderline one after putting so many headphones through their paces. I look for a clear natural sound signature with bass, mids and treble all present and correct and toe tapping dynamics. Most of all I want to get to a place where I can stop my search and just simply enjoy my music. I'm not asking for much! The key criteria for me being sound quality coupled with comfort swiftly followed by connection stability, build and ergonomics, voice calling capability, isolation, styling and lastly any additional bells and whistle features.During the year I've trialled a number of different products. All are premium products and generally highly regarded and well reviewed. Most have active noise cancelling features since I sadly have to suffer the ear-splitting screeches of the Jubilee line on a daily basis.Over ears: Sennheiser PXC 550, Bose QC 35 II, Bowers and Wilkins PXOn ears: Bowers and Wilkins P5, AKG NC60In ears: Sony WF-1000XAll have had to be returned due to varying issues. The on ear sets I struggled with the most due to excessive clamping force and as a spectacles wearer I struggled to get on with them for more than short listens. The on ears were problematic over extended periods of time with my ears cooking and jaw ache due to the design. The Sennheiser set was very finicky with connecting to my Bluetooth device. The Bose set was very good but I found the noise cancelling interfered very heavily with the audio and also made me feel quite nauseous when it kicked in fully on the London underground. The sound quality in all were pretty good and in the case of the B&W PX's the sound was simply faultless. These failed on comfort and connectivity aspects sadly. By the time I tried these I also had come to the conclusion that I just felt too self-conscious wearing over ears and hence turned my attention to the Sony in-ears which on paper were the perfect set for me.This turned out to be a false dawn. I could not grumble much about the sound quality or general comfort but boy the technical flaws on these were incredibly hard to accept. The inherent design flaw where one earpiece is the Bluetooth master that relays sound to the other slave earpiece caused me no end of irritation as sound flitted between them on a regular basis ... especially when leaving the depths of the underground and rising to the congested city. The number of sound drops as the Sony's struggled to maintain a steady connection while competing with the congested wireless networks out at street level was a joke. Furthermore, the supposed noise cancelling was non-existent in my experience. Perhaps I had a faulty set but regardless they had to go back. I was also not enamoured with the way they stuck out of my ears and the blinking blue light made me feel conspicuous on the packed tube trains. A nice try by Sony but I think that they have been rushed out to release too early without being properly quality tested. So enter stage left, the Bang and Olufsen E8's. They took me a while to get hold of due to stock issues but the wait was well worth it. I've used these daily for about three weeks now and I've broken down my findings to date categorised as Highs, Mids and Lows :)*** HIGHS ***Sound quality. There are no superlatives to express the audio quality that these tiny little things provide but I'll try! The clarity is crystal clear and the full audio spectrum is delivered beautifully - nothing seems to be over-bearing or harsh. During the first week I was not overly impressed as the bass was weak even though I could appreciate the mids and highs well enough. I then took time to try the various tips that came with the B&O’s and of these the largest silicone tips gave me the best bass response but something was still lacking. I then tried a larger set of tips I happened to have on another cheapo Bluetooth set of headphones I had with me and … BOOM! That simple change transformed the sound hugely! Listening to the opening seconds of Frank Ocean's ‘Lost’ is always my test for bass response and my word that change of tips really delivered what I wanted - a warm meaty bass that was tight and never over-bearing. I’ve since replaced these tips with some Comply isolation tips and they have just improved things no end. I’ve found the musicality of these so impressive with everything I’ve thrown at it. Playing ‘Left to my own devices’ by the Pet Shop Boys, the E8's effortlessly deal with the multiple layering and the vocals and synth lines never compete with each other. The sound separation is incredible and I can tune my attention into each layer individually if I choose to. Marvin Gaye’s smooth delivery on ‘Abraham, Martin and John’ just melts over me … wonderfully warm and rich and the acoustic instrumentation is precise and balanced. I quickly realised that if you use a good quality source and get the right tips to give you the best seal and you will hear things you never knew where there on the record.Beoplay TouchTone.I love the app interface that is used to manage the sound. It’s far more user-friendly than the bog standard graphic equaliser. My preferred setting is to have the spot just off-centre in the ‘Warm’ quadrant and I have widened the sound stage to about 50%. This just sounds perfect to my ears and I have saved this as my custom setting. I do use the preset for podcasts as it does work well to bring the ‘voice in the head’ effect but the other presets I don’t bother with.Build quality and styling.Totally top-notch. The design is thoughtful and they look like they will take some punishment. They are very tactile and the carrying/charging case is as mentioned by others here a thing of beauty that complements the buds perfectly. While wearing the E8’s they look super smart and not at all flashy - the aluminium ring is a small but important aesthetic touch. I’ve had many complementary comments on these and I certainly don’t feel at all self-conscious wearing them as they don’t stick out significantly or have any visible lights.Bluetooth performance while connected.I’ve had very very few drops of connection. There are issues with getting a connection (see below) but once connected they are incredibly solid. Even with the challenging city environment I have put these through, they just breeze through with barely a glitch. Furthermore, I’ve experienced zero lag when watching YouTube videos on the phone - the Sony’s suffered badly in this regard.Comfort and isolation.I truly sometimes forget I am wearing these. This has been even more the case since I switched to the Comply tips. I’ve said goodbye forever to hot ears and jaw-line ache and can enjoy listening for long periods. The isolating nature of the tips has already made the awful screeching on the tube trains more bearable - they don’t offer true noise cancelling but I’m happy with the level of dampening of external sounds I get with these. With regards to general fit, I’ve worn these in the gym a few times now and even while running on the treadmill I don’t have any fear of them falling out.Phone calls/mic.I’ve used these in the office and held conference calls for over an hour at a time. Not once have I felt the need to ask others on the call to repeat anything and nor have I felt that I’ve not been heard. From a work perspective these perform really well for my needs.Charge levels.Four hours on the E8’s and an additional two charges in the case are more than enough for my purposes.*** MIDS ***Ergonomics. In most cases I find the tap features to work reliably. Though I’m marking these down slightly here as when trying to adjust volume I often end up either engaging the transparency mode or pausing the music depending on which ear bud I’m tapping. The trick I’ve read on another review is to hold the buds in between thumb and forefinger and then tapping/holding the panel on the bud. This does work but it’s a bit not quite natural to do it this way. Perhaps physical buttons as per the Sony WF-1000X would have been a better option but I can see why from the design perspective they would have been perhaps more difficult to implement as the buds don’t protrude out from the ear enough to support buttons.App connectivity. The Beoplay app and buds can take a while to connect to each other on occasion - anything up to 30 seconds which feels like an age when waiting. I had a similar issue with the PX’s so perhaps this is just something I’ll have to get used to. An annoyance more than a deal breaker for me.*** LOWS ***Bluetooth pairing. Not quite perfect here. First up is that these buds do not automatically connect to the last device which surprises me at most other headphones I’ve tried do this without any trouble. More so, I’ve experienced a handful of cases where the buds just totally fail to connect to my Samsung S7 phone after I’ve taken them out of the case. I’ve ended up having to place them back in the case and go through a process of removing the device from the phone and re-pairing again from scratch. This is very annoying when you just want to pop the buds in and get going. This is something I’m going to keep a close eye on to see if the issue deteriorates. I’m hoping the tech wizards at B&O are busy preparing a firmware fix to resolve this.*** SUMMARY ***So, in summary these are a damn near perfect set of headphones that tick all the boxes for me. Yes, they are expensive but you honestly do get what you pay for in this case. The Bluetooth pairing glitch is the one thing letting me down but I am hoping it’s just a short-term issue.I would recommend these in a heartbeat to anyone who loves listening to music on the go and demands the best sound they can get without sacrificing comfort.

These are worth your money!
I’ll keep this short (ish). Over the years I’ve tried dozens of wireless headphones, from the cheap knockoffs all the way to Beats and above, yet none of them give you sound quality like these!Sure, you’d expect B&O to provide quality sound, that’s their thing, but I wasn’t expecting anything this good from something so small. Gestures are easy to learn, the design is beautiful and they fit better than any other in-ear headphones. The memory foam tips are incredible also and you don’t get that horrible friction putting them in like with normal silicon tips. They do stick out a little, but it’s worth it for the enjoyment of how simple they are to setup and use.One negative which seems to be an issue with all truly wireless headphones is that they just won’t sync the sound properly whilst watching stuff on YouTube. Never understood why YouTube seems be everyone’s downfall. If you have the cash spare, you won’t regret buying these. And like I said, use the memory foam buds as they’re just brilliant.

Good Buy
Great sound. Fits well. Perfect noise cancellation. This is my first pair of wireless bluetooth earbuds - took a week to get used to them. Had to update the software of the earbuds by visiting the local B&O store and then they were fine... Picked them up at a very competitive price during the Black Friday sale... Am Happy!
