Excellent Machine
I bought this to replace my 10 year old indesit washer dryer.Delivery was quick and efficient. I paid to have it unpacked and packaging taken away. It was then simple to connect to existing connections. It took a little while to get used to the controls and the double click when shutting the door. There is a good choice of programmes although some are absurdly lengthy. The "eco" wash and dry is 9 hours and 20 minutes! Some of the othe programmes can be reduced by pressing the rapid button which is an essential option on this machine. The wash is far superior to my old machine. Even on a short programme at low temperature the clothes come out spotless. The dryer is not as good as a dedicated, vented dryer as with most washer dryers but useful to have.It has a large drum which holds a good amount of washing and the large door makes it easy to load and unload. It's quiet when running and also looks very smart in black. The price was great value for money. All in all delighted with my new machine.

This is a washing machine with a drying function and not a tumble dryer function.
This is a washing machine with a drying function. The Drying function does not work the same way as a standalone tumble dryer. Drying times on this machine are also far longer than a standalone tumble dryer. The installation documentation and user guides leave a lot to be desired but with a bit of study you can work them out. It produces good results but the operation of it is at first a bit confusing.I have also bought myself a little fisherman's like weighing scale with a hook ( 0 to 10kg) to make sure I get the load weights right. It has the making of a good washing machine.Installation is not difficult but it is very heavy so really a job for two people. As part of the unpacking process you need to put the machine on its side to remove packaging from inside the machine. At this point it will be helpful later on if you loosen off the height adjustable legs and leave them finger tight. Before you can use this machine you must remove four transportation bolts at the back of the machine so you will need to have least an adjustable spanner. - Look at the installation instructions before starting any installation. My first wash (after the machine self wash - see instructions) was to use the Wash & Dry XL Bed and Bath function. Amazed at the time of 9 hours to do the full process but went to bed and let it run. In the morning looked at the results and they were very good. I have since tried other settings (those without the word "dry" in their titles) where you have to add the drying sequence, if you want it. This is done by by pressing the "Drying level" button and selecting the drying level or the drying time (multiple button presses) as you require before starting the wash. If you don't do this the machine will only do a wash and spin. When all the functions are done as one task , Wash, Spin then optional dry, everything works fine. Takes a long time but that's ok for me.My next test was to wash 3 pairs of jeans without setting the dry function and then do a "Dry Only" function on them. To do a dry only function the user guide says to first select a wash function on the dial that resembles the fabrics to be dried, select the dry function and set it to a drying level or a run time as before. Once you have done that then press the "Dry Only" button that will light up. If you now press "start" a drying cycle should start. At this point I expected the machine to in effect become a tumble dryer It doesn't. By pressing the "Dry Only" button, the machine does not do the wash and spin function for the programme selected but it does do a drying function which includes and additional spin process after which it starts the Tumbling drying process. For some reason at the start of this process if "Dry only" is selected the machine spends up to 20 minutes not really doing anything but making a gulping noise. I think it is part of the drying process as the gulp is a little water being put into the pipes. After this time the machine will start with the spin process. Unlike for the wash enabled process this spin cannot be switched off or the speed changed by pressing the spin button. After it has finished the spins the machine does the tumbling drying process as programmed. The final result is good.It takes a little time to get used to but do experiment and find what is best for you.

Easy to operate, economical and quiet
The last Hotpoint I had was 12 years ago and I remember it lasted 8 years before I felt it was getting a bit tired and not so reliable, so I scrapped it. Well in all that time Hotpoint has really improved their models and this is something else. It is very responsive and the display is nice clear and bright, the controls are simple and it is so quiet. Loads of settings but the eco one with drying is already our favourite. Very pleased and I am sure it will last years. We also paid for unpacking and installation and to be fair, this was never going to be easy as it sits next to another machine makings things a bit awkward. Hence I paid someone else to do it. They did a great job. Moaned a bit, but did it. I would have been worse! All in all, a great experience.

Complete rubbish !
The machine kept restating programs and at the end of cycles and then constantly say "1" for the timer It would have kept going for ever until, we had to stop the machine and drained it separately, we thought this must be a faulty one so go it replaced and the second new one did exactly the same thing.I called Hotpoint support several times and they where worse than useless, kept pushing the blame back to us ("user error") and not understanding what the problem wasWhat a stupid door locking design, it keeps locking and unlocking before starting and is extremely noisy. The manual/user manual is RUBBISH.Badly though out program cycles and far to confusing !

Quiet
So far so good 👍 I paid for the installation,so that was all taken care of. First time using it & was delighted to have a 30min cycle. The cycle hasn't ended yet, but the machine is quiet and I'm pleased with the size & it's appearance.

Frustrating
Washes well and quietly but very difficult to program or rather to understand how to connect the drier bit to the wash bit.

A good buy
Item turned up as planned. Good tracking. The instructions are a bit sparse but it is quite intuitive to use.

Looks good and is quiet.
The instructions are very confusing but it is not as difficult to operate the washing machine as it first appeared. Just search Hotpoint NDB 9635 W UK on YouTube.
