Pilot Birdie Twin H575 (Ballpen & Pencil In One)

Lovely pen, at an amazing price! The Birdie Twin is slim and compact, but writes easily and well. There is a slim, well fitting cap over the pen end, and the pencil at the other end (the cap fits over the pencil too). Lovely.

I have had one of these Birdie Duo writing tools in my shirt picket for over a year now and use it daily.Electronic 'aids' are all very well but they can't match the speed and versatility of a pen or pencil when it comes to quickly noting a phone number, graphically explaining a concept (often on a napkin), or adding appointments to a pocket diary.Typical of a Japanese product, this writing tool is beautifully made in stainless steel and although the barrel feels strangely slim, you soon get used to it. This pen is not designed to substitute for a normal pen because it would prove quite expensive in refills to write War and Peace. It is designed for short note-keeping. The pencil arrives with a single lead but you can store additional standard length 0.5mm leads inside the barrel as per usual practice. To access this storage space, the ballpoint pen - retained by friction alone - is extracted using a thumbnail.I have deducted one star for two irksome traits:1 - There is no mini eraser as beneath the caps of dedicated retractable pencils (because this space is taken by the pen)2 - The pen refills are quite expensive for their size though I have fitted only one in a year of daily use

Top notch. Build quality of the product is phonomenol. The style and finish of this unique pencil/pen is a hell of alot better than I expected. Just feels so great in the hand. BUY IT!

Slimline diary pencils are not easy to find and when I received this one I was delighted. Initially I thought it was brilliant...good looking, fitted diary beautifully BUT no indication regarding refillsAnd not easily fathomed!! In fact I haven't! Also both end stops have been lost...did not fit securely.I so wanted this to be great..but sorry it is a great disappointment.

a perfect size for a small filofax or wallet and both pen & pencil bits work nicely.

When I received my pencil the mechanical lead part didn't work. The lead would simply not push through, and the tip was crooked. I thought of returning it for a while, but I tried to fix it before. This worked for me: If you open the lead portion (unscrew the tip), push like you would do to have the lead move forward, and uncover the tip of the metal piece, you should be able to see the three parts of the internal cylinder of the mechanical pencil. Gently force the parts to open, to separate from one another. screw everything back in place, and now is seems to work for me. Hope that will also help some of you!Very fast shipping though!
