A Fantastic Video Grabber at a Very Reasonable Price.
I had no choice other than to get a new PC after my old one with windows XP had finally got beyond repair. Up to then I had always uploaded films from my Sony camcorder OK. A year later when I went to upload films on the new Dell C/W windows 10 after down loading the Sony programme the Dell and windows 10 would not recognise my Sony camcorder.I put my problem on Google and found many people experiencing the same problem as a result of windows 10 upgrade. The answer was to get a video grabber with windows 10 compatibility. I found this particular one on Amazon and thought I would take a chance it worked, the alternative being to get shot of a perfectly good camcorder. Well I am very pleased to say it worked perfectly OK and I have a system that is so much easier to use than the photo programme I had with the old PC. The software that came with the video grabber down loaded perfectly and recognised my mini DV input straight away when I connected my camcorder as per the instructions enclosed. All in all I would not hesitate in recommending this video grabber to anyone wishing to upload films from various camcorders etc.

Really great value for money this
I had some old mini DV tapes. I still own the camcorder I used (a song handycam). I still own the original leads (which connects to the camcorder and has composite red/white/yellow leads out).So far so good. The problem of course is that times they have a changed. Meaning we are now in a cloud based internet age where video clips are readily shared.I Therefore needed something to allow me to capture the video and audio and transfer it to my computer. There are plenty of solutions out there but I didnβt want to spend a more than Β£15.And thatβs when I came across this little beauty. It is a simple piece of hardware with accompanying software. Itβs really straightforward to set up and record away.I was up and running within 10 minutes. All output is in .mpg format and the software is also a good way to trim, edit, transition and storyboard multiple clips together (so an added bonus).Highly recommend this for anyone wanting to transfer video via a composite cable.

Not sure about quality, I got a faulty unit. Great Customer Care
(EDITED READ SECOND PARAGRAPH)I had to record multiple times because the quality was awful and made buzzing noises on audio. I know the product is cheap but it was so bad, it was like a recording of the recording.. meaning the quality was that bad. Will be contact customer service.Edit: Seller saw my review and offered excellent customer service, offered a refund or new product, I went with refund because I didn't want to do the tape transfer for a while, got too busy.

Worked First Time (ish) on Windows 10
Being an embittered technophobe, to my immense surprise, this item worked immediately by following the simple instruction book. I only received it a few hours ago but I have successfully downloaded an 8mm tape from a camcorder to a Windows 10 PC, converted it (using the included software package) from MPEG2 to MP4 and uploaded to YouTube. The YouTube upload option did not work but I worked around it by using the burn to disc option (and not actually burning the disc but just creating the file). (Converting to MP4 using Windows software produced a poor quality file but the product software did a pretty good job.)I am writing this at an early stage, but as far as I can tell, this product will convert an analogue 8mm tape with very little loss of quality. More sophisticated users may have a different view, but I am writing this with people like me in mind who dread spending hours getting 'simple, easy-to-use' products to work!

Excellent results....
This product worked fine for me. I'm especially pleased with the software which I found very easy to use and creates movies of really good quality.I was worried that my USB's are V3.0 but the grabber is called USB V2.0 but there was no problem. Everything worked perfectly first time.In my case I wanted to convert VHS cassettes, which were up to 30 years old, by playing them in a VCR machine of the same vintage. To do this I also needed (1)SCART ADAPTOR with three sockets (that's for the Red, Yellow and White plugs in the pics) and (2) AUDIO/VIDEO CABLE male to male to complete the connections. If you are using vintage equipment like mine you will most likely need to these as well but they are cheap and easy to get. Google them to see pics and the above will make sense. If you are replacing a pre USB video grabber you probably have them already - I found mine in the Lidl box (Silver Crest) from years ago and just plugged them in and away we went!

Worked well for a while!
I was surprised how well this worked straight out of the box. The problems began after about 20 mins on the first run where the video paused on the PC but the sound continued to be captured. So for 1 hour of video I had to create 5 different videos and then stitch them together! The unit did get a little warm so i'm not sure if it was due to heating up! This meant I had to keep watching everything that was being captured and wasn't able to walk away leaving it running. It's a shame as this could be a great product if it didn't have this issue.

Lower than VHS quality
A lot of the reviews say that they have copied VHS tapes to their PC. What they don't tell you is that the picture quality is really poor. It's much like a VHS copy of a VHS tape. You can tell what's going on but it's no fun to watch. Certainly the quality is a lot lower than any VHS recording from TV or camera that I ever made. On a par with VHS copies of VHS recording using cheap tape in both machines.I've copied a lot of VHS to PC and this device is poor quality indeed.

Works fine for me
I bought this to capture images from my garden camera. Driver installed on my fully updated Windows 10. Device manager showed an error, but when I got Windows to look for an updated driver, it installed one and everything works ok now. Seems that the drivers supplied are old. Updating probably will eliminate some of the problems mentioned in the poor reviews. The imaging software isn't up to much and I find Yawcam or Securecam2, (Freeware), better for my particular use. Haven't been able to get the sound to work, but I have never yet found that possible on this type of device and for my usage it is not important.
