Get the best out from your subscribed music streaming services
Hi, my name @ Head-Fi is duyu. I believe I'm among the very few who bought FiiO Q7 immediately when it is available on Amazon and thus is responsible to say something about it. I'm definitely not an expert in this regard, but I hope this still gives you some useful information. Let me explain why I buy a DAC instead of a DAP. I've been using the FiiO X7, an android-based DAP, for years since it was first available which provides stunning sound quality. But it's limitation is very obvious- its android becomes obsolete very soon and is then incompatible with apps' updates. We all know how good the sound quality the streaming service can now provide. For example, Tidal's master version music provides better sound quality than the CDs. But to get the best out from these streaming apps, we must always keep the OS up to date. This is quite impossible unless we spend a lot to buy a DAP that is equipped with a powerful chip not for decoding but for running the OS. This, however, means that a significant part of what you spend is for the OS but not the sound. To me the best option is to buy a DAC and use our mobile phone as the source. I'm happy that FiiO once again responds to our requests and give us this option of Q7, even if it may compete with her own M17. I truly respect James and his FiiO team for this seemingly unwise market decision. Here is some advice on the setup for streaming for those who are planning to do something similar. 1. It is pretty easy if you use the MacBook as the source. Simply select the highest bitrate output via the Audio MIDI setup, and everything is ready. I can confirm that Apple Music and Tidal run perfectly with Q7. 2. But it is tricky if you are an Apple Music subscriber and use an iPhone or iPad as the source. I can only tell that Apple Music doesn't work well for its current version, because it won't send the master version to the DAC as it does on the Mac. Only copies with lower quality will be sent to the DAC. The problem comes from the APP side, not the Q7. Q7 is bit-perfect. On the other hand, Tidal works perfectly on the iPhone and iPad. Q7 receives and decode the MQA files without any problem. By the way, I'm very happy that Q7 supports MQA decoding, as the sound quality of the master versions is significant better than the HiFi version. So if you're an Apple Music subscriber, you may need to wait for an update from Apple, or to use the MacBook as the source. But I would simply suggest one to use Tidal instead. Its sound quality is amazing. I think the Q7 gives you the best bang for your buck. It can be used for many years regardless of the frequent software updates. You will be amazed how good the sound quality is in those master copies of the songs you're pretty familiar with. Have fun.

Had high hopes
This product is decent, still had to use reset but right away. Would be a nice product minus the hardware flaws. Honestly the seller has some nerve to send me this product missing parts. Look like it should be in a flea market sale for 50% OFF.

It won’t turn on
It came untested and defective. I bought one as a gift before. I liked how it sounded at my buddy’s house. Now mine was a dud. Sending back.

Fabulous sound
Amazing specs and well put together. Transportable, but not very portable. Serves my needs well. Sound is perfect. A perfect ultragain unit with plenty of class A power.

Awesome sound!!!
WOW!!! Every IEM or headphone I used sounded many orders of magnitudes better. It was well worth the jump from my Fiio KA5. So glad I purchased this as now everything sounds better in every way!! Well worth the price!

No es bluetooth server.
El LDAC solo funciona como cliente. Si entra una señal por usb o coaxial no la puedes oír con unos auriculares bluetooth LDAC o Aptx adaptative.

Great product
I read in other reviews of hardware failings or 2 star given due to the fact that it's not a server (well... it's gross to buy something with this tag price without even read the description of what you are buying), anyway, I'm really happy with it. I think it brought my listening experience to another level. There are a great numbers of reviews if you want to check the technicality, but in my opinion this is great!

Sonido inclreible!

Very good indeed.
Am using with an M11S, Edition XS and dedicated PL50 power supply. This DAC/Amp has enough grunt to drive many awkward cans on it's very generous battery pack. On DC power it really is a powerhouse. Very articulate with consumate control. I wouldn't describe it as particularly portable. It's not the sort of thing you want in your pocket. It's simple to set-up and use. It is nicely made and finished, and the supplied stand c/w cooling fan is of similar high quality. The app allows you to switch off the disco lighting, along with many other features and options. Bought used as new from a seller at almost half retail and it arrived as new. If received as a gift I would never be able to differentiate it from a new unit. Very pleased indeed.
