Quality and simple to install (update on June 27, 2016)
Just bought my second unit. Have had the first one for over a year and the only problem was caused by the fact that I had only replaced one unit in the house and, in the dead of the night, the cheap old husband (me) would use the head that he had not put the Slow Close on and, when done, give a push to the old "non slow closing" top. The resulting loud "slamming" noise would result in a startled dog and wife, in that order. I was not a popular fellow. One reviewer wrote that his unit did not arrive with "bolts", they should... so make a call if they are missing. Both of my units included the newer "quick" release (for cleaning and replacement) bolts. If your old unit had the old style wing nut design you will be impressed with this (fairly new to me) system. I won Brownie points with my dear wife for my Herculean effort replacing the old seat. The old "non-auto-close" unit had the newer quick release system in place, took me about 30 seconds to twist the attachments and wiggle the old seat off. Took my sweet time cleaning off the area, putting on the new seat and stalling before I returned, flexing my (lack of) muscles, to the amazed look on her face that I did it so quickly (and well). So: Very good quality, working well after a year, easy to clean, very quiet operation and all parts are included that are required for installation. June 27 2015 Update: Revisited this as I just purchased seat #3, replaced one of my (not game of...) 'Thrones' with an elongated model and could not use the old seat due to size (was a round unit), the old seat was still working great. Was my normal wary self and read all the current reviews and thought I might add some photos to help folks make a decision. Seat came with attaching bolts that require secure tightening as they have little 'fingers' that need to compress into the mounting holes. This may solve any wiggling issues that have been reported, do not know for sure as I have not had the issue, but I did have to use a Phillips screwdriver on top while holding the bottom half-wing nut to get them nice and tight. Tried to show them in one of the pictures, they are situated bellow the 'head' of the screw/bolt.One photo shows both bolts mounted tightly down. Regarding cleaning surface concerns. Very likely others (my dear wife is a good example) have different levels of what that means to them than I do (afraid I am still a bit of a slob...), I use what was called Dow Bathroom Cleaner (think its called scrubbing bubbles now, or some such) and manage to pass inspections with no issues. Some of the photos show the underside of the seat and top to help you make a decision that meets your standards. There is also an attached 'action' movie that shows the slow drop in action (Spielberg better watch out). Best, Joe

MUCH Better than the Old Seat & Lid
Fit my OLD (at least 16 years old) American Standard toilet perfectly. Removing the old seat was much more difficult to accomplish than putting the new one on. Again, it was a PERFECT fit and I just made rough measurements with a tape measure. I really like the slow motion self closing feature of the seat and lid. You just give it a tap and it's starts closing. Then, when it's about 4" above the toilet, it slows down a LOT and does not make ANY SOUND AT ALL when it fully closes down onto the toilet. All that takes about 20 seconds for it to close completely. Pretty slick. No idea if that will speed up over time or after it's been 'broken it' (assuming a toilet seat actually DOES break in), but for the time being, it's a nice feature. This new seat is also a MUCH more comfortable seat than the original hard wood seat that made a LOUD knocking sound if you let go of it too soon when putting the seat and/or lid down. I really hated that seat! I can HIGHLY recommend this new seat and lid without hesitation and I would buy it again in a heartbeat. By the way, I installed this on an American Standard TALL (old fart) toilet, which is much easier on your knees and back!

Fit For the Queen's Privey - and Amazon Customers.....
This is a solid easy to install seat - in fact so easy to install even a husband could install.......one thing, the bolts and there are two of them --- go directly into the commode, not through the seat.......you then open the two caps on the seat which come completely off.....place the seat on the bolts already installed and put the caps on - you can figure it out from there...and there is no slipping and sliding on this seat it is solid and well worth the money......you need to just gently give the lid a push and it quietly closes itself......it looks nice ---- if all else fails read he instructions - I looked at them and discovered it was easier to not read the thing--- for I do not know a bolt from a nut......as said this was so easy for me to install ---and it is sold......fit for the Queen in fact like the Queen's authorized plumbing fixture dealer in the UK --- which amazed me THOMAS CRAPPER,Ltd - above the hallowed halls of his entrance, is THE QUEEN'S CREST SHOWING --- his seats are all endorsed by --- who else, Her and His Royal Heinies...and course, Her Majesty who signs the decrees and affixes the Royal Seal unto sams - however I endorse this one as --- one who claims descent from the 6001 of Victoria, to be of the same high quality and etc etc etc.... I rest my case - C Jones

Works as advertised, installation pretty simple.
Pretty good for the money - it's half the price of a similar one I purchased with a new toilet (from the plumber) for a different bathroom. I struggled a tiny bit with how to attach it and actually had to read the directions - after that, it was a snap. (Pun intended!) Installation hint is to ensure you really get the two flanges or flaps (I'm sure there's a specific technical term for them but I don't know what it is) pressed firmly down against the toilet surface or they can pop up when you open or close the lid. Also, that was the cause of the skewing to one side that I saw when I first installed it. I pulled it back off and reattached it more firmly and it no longer slides to the side. Closes very slowly and does not slam, exactly as advertised. It fits an older American Standard toilet I have (don't know the model, but it's not that old since it's a low-flow unit). Yes, the seat is plastic, but I don't feel like it's going to break when I sit on it! The lid is very thin/light plastic. But all of the slow-close ones I've seen are plastic and this one is comparable to the other two I have - both different manufacturers. I imagine making such a very slow-close lid out of a heavier material would be more of a challenge - laws of physics being what they are. In any case, I'm perfectly satisfied with it. I only avoid giving it five stars because I just can't bring myself to say I love a toilet seat.

This one is the better one.
Bought this last year - had forgotten I bought it at Amazon. Anyway, we replaced another toilet recently and bought a similar Amer Standard slow close at HomeDepot, but it wasn't the very same model (sorry, can't remember what it is) but it is flimsy - like a cheap imitation of this model. This one is definitely the better seat. I'm going to buy this one again to replace the other. This one closes more smoothly and the seat is more comfy. As for size, yes - we're a family of 8 and are of various sizes. This seat accommodates every "body" just fine - from very big to very little. As a side note: It's amazing how fast you get used to quiet, slow closing seats. They are especially appreciated in the middle of the night when you have kids who try to flush, turn off the light and race back into bed before the midnight toilet monster can get them.

Questionable quality & rude customer serivce
I don't write reviews that often but this one deserves it for the overall experience. I am hoping this will help you with your decision and what to look for with this toilet and customer service. I purchased 3 of the dual flush toilets "American Standard 2889.216.020 H2Option Siphonic Dual Flush Round Front Two-Piece Toilet, White" about a month ago to replace my old ones and to save on water. I also bought 3 of these toilet seats "American Standard 5330.010.020 Champion Slow Close Round Front Toilet Seat with Cover, White" for the above toilets. I didn't want to buy a different brand as I thought it makes sense to stick to the same brand for the entire toilet. I am splitting my review into two parts: one for the toilet seat and the other for the toilet itself. Toilet seat: 1 star (quality/manufacturing issue, poor/rude customer service) -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Good: Toilet seats: The toilet seats fit well. Slow close works well. Bad: While installing the seat both my plumber and I noticed that all 3 of the seats have a fine joint at the 7 'o clock position. This joint runs on top and bottom. It looks like this is where the toilet seat was "stuck together". None of the previous toilet seats (even cheaper ones) had this visible joint. You may not notice it unless you look at an angle and closely. I am now unsure if the seat will crack at this joint. It most likely looks like a manufacturing defect. It looks like a quality issue to me. I called Amazon customer service. They were awesome and sent me replacement seats; I was ready to remove the old ones and ship them back as part of the replacement. Before that I looked at the new seats carefully and guess what, I see the exact same joint/crack on all of them!? To me this kind of quality is not acceptable for a $38 toilet seat. Will this break in the future at this joint/crack? Ugly: I was thinking if I should return all of these seats and get a different brand seat. However I thought I should call and check with American Standard customer service in case they are aware of this issue on some lots. I took photos (I have attached them here, you can see for yourself) and was hoping to email it to them. I thought they will be happy to look at them for their own internal quality checks. I called them today and wow, I was literally blown away - I have never encountered such RUDE customer service. I explained to the agent about this joint. Without even listening to me fully, he says, you must have broken the seats so it is your problem. Uh??? I have no idea what it is, he just started off very rude. I told him that I got replacement seats and I see the same issue there, I even took photos and can email it to them in case they want to look at it. In the same rude tone, he tells me there is no need for the photos and if I see it in the new seats then that's how they are made. He again started accusing me that I must have broken them. Toilet tank & bowl: 1 star (incomplete/poor instructions, poor/rude customer service) -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Good: Toilet works as expected; Small flush and Large flush do a good job most of the times. Definitely quieter flush than my previous ones. Bad: Large flush sometimes leaves a little debris in the bowl. Once in a while needs to be followed by a small flush. This is despite all those nice videos on the product page that show the emptying power of the toilet. Installation: Quality control is not there. Some of the parts were missing. (bolts, caps) were missing in one of the bowls and tank. The fill valve & flush valve & another "float valve" are supposed to be pre-assembled in the tank. I am calling it a float valve as I have no idea what it is really called. It is supposed to be pre-attached. But it was left separately/loose in two of the tank boxes. There are no instructions on how to attach it. More over there are some numbers/adjustment settings on it and again there is no explanation whatsoever on what they mean. (I have attached two photos of this valve). There is one diagram in the installation booklet (step 10) but you can't tell much from it. I looked at one of the tanks and figured out how to attach this "float valve". It was fitted on top of the overflow drain pipe. However I was not sure about the adjustments to be made (blue settings in the photo). Ugly: I told customer service that this part was loose and how do I adjust it now that I know where to attach it. First customer service lady (technical support) rudely told me to get a plumber and they will adjust it and hung up; she was in a hurry and didn't even bother to offer any other advice. I called back and talked to the second customer service rep (same one who talked to me about the seat above). His response was that it is set at factory and I shouldn't mess with it. I told him that since this part is loose inside the box how do I even know if it adjusted. I also wanted to know if it is set properly to reduce water level. He didn't really care and told me there are no instructions on it and should be fine the way it is. I was being patient the whole time and didn't yell at him as I know they are doing their job and maybe having a bad day. I did question him about their customer friendliness. No answer. I asked to talk to his supervisor and surprisingly, the supervisor is not available. Overall I am extremely disappointed with the seat. I am ok with the toilet performance but disappointed with lack of proper instructions. I am shocked by the customer service attitude and professionalism. American Standard: If you are listening - there is something seriously wrong with your customer service attitude & quality control. Maybe you only cater to big box vendors?

Not very comfortable!
The seat is OK...fits the toilet just fine and was easy to install. The slow-close feature is great - all toilet seats should have that!! The only downside is that I'm so used to it now & forget that all seats aren't like that and occasionally cause others to drop & make a resounding crash! Unfortunately, I'm less than thrilled with it because the seat itself is kind of concave (bowl-shaped), and is pretty uncomfortable to sit on.

No more slammed seats!
I was not too sure about these seats as I have read some of the reviews and was worried they would be a costly mistake. I took one out of the box moments after it was delivered and installed it right away. It literally took less than two minutes to install. These seats are awesome! You can close both the lid and cover or just the lid and with a little tap it goes down on its own slowly....but more importantly --- quietly! So our house has been quiet in the early morning hours when the kids have to get up to go to the bathroom - we no longer hear the lid slam down on the bowl. My wife and I could not be happier. We were glad we got one for each toilet in the house.
