Q: Can this be used in synthetic fabric?

Yes I think so. I use it for draping. It does leave a residue which you can feel when you touch the material. Thus is the protective coating.. It work s well I tried lighting a piece of cloth treated with the spray. Pretty good

All surfaces need to be sprayed so you will need to if you want it to be fireproof on both sides.
