Wow, just wow!
Took a while to get here but my God what a fantastic Scale Model. Absolutely worth the wait. This is the first scale Model I've ever built and Painted. I'm absolutely blown away by it's detail, ease of assembly, instructions and the outcome. I've uploaded a full video of the build (on my channel) which you can find by searching for TheThorpester. I'm looking forward to doing the X-Wing and would love to get the Falcon!

Very detailed!
Kit is perfect, snaps together so very little glue required, I chose to do mine as a very distressed "post deathstar run" look and obviously painted quite a lot but it came out very nicely, it's a huge shame however that this didn't come with a couple of ground crew and some proton torpedoes on a cart, that would have been great to have around the y-wing while it's down on its landing gear...

A great kit.
Went together with no major issues. I had to sand down some parts as the fit was so tight i risked breaking the model. The pipe work on the back of the model was fiddly but I kept the sprues warm and none broke, however, be carefully when handling the model after affixing the pipes as they are fragile. A nice touch having the choice of two pilots and two astromech droids to choose from. A fantastic kit!

Not for the beginner.
All Bandai model kits are easy to put together without any need to understand Japanese. I would recommend Bandai Star Wars kits to modelers, collectors and fans alike. This particular model is a little tricky and has a lot of small pieces. The detail is excellent and the finished model looks amazing. The kits are snap fit and you shouldn't need glue. Given the number of small and hard to fit pieces I would recommend having glue to hand just in case.

Fantastic kit!
Fantastic kit, well fiddly and tiny parts, had to replace to broken bits of piping but that was my fault. Handy hint, don't fit the side pod engine on until you have placed all piping on the support wings, ignore what the planes say about this. For a kit only being 1:72 I was surprised by the size of the kit, with laser beams inserted its 30 cm long, Nice! You also get three pilot figures and two tiny (amazingly detailed) R2 units, which was nice.

A superb model which can be terribly fiddly and frustrating
A superb model which can be terribly fiddly and frustrating. Keep with it and take your time and you will reap the rewards of a superb model. Probably the best in the series. Worth adding wear and tear and exhaust streaking for the finished look.

Great Model but large customs charge in UK
Amazing model but be careful if ordering within the UK as I was charged 50% customs which makes it cheaper to buy directly from UK seller.

Excellent model kit very well detailed the fine moulds/revell model ...
Excellent model kit very well detailed the fine moulds/revell model is also a very good model but the Bandai has more detail and has sharper moulding detail it is also cheaper than the fine mould/revell kit. delivery was also well ahead of proposed date.direct from Japan, recommended

This kit is just super. You need to actually physically feel it to appreciate how fine and detailed it is. It's so nice i don't feel like cuttting them from the sprues to build it. Hats off Bandai !!!

The previously available Fine Molds 1/72 scale Y-Wing kit was very nice, but this Bandai kit that I just received is very well made also! It is all new tooling. This is not a re-issue nor re-tooled Fine Molds product/tooling. Pros: Intricately detailed, the plastic comes in 6 different colors, plus some clear parts (off white, gray, dark gray, bluegray, red and yellow). The yellow stripe on the cockpit is represented by 2 separate plastic pieces. You can build a really nice model with almost no paint at all (pilots & droids are molded off-white; weathering optional). Comes with a solid bluegray canopy and a 3-piece transparent version (where door can be shown in open position). Also comes with 3 pilot figures - 2 sitting, 1 standing. 2 are of the original episode IV pilot costume types, one seated pilot is of the newer Ep. VI type, 2 different droids (an R2 and an R5), landing gear, both water-slide decals and die-cut self-adhesive plastic stickers (referred to as a "marking seal") are provided to represent canopy markings and stripes. The instruction sheet is large (poster-sized), full color, written in Japanese only - but it is pictorial in nature. Also comes with a very nice gray deathstar surface base and positionable mount. Cons: among my very few peeves are that I don't see any markings for the droids, you'll have to paint them yourself. And at 1/72 scale, that will be challenging (or use droids from the FineMolds kit!) On the other hand this leaves you free to paint the droids in any way you like. This kit issue is designed to let you build "Gold Leader" without any painting. If you want to build another ship you'll have to build it and paint it slightly differently, but it can be done. I wish they would make a kit similar in quality to this in a larger scale! At 1/72 scale it is very nice, but in my opinion, kinda' small (no longer than 7" or 8" when built) Glue - it appears that this one was intended to be mostly a "snap together" model. However, I would still use glue on certain critical assemblies to ensure strength. Some modeling skills are required - I'm not sure if I can recommend this kit to beginners or inexperienced modelers. Parts have to be carefully removed from sprues with proper tools (some are very delicate) and excess plastic must also be removed with a sharp knife to ensure proper assembly. But I do not think it is overly challenging either. Summary: I am very happy with this kit. The previously available Fine Molds kit was highly detailed, came in one color (gray) and required glue and painting but provided more options & decals for building different ships, and droid markings. This Bandai kit has great detail also yet requires hardly any painting and possibly very little, if any glue. Both the Bandai and the Fine Molds (Japanese) 1/72 Y-Wing kits are much more detailed and accurate than their comparable US produced model kits, though the old MPC kits are a little larger when built. I think most folks who like to build Star Wars models will enjoy this kit, and I will try to post pictures when built . . .
