MK Commando K9201 16A 2P+E 200-250V Angled Socket Outlet (IP44) - Blue

This was twice the size expected but it fixed really well so the electric is now secured with an isolating switch as an extension only and the cable that just arrived today fits beautifully so nobody can complain about recently authorized rewired house and electrocute themselves or the cat in the rain as it all locks down or can be cut off to move the cable. Fabulous system and only needs and modicum of DIY and 50 years experience to fit it, drilling the wall was the worst as I had to put in high grade cable to meet the loading, but all is well and it only took 5 times longer than it should ... the great answer is it does that I wanted and I took weeks trying to resolve this need. Very tidy and very strong unless you drive into it with a caravan?

Easy access to terminals and robust construction.

It's certainly not MK brand, and it does say "made in China". For the price this is fine and although I was put off by a couple of the reviews in fact I found it well made and things like access for the terminals etc well designed. My existing plug also fitted OK.It doesn't come with any grommets and you need to drill the right size hole for your cable if using top entry. I also had doubts about its waterproofing since there is no sign of any gaskets. However, I sealed all the way around it with silicone and so didn't have this as a problem. On balance I would recommend.

This connector was used to provide an electric hook-up point for our motorhome when it's parked at home. It works well, and was easy to install.However, it's only IP44 rated, which only protects against 'splashing water', and the wire inlet is at the top of the connector. So, (a) make sure you use a suitable waterproof cable gland to prevent water ingress at the top, and (b) it should really be installed under shelter. If it's under eaves or a car-port, then it should be fine, but if it's totally exposed where driving rain may be encountered, then it may not be waterproof enough, and you should get an IP67 connector instead.

Bought this and got it installed so i can use the 'granny' UMC charger with the tesla 3. my UMC came with 2 plugs, a 3 pin which charges at 10A (10mile per hour) and the commando plug which can charge at 16A. Installing the commando socket has allowed me to charge at 16A which gives me 16mile charge per hour. Really good as more than enough charge overnight offpeak rates just for daily usage. Cost me £100 inc labour to fit. Absolute bargain compared to my podpoint which charges at 30A (30 mile of charge per hour) but cost £1000 inc labour.
