affordable and functional upgrade
So the story is that I'm running an AM4 motherboard that doesn't have any usb C connections. I got an external enclosure for an M.2 NVME driver for quick transfers as sata ssd's were just to slow. However the system had problems detecting the M.2 drive. I though it was a compatibility issue so I purchased another drive. The second one worked also had issues being detected. Through much effort I finally got the system to recognize the drive. Problem was that it would only work on one single specific usb 3 port (via a 3.0 to type C adapter that came with the enclosure). On any other port it would disconnect after 2 seconds and be non functional. Put it back on the port that previously recognized it and it just worked. Despite this one functioning port I figured that it was probably unreliable and would likely be an issue the next time I connect a different usb C device. So going on the assumption that the problem was related to the motherboards chipset not liking connecting to the nvme drive via externally I got this card. Installed it on a Windows 10 O.S. and it was instantly recognized, no need to bother with the CD cause honestly who has a disc drive anymore? Anyway I tested the external drive and it was instantly picked up and I was able to transfer several gig's worth of video files over onto my system. It also "does not" require additional power so don't have to worry about cable managing as none are needed. Overall worth every penny!

Helped fix issues with HP Reverb G2
For those who don't know the HP Reverb G2 is a VR headset manufactured by HP as part of Microsoft's Mixed Reality headsets. Basically Microsoft made the software to power it, HP did the hardware. There's an issue with the first generation of these headsets as they came with a cable that would have intermittent issues with AMD based computers, as AMD's USB 3.0 controllers would produce noisy (Read: Inadequate) signals from the ports. Meanwhile, Intel would have no issues. So I was essentially left with a stalemate of either purchasing a $100 cable to replace the one I had or try and roll the dice and see if I could have a secondary USB controller with a dedicated PCI lane do better. So I chose the first option but sadly am still waiting for the cable two months later. So I then chose the second which led me to buy this cheap PCI card. Thankfully it's USB Type C interface has worked wonderfully for this purpose, though the outer one doesn't work as well as the center one as I have only had issues with that. I assume this is an issue with lane bandwidth allocation. So if you for any reason may desire a cleaner USB interface, this is a valid option for you.

Not properly sealed, looked someone opened it before.
Got my package. The amazon package is ok but the product itself, only 1side sealed so can be pry other from the other side and looked someone ripped the box open before from the other side. Inside the product, no proper seal, not sure it was used or not. You can take out the product without removing the sealed as only 1sided sealed. But i need to use it right away, so i just have to work with it. Installed & tested and it works fine without any drivers on Win10. Lets see in few days, if it running without any problems. Hope they have better quality control on their products, i felt scammed from buying new but got used product. Updated: Dec 18,2024 the representative contacted and take care of the matter swiftly. It was error on amazon part accidentally sending return product to customer instead back to them. Its all about the customer service and handle the matter in timely manner. Greatly appreciated and will definitely order from them again. A++

Early Renesas IC, keep in mind for drivers
For some reason the drivers for this are supposed to be built into Windows but it took a couple of reboots before it started working properly. Not sure what happened there. The CD it came with was completely scratched up and impossible to read, so hope you donโt need the CD. Once the drivers settled it worked perfectly. Itโs also a very low profile card.

4-Port PCIe USB 3.0 Expansion Card (2 Type A & 2 Type C Ports)
It seemed like my backups were taking forever. My motherboard supports both USB2 and USB3. I thought that maybe my USB 3 ports were on the fritz or whatever so I purchased this unit. It's a good card but my backups are still taking longer than I'd like. I think I've narrowed it down to having too much data on my backup drive (a 500GB SATA III SSD with 170GB free space). I mean, if I have a totally bare drive then I can backup my workstation's C: drive in about 5-minutes. With all the data on the destination drive, however, it takes about 20-minutes to backup. It's not the expansion card's fault. That thing performs great but for some reason the connected devices are letting me down. The destination drive is inside a USB3 to SATA III enclosure. As the drive fills up, however, performance goes down. I can't explain it. On the bright side, it beats the heck out of old Hard Drive backups. Those were terrible. I'm using Windows 10's backup utility through Control Panel. It's the program labeled "Backup and Restore Windows 7". I'm doing a "System Image" Backup. Bottom line: It's a good card. I recommend it.

Typical low quality, re-sold crap
BUYER BEWARE: FALSE ADVERTISING This has a Renesas uPD720201 according to the reported PCIe info on my computer. This controller only supports up to PCIe 2.0. This limits the theoretical max bandwidth to 4.0 Gbps via the 1x interface, BELOW the maximum of a single USB 3.0 gen 1 device (5.0 Gbps). AKA: Plug in more than one device and you're not going to get much speed at all. Use all four ports and you'll be running at 1/5th the rated speed per device. Also power delivery didn't work. My device died quickly while plugged in. Turns out, the maximum by this controller is 7.5W (Which is the spec of USB BC 2.0, this is NOT any where close to modern quick charge protocols). Unless you want the cheapest thing, look elsewhere. It's very cheap but that's the only upside.

Great way to add USB C ports to a PC
I put together a fairly high-powered PC a few years ago to use for audio and video editing. One thing I didn't anticipate was how quickly USB C would be adopted as a standard for peripherals. This PCI card was recommended as a simple way to do that. Worked perfectly - plug and play, with no drivers reuired. I plugged it into an available PCI E slot, fired up the computer and instantly had four additional USB ports - two type A and two type C. I ran a cord from one of the USB C ports to an inexpensive USB C hub, and now have a bunch of ports conveniently located on my desk.

Good PCB, but one of them failed fairly quick
Fast, but they do fail here and there.

Easy to install and works
Slapped this in since my B550 boards kept blowing resistors trying to power my touch screen. Replaced with this and been holding up. This has been holding up showing that my 300$ MB has some upgrading to do when it comes to the onboard Type C.
