Insect Lore Cup of 3-5 Live Baby Caterpillars - Raise and Release Refill

2nd year I've bought these. My grandaughter loves watching them grow from caterpillars into butterflies. Would definitely recommend.

What an amazing gift to watch these little caterpillars grow into beautiful butterflies! We received 5 caterpillars all of which made it into butterflies, today we released them… one we were able to hold before it flew away Amazing quality caterpillars, my children learned so much from doing this!

Caterpillars took a while to be delivered by royal mail (not the sellers fault at all) but once they arrived they were all healthy caterpillars and the kids were fascinated from the start. Personally i think this is very good value for money as the experience of releasing your own butterflies is well worth the cost. Easy to care for as everything is included either with your habitat or with your caterpillars. Ours transformed fairly quickly due to delay in receiving them from royal mail and a combination of the heatwave. On an education front i cannot fault this either, 100% a highly recommended activity especially over summer holidays. We already have more caterpillars on order.

I have had these caterpillars from Insect Lore many times and it is really fascinating to watch them go through the cycle into becoming a butterfly . I recently had to contact them and they dealt with the issue quickly and efficiently. I would highly recommend.

This was such a fun summer project for me and the kids! The caterpillars arrived safely and watching the whole cycle had great educational value. Four out of five of them made it successfully to be released in the garden on a sunny evening.

If you are the happy owner of an Insect Lore butterfly farm you’ll need this voucher to order a set of new crawlers for the next season. Curiously we received a voucher that displayed a price, poorly hidden by black marker, that was a couple of pounds lower than we paid through Amazon. Even so, our first Butterfly garden was a huge success, mostly with my wife, who considered the caterpillars as her babies. Her actual children were enthused, but less so. When ordering this you literally get sent a voucher than you’ll then have to send to Insect Lore to receive a cup of 4 or 5 live caterpillars and a sufficient base of food to make them grow enough to go into the chrysalis phase. The food substance looked disgusting in my opinion therefore I handed the caterpillars the occasional crumb of meatball or sausage, which I think they very much appreciated. The cardboard box that you’ll receive and cup cover can transform into a chrysalides station. Yet this is a tricky stage as the chrysalis’ need to hang in a comfortable but secure manner Of the batch of 5 caterpillar we received through this voucher, only 4 emerged alive from their chrysalis. And one of these four had a permanently wrinkled wing. Even so the children were very excited to grant their temporary winged housemates to freedom. The only drawback is that it’s a cumbersome process; first you’ll have to order the voucher through Amazon then you’ll have to send the voucher to Inset Lore, who will return your cup of caterpillars, several weeks passed in between.. Then the caterpillars start eating and growing for well over a week. Next the chrysalis’ will hang around for at least another few days. And then they will have to complete their butterfly transformation for another 7 to 10 days.. before you can release them. During the last stage our planned holiday car trip abroad started so we had no choice but to very carefully the take the fairly large butterfly garden / habitat with us in the car. Luckily the customs officer didn’t notice. So ultimately these butterflies are now happy living ever after in the poppy fields of Flanders. All in all; the caterpillar reorder was a very satisfying experience to my wife, somewhat amusing for the children but beware of the logistics.

Bought these for my daughter and to learn more about them and it was an amazing experience to see them grow from caterpillars to butterflies.

Il faut compter 3 semaines entre la commande amazon et l'obtension des chenilles, entre l'arriver du code et la demande de chenilles sur le site (j'ai prise la date la plus proche mais on peu choisir ) j'ai reçu les chenilles pile le jour de notre depart en vacance, pas grave on les a laisser chez nous pensant les retrouver 7jrs plus tard, sauf qu'a notre retour on a retrouver 5 chrysalides! S'est du rapide... l'éclosion est survenu de nouveau 7jours plus tard et devant les enfants un moments magique, faut avoir de la chance le papillon sort très vite de son enveloppe, puis après quelques heures de séchage d'ailes, les papillons ont pris leur envoles 1 à 1. À noter qu'il y a un liquide rose fonce/rouge qui sort du papillon juste après sa naissance et qui a tout de suite inquiéter ma fille de 7ans qui pensait que le papillon perdait du sang , je l'ai vite rassurer mais s'est bon à savoir quand on a des enfants

Das Herzstück des Sets ist der transparente Becher, der den Raupen nicht nur als Lebensraum dient, sondern auch eine störungsfreie Beobachtung ihrer Entwicklung ermöglicht. Diese Raupen durchlaufen in wenigen Wochen mehrere Entwicklungsstufen von der Raupe über die Verpuppung bis hin zum fertigen Schmetterling. Das Set bietet eine hervorragende Möglichkeit, Kindern die Wunder der Natur nahezubringen und gleichzeitig Verständnis für biologische Prozesse zu wecken. Die Raupen ernähren sich von einer speziell vom Hersteller bereitgestellten Nahrung, die ebenfalls im Becher enthalten ist, was die Handhabung besonders einfach macht. Wir haben das Set bereits mehrfach in den vergangenen Jahren gekauft und hatten dieses Jahr leider kein Glück. Von fünf Schmetterlingen haben nur zwei überlebt, die restlichen drei sind während der Verpuppung gestorben. Letztes Jahr war das Ergebnis auch nicht viel besser, damals konnten nur zwei fliegen, die anderen drei haben die Verpuppung nicht überlebt oder konnten nicht richtig fliegen. In den ersten drei Jahren hat es dagegen optimal funktioniert, alle fünf Schmetterlinge haben sich nahezu gleichzeitig verpuppt und konnten zusammen freigelassen werden. Wir haben in den letzten fünf Jahren die Anleitung stets genau befolgt, daher dürfte die Ursache für die Probleme nicht bei uns zu suchen sein. Meine Tochter hatte jeden Morgen viel Spaß dabei, die Schmetterlinge zu beobachten. Obwohl wir in den letzten beiden Jahren kein Glück mit den Schmetterlingen hatten, werden wir im nächsten Jahr das Set wahrscheinlich ein weiteres Mal kaufen. Aufgrund der zahlreichen positiven Erfahrungen und Erinnerungen der letzten Jahre sowie der großen Freude beim Freilassen der Schmetterlinge vergebe ich dem Set fünf Sterne.

Le service client a très bien géré le problème que j'ai rencontré à la livraison de ma commande, à savoir qu'elle est arrivée beaucoup plus tôt que prévu, à une période comportant de nombreux jours fériés, ce qui ne me convenait pas du tout car, étant professeur des écoles, je ne pouvais pas observer l'évolution des chenilles en classe. J'ai donc écrit au service client qui m'a aussitôt proposé de me renvoyer gratuitement la commande à la date que j'avais choisie au départ. Chaque année je commande deux recharges, pour deux classes de mon école et nous sommes toujours très satisfaites de cet élevage facile à réaliser et très intéressant pour les enfants.
