Animal Heads: Trophy Heads to Crochet

I learned to crochet in November, as I was desperate to crochet the lovely wreaths and snowflakes that were about for Christmas. I was given this book as a Christmas present and it is amazing! I can't rate it highly enough. My first project was the bull, which I did in brown yarn (as I found the black a bit hard to see in the evening) and was amazed at how easy it was to follow. Yes, you have to have a pad to mark off your rows and concentrate on what you are doing, so it took me a while to fit around work and busy family lives but the end result was worth every hour I spent and more. Bert the Bull now takes pride of place on the wall and cheers everyone who sees him, not to mention having a fantastic bit of decoration for the price of the wool. I did the zebra next - he took me about a month on and off and he is beautiful. I am now starting the swan. I think perhaps the most difficult part is sewing the bits together. If you don't get them just right, there is no character in the face. I tacked/pinned the parts in place and shuffled them until they were right - took me a long time, but worth the extra patience at that point.

Beautiful book. Some very interesting patterns inside. Looking at the finished articles on YouTube you can see that some are huge!My one gripe is that the chart diagrams are not very comprehensive. They look like the have been scrappily drawn. I think that's more OCD on my part though. The rest of the book is of high quality and the photographs well presented, on lovely think paperI'm looking forward to making these for friends and family.

Love this book. Made 4 of the heads. Everyone compliments them. The zebra is quite realistic.

This is a beautiful book and mostly easy to follow. I have started with the Fox and have also found that, at times, there is a fair amount of jumping from page to page. I am nearing the completion of this lovely pattern, but am stumbling at the instructions for the chest fur. Both the written instructions and the diagram have beaten me! I am therefore going off-pattern and making this bit up myself! This has not detracted from my enjoyment and I am definitely going to complete every head in this book. They are so clever. Whether I am able to follow the patterns fully may, I suspect, be more my failing than that of this book. Persevere, it's worth it.

I bought this book to create the reindeer head for my daughter for Christmas as a surprise. It is a lovely book which inspires me to perhaps make the bear for myself eventually. The details and instructions are very clear and the only trouble I had was getting the suggested yarn in the colour. I had to use a similar yarn of different make but it is easy on the internet to compare yarns. I am looking forward to completing this project and I know it will be valued in its new home.

OMG.......The Patterns are amazing you have Ten well written out patters with great pics of each which are the 3 mice an awesome looking Lion, Fox, a Ram with horns, which is really great details, a Swan also amazing detail and very life like a Stag, Bull, a Black bear which is cute and The Zebra which is also fab and I cannot wait to crochet one as a said the Patterns look easy enough to follow it's quiet a thick book too it also gives you good detailed stitches of any that's in the patterns all in all well worrh buying and have found that amazon is selling for cheapest in town Hope this helps whilst you look and wonder

I’m still pretty new to crochet so this book is above my skill level at present, but it’s given me something to aim towards. Instruction’s appear clear

I love this book, I’ve already made the lion and plan to make all of the other animals. The patterns are easy enough if you’re experienced and you can use the charts to check you’re doing it right. I found it a bit of a nuisance having to flick back and forth through the pages for certain parts, but the results are fabulous. I wish the author od bring out a part 2 with other animals, I’d love an elephant head!

Amazing book. So happy to be able to make these. The patterns were very difficult to understand at first but making progress. The pattern photos are very confusing, I still don't understand them. It would have been nice to have progress photos in the book vs pattern photos. Trial and error works though! Can't wait to see my finished product.

全編かぎ針編みの動物トロフィーです。とにかかわいくて見てるだけで楽しいです。すべて英文ですが、手書きの編み図もあるので、ある程度かぎ針編みをされている方だとなんとなくわかると思います。動物ものって、目をガラスビーズにしていることが多いですが、全て編んで作るのでリアルな目になりすぎずオシャレです。早く編んで飾りたいです。

Ich bin jetzt eigentlich kein Jäger oder Trophäensammler, aber diese Köpfe sind wirklich witzig.Da wird sicher so mancher Kopf nachgearbeitet...mir hat es besonders der Stier und der Hirsch angetan, aber auch die Maus hat was :o))Ich bin schon sehr gespannt, ob ich die Köpfe auch so ausdrucksstark nachgearbeitet bekomme... sie sind wirklich liebevoll und formstark entworfen.Man sollte allerdings mit englischen Häkelvorlagen/Begriffen vertraut sein und auch das eine oder andere Wort Englisch beherrschen, sonst wird es schwer mit dem Nacharbeiten...
