What I needed for my lathe
I'm a novice on the wood lathe but found out real quick that when trying to turn a bowl, I need some extra room between the tailstock and the bowl. It was just too close when trying to get my chisel oriented so I could start taking out what would become the inside of the bowl. Saw a video where there was some kind of extension being used that alleviated that problem. Researched it and found this MT2 (morse taper #2) and bought it. It just slips right in to your existing morse taper and gives you several inches of extension. This I slipped my live center into the extension and now I had the clearance I was needing. I checked it for trueness and everything seems fine. It fit the bill for me.

Extension
After the first use, my live center is stuck in it and unless I want to get medieval on it I dont think its coming out. I have others so ill leave it in there. It the extension comes out of the tailstock with ease.

MT2 Tail Stock Extension
It fits. It added 4 inches to my tail stock travel. The slot in the extension was too far back for me to eject my Harvey lathe's live center from the extension. So I had an older live center which had a slightly longer MT2 taper which fit into the extension with it's end visible in the extraction slot. Fit and finish is well made.

Well packaged with oil in plastic sleeve. Fits great into tail stock and live center fits well.

Not for short live centers
Only reason give this one star is the material seems to be good quality steel but the slots are cut so far back its impossible to remove a regular live center with a shank around 3" and bottoms out in the taper about 2 1/4 ". The slots are cut around 2 3/4 " and above you need a bent rod to insert it and tap out the live center as with mine the rear shank of my live center is hollow making it jut about impossible to get it back out without damage. I suppose if you want to dedicate a center to this it does give the added reach. I'm sending it back!

If u are doing a deep cut with a Forstner bit this extension is invaluable
